- This is a pretty simple procedure as long as you are organised. Here is a video to show how to dismantle, clean, and assemble a brand-x dropper post. It's manufactured by PNW so will be the same for their posts of the same design.
Tools Required:
Alcohol, Grease, Allen Key, Pliers, 16m or adjustable spanner, Towel

Great video, never serviced a dropper before but this was a huge help
Simple and easy to follow. Thanks
Perfect video... Thanks 👍 Just serviced mine
Very useful thanks.
Thanks man!
Thank you for the video!
Thanks for this - fixed a 4 year old Whyte dropper today with the aid of your easy to follow video - it’s been slow/sticking and driving me mad for ages despite regular ‘short services’!! Better than new now 👍👏 Just one odd query - when releasing the air I use a shock pump with a pressure release valve - as the air expelled there was an amount of foam and liquid expelled too - it looked clear like water, not oil , no odour - any idea what this might have been ??
Great video, I have a tranz x is same but I like a video to change oil.
Hi, do you need to re pressure the tank and if so how do you do that. Im taking mine apart as its stuck in the up position. Thanks
Hi, I have the same the model Brand X Descendant but it doesn't have the shraeder valve on top at all. Is it still the same process? Thanks!
Yes
Do you know if the rockshox dynamic seal grease is ok for servicing this post mate?
RS's seal grease is for o-rings - not as a general lubricant. Try Slick Honey or Slickoleum.
At the beginning you let air out - do you have to put it back in at the end?
Any way of shortening the height of dropper.i purchased an XL but I'm around 10mm to high on it ? Another top out bumper ? It's down all the way on the frame.im currently looking for a solution as it will take ages to get a shorter brand X dropper.kind regards great video 👍
It looks to me that you could add something on top of or underneath the top out bumpers as he calls them here.
just let the seat hit ya arse then release the lever...
Hello, please tell me what pressure did you pump?
Yours should say a recommended pressure on it, 230-300 psi
I can't unscrew the actuator on mine. It's almost as if it's seized. Any ideas? I already scratched it with the wrench a bit... drives me nuts.
i don't know sorry, short of getting someone with a stronger grip than you to try
use the rubber clamp of your bike mechanic stand to hold it
how much psi do you put back in the post ?
My post says 280-300psi. You'll need a shock pump that screws on.
I notice you didn't strip the air shaft? Any reason for this?
Didn’t know that was a “thing”. Will look at that next time I do a service, thanks
@@bikedave2545 not sure if it comes apart after doing mine. Thanks 👍
Mine refuses to pull apart
how old is the post mate
2 years, I do it yearly
