I live a country mile up the road from the campsite, you could have called in for a cream tea! History lesson! Corfe castle was under the command of Lady Bankes (hence the Bankes Arms pub) during a siege by Parliamentarian forces. A retainer turned his coat inside out and opened the gates to them, giving rise to the word 'turncoat'. They were so impressed by her courage they gave her the castle keys, now at Kingston Lacy house, where her family remained until about 1980. They also 'spoilt' the castle by blowing it up. Nearly all the older houses in Corfe are built from its stones. Here endeth the lesson!
Hi David, had I have known…! Brilliant history lesson, thank you! Such a shame the castle was purposely destroyed… I am very jealous that you live in such a beautiful part of the world 😊
Great to see you back out and as positive as ever. Menu up button allows you to toggle through the preset info on the display. To change the presets, press the menu down button, scroll across to settings menu and select display. You can then select status line content that allows you to pick the items you want as presets
Delighted for you. As a fellow traveller,I was sickened to see your bike stolen in France and your trip ruined with your son. The biggest nightmare I'd imagine besides a hospital visit. Wishing u all the best with your new steed from Ireland.
Hi Steve. I've just discovered your channel. Thoroughly enjoyed your video. I look forward to watching more of your content and adventures. Keep up the great video style of presentation. Well done.
Oxford do a lockable strap for the soft luggage. It goes through the loop on thr bag and you secure it round the frame or seat loop if you have one. Brilliant piece if kit. And locks your bag onto your bike :)
Thank you, I enjoyed your video very much. Glad to see you back on a bike you obviously love ,after the disaster in France. There are some complete bastards in the world but I’d like to think they are in the minority . Just a tip if you don’t mind. The disk lock . I noticed at camp you put the lock on the right hand side and in front of the brake calliper but you mounted the bike on the left . I did the same thing years ago. Never again. I forgot about it , the wheel did one complete circuit and then threw me and my wife off the bike. I was thrown away from the bike she ended up under the bike. She saved the bike from any damage, did a great job I was very proud of her , but she got quite a few scratches and bruises and I’m still reminded about that from time to time. Now it goes on the same side as I mount and directly behind the calliper 😂
Hi David, that an extremely good tip and one that I am going to employ. I could easily see me forgetting about it and the yellow bungee thingy won’t fit over the handle bar with the hand protectors so thank you! So glad to hear your wife didn’t get seriously hurt!
Hi steve great to see you bonding with the new bike. As regards apple play units i have the car puride and chiggee which both use the cradle power no hard wire needed 👍🏻👍🏻
One of my favourite walks is from Corfe Castle over the hills and into Swanage and then get the steam train back. I also dive a lot from Swanage and live just up the road. Nice new bike, it’s good to see you back on a GSA, happy for you. 👍
Thanks Mark! It’s a beautiful part of the world… I’ve often sat with my boys when they were little, watching the divers near the pier - perhaps we’ve watched you in action at some point! 😊
Nice! Grab yourself a monimoto gps tracker, and apple air tag well hidden, hiplok dx1000, oxford boss alarm disc lock for the front wheel and easyblock, litelok x3 for the back wheel along with your chain, they won’t even bother with it
Yay! 😊 We are so glad to see you back on your bike. This campsite has been a family favorite for many decades. Beautiful part of the world. Thank you for sharing 😀
A very watchable and enjoyable video. So pleased for you Steve that you are back on your own, brand new two wheels. You’re not far away from my patch - beautiful county with a magic coast line let alone some great roads for biking. 😢🏍️ . Couldn’t have picked a better location to acclimatise yourself to your GSA 1250. Well done.👍
The smile on your face before the intro ... bloody priceless. I replaced my nav 6 with a Garmin xt 3d printed some parts to use the original mount, so it's still lockable. The only downside is that the wonderwheel doesn't work with it.
So chuffed for you Steve she's a good looking piece of kit to say the least ! Well done mate glad your back where you belong, GS'ing it to the max ! 👍👍👍
Excellent Steve , good to see you on the new steed . Same but different as the 1200. How are you getting on with the quickshifter and auto blipper . I found the more I used the smoother it was . To get the fuel gauge up , it will be in the top center of the TFT . Press the Menu rocker upwards and will cycle through various things .. Range, time of journey , total time on bike etc . Keep it up and look forward to the upcoming adventures Mark
It was great to see you back on the big GSA. I've just added the litelock x1 to my security it will go round the front tyre on the Tiger, and for added protection, I can add a noose chain if there's something to chain it to. On one of the reviews, I think they said it would pass through the hub on a GS wheel, making it very hard to cut off.
The button on your left hand switch gear marked menu will show you range mpg fuel gauge just press the top part it’s like a rocker button. Glad you’re enjoying your new gsa. Great little trip.
When you roll the bag top do it so it faces the rear for that extra bit of protection, I have some Spada bags I got cheap 40 ltr ( more like 30 but on sale for £6 each so who cares for waterproof bags ) so pack them for the different things I use the bike for and just use some straps I already have to attach to the bikes. I have the same tent and have a large SW Motech bag with it packed along with ground sheet and anything else which could be wet when packed like a large tarp, spare shoes, chair and table. Glad to see you have got a new bike so just watch the frogs next time you tour.
Great to see you back on a GSA. Your unfortunate experience with the theft of your bike only reinforced my pre-existing paranoia about leaving my GSA anywhere other than my own secure garage. I have always checked Google maps in advance of booking an overnight stay and won't entertain anywhere which can’t offer secure parking!
Good to see u on the new bike Some everyday & touring observations if it was me relative to your issues Tracker is a must litelock Airbnb - stay away from large towns & housing estate accommodation
Hi, thanks! Tracker now fitted (video to follow at some point) and I’m looking into the Lite Lock… Secure parking or camping is the way forward for me, I think. 😊
Hi Steve, glad you are back on a Gs and loving it. As you already know, they are a target for the unscrupulous and as Gillian noted I always keep my chain off the ground, through the panniers and frame and i also have a grip lock but if they want it they will take it . Keep up the good work
Hope you're going to fit a tracker. I have been delighted with my Datatool Tracker, buy and fit and then £99 a year and it will enable recovery from a steel container. Great product. Many other trackers are available nowadays. Several portable between machines. Good luck. Stuart
My research found that a chain system should be off the ground, best wrapped around the seat. This stops the thief with a sledge hammer smashing the lock on the ground or securing the chain to enable grinding.
Hi Steve - Menu button press up up up cycles thru display at top of screen - settings will allow changes to what's displayed - Chigee AIO 5 for BMW is the way to go 😀
glad to see you back on a GS. Regards security check out Lite locks it may save carrying a heavy chain around but don't blame you for being security concious
Glad you're enjoying the new bike. Do you have space to put the chain through the frame as well as the wheel, as wheels can be taken off? That would also probably keep the chain off the ground which makes it harder for thieves to break it, or work on the lock. Enjoy your time on the new bike. 😃👍
Getting out on the new bike already, well done 👏. Really happy to see you making content on a GSA again. Not that I dislike other bikes, I just like hearing that boxer twin. To scroll through the options such as fuel level, etc, press the top of the menu button. There is a list of options that can be added/removed to the data on the top of the dash (I think y’all call them clocks) in the settings which you can access by pressing down on the menu button and pressing right on the scroll wheel to get to the settings menu.
Great to see you out on your new bike Steve. Took me a long time but I really love the sound of a Boxer engine. Glad you asked a question about the fuel gauge as I too have trouble getting it back to level in tank. Only just worked out how to get low battery warning off of screen. Ted
I've just got the Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW and it works with the wheel as well as powered by the nav prep. Not sure about compatibility on your bike. Works with the 1250 GS/GSA. I'm using it on my 1300 GS.
Good video again Steve. Felt bad for you when the scumbags took your bike. Little tip on using the roll-top dry bags, place it on the bike so the 'opening' is facing to the rear. Helps stop the wind forcing moisture around the roll.
Steve the Chigee mounts straight onto the BMW GPS mount and you have the choice of using the USB or wired to the battery for charging, nowhere near as expensive as the Garmin or BMW connect system
The last couple of years I travel extremely light. No more panniers, no camping equipment. Just one waterproof bag like the one used on the video and a couple of small tool bags. Good enough for a 2 week+ trip. The cheapest accommodation £20-£50 per night beats the hassle of carrying all the camping gear, packing/unpacking, worrying about thieves. Just unclip one bag and sleep in a soft bed every night
Always put your chain through the drive hub and not through the wheel but either way unfortunately if someone cuts the chain it’s going to be gone 😢 Top quality D lock through the hub is the only acceptable solution on a GS as they will have to have a petrol disc cutter to get through it providing you pay top money for one an not a silly bicycle one 😮
I do like the colour of the new bike and it’s always nice to get used to a new bike on a bit of a ride out. Re the bag you were using is that the largest 70l that you have? Certainly a nice looking bag 👍
Steve, happy to see you out and about on your new wheels my friend. Pls take a look at todays video that I'm about to release on my channel, this system is exactly what you need. My channel is about the 10th of yours and these fabulous ppl supported me and issued me this device without any requirements. THis system will allow you put your phone away and not have it static mounted on your bars. 👍Happy to do a zoom call with you and walk you through it if needed once you are to get your hands on one, I'll be your tech brother from the East !!
Thanks Mike! My new bike is 5 years old… You could probably get an unregistered new 1250 from a dealer but they are no longer making them and I would think the stock is virtually gone now…
@TwoWheeledDreamer beautiful motorcycle and I've nothing against new models but l do think all companies should make a Standard model without all the technology. ABS and that's it.
Hi Steve. Speaking of securing the motorcycle, aren't there immobilizers and GPS tracking systems on such modern top-class motorcycles? If not, not good!
Hi there, I can track the bike using BMW’s connected ride app… I’ve also just fitted an independent tracker too, which I will release a video about in February 😊
hi, i enjoyed your vid and watching your various adventures, thanks. i stayed at corfe castle some years ago and visited bovington tank museum, an excellent day out. ive just tried ordering one of them bags using your link, but their system wont accept my address on isle of man, which is a shame as its pretty good value for a 70l dry bag.
I have one it is the Quechua blackout tent so easy to put up just pull the two lines out and peg it down the only thing I found is the packed size is a bit " fat " due to the setup being umbrella type design and a little bit long so I pack mine in its own roll bag and strap it on top of the rear pack on my Rebel 1100, Decathlon retail it for around 125 but save so much time and hassle on a long trip, the blackout is brilliant if using it on those long summer days as it keeps the inside dark making it easier to get to sleep.
Hi Taff, yes, it’s a decathlon tent (which so far I’m very impressed with) - I take a closer look at it in a video I will put out in a few weeks time 😊
Great video, I'll get myself down there. The TFT and other settings can take a while to get your head around. Lowering the suspension is easily done through the suspension button on the left, but I never remember how to do it.... Great bike !

Hi Andy, it is beautiful there… Sorry to hear you couldn’t order the bag (I am very impressed with it), perhaps contact them to see what the issue is?
Yep, will do 👍
Is the bag you got the 70l version looking at the size of tent i would guess so! Enjoy the 1250, its like a 1200 but better!
Hi, yes, it’s the 70L version. I’m loving the bike and yes, like a 1200 but better! 😁
They saw/grind through those bars you attached your bike to. It's easier than cutting through the chain.
Thanks for the tip Martin 😊
Could you please do a review on your new tent ?
Hi Simon, there is a review of the tent coming out in a couple of weeks… thanks! 😁

Thanks Simon! 😊
Hi.
What site did you stay at please ?
Hi, it was Burnbake Campsite, situated just outside of Corfe. 😊
Thank you mate. Love the channel 👍🏻
Is that tent from decathlon?
Hi Taff, yes, it’s a decathlon tent (which so far I’m very impressed with) - I take a closer look at it in a video I will put out in a few weeks time 😊
@@TwoWheeledDreamer thankyou
Sorry it's kreiga not oxford
Don't always rely on the handbrake system, mine releases when you least expect for no reason.
Hi Stuart, thanks for the tip! 😁
Really ? I have never had a problem with mine doing that...might be worth getting that checked out Stu
Mine also releases when you don't expect it.
It really shouldn't @@alanduncan3337
Move camera back a bit, too close to your face. 👍
Great video, I'll get myself down there.
The TFT and other settings can take a while to get your head around. Lowering the suspension is easily done through the suspension button on the left, but I never remember how to do it.... Great bike !
Thanks Stuart! 😊
