Miten sulla menee (tänään)? = How are you doing (today)? Let me know ⬇ Mulla menee hyvin, huomenna on mun viimeinen päivä New Yorkissa ja sitten takaisin kotiin Suomeen 🥰 = I'm doing good, tomorrow is my last day in New York and then back home to Finland!
Can we get a video of introductions, in a case manner? (Hey what is your name, my name is-, how old are you? I am - years old, where are you from? I am from -, what are your hobbies? Etc) kiitos paljon 🥰❤
I always appreciate how you’re trying to find the most precise and accurate translations to all the responses that generally mean all the same. You also elaborate on each one, trying to fit the manner to characterize each response more which helps the learner to figure out the situation and attitude for when to use which one. For me (a translator and a perfectionist in learning a new language) it’s really important, so thank you so much 🙏🏻💛
As a native English speaker who has just started learning Finnish, your videos are so helpful, definitely one of the best learning resources around! They are really backing up and reinforcing things I am learning elsewhere, and making them memorable with real-life examples, plus adding on more colloquial vocabulary that I am not learning elsewhere. Many thanks!!
Thank you for your video. I have been waiting for the Finnish study blogger for long time. Can you make a video how to express “ which” ? I always have problem with this word.
An answer that my teacher gave me, which sounds similar to this one 6:18 is “ei kurjuutta kummempaa”. I don’t know the direct translation to English, but I remember that it means something alone the lines of “No more misery” in English. And it is my go to answer for “mitä kuuluu?”
Heillo Kati In the end something similar between finish and macedonian/bulgarian languages. Mita kuuuluu=Kak si. Also is like finnish kaksi like 2/ two/. It is same pronoynsation. But with this videos you are number ONE Moi Moi

I came back to find my comment from a year ago where I asked the following genuine question (it wasn't a criticism - honest!) - "Is vocal fry (creaky voice) part of Finnish these days? Can you omit it, or will it mean you won't sound authentic? (I really dislike it)" - because I just watched a recent RUclips video all about vocal fry. The presenter, Dr Geoff Lindsey, singled out Finns as being particularly prone to doing it. When he started to say about "Other languages can use vocal fry much more widely ... " my ears pricked up because I just KNEW he was going to talk about Finnish! The first piece, with TV examples, starts at 16 mins and 14 seconds: ruclips.net/video/Q0yL2GezneU/видео.html . He later answered my above question for me, too, at 22 mins 14 seconds ... citing a study by people from two Finnish universities which seemed to confirm that the absence of a creaky voice can make a non-native Finnish speaker sound less fluent when speaking in Finnish. So, it seems that imitating vocal fry WILL make you sound more authentic 🙂. Maybe you could use this as a future video topic? I will have to miss out on copying that, unfortunately ... because, as I said, I really dislike doing it ... I am such a baby about it - it tickles my throat!
Thank you very much :) so many different useful answers! Mulla on kysymys! "Mitä kuuluu?" means "How are you?", right? But, how to say if I want to ask about another person or... for example, how Sidney's things are going? like I am asking you "How is Sidney? How are Sidney's things?"
I guess one way to ask would be: "Kuinka/Miten Sidney voi" = How is Sidney doing or literally translated "How is Sidney's well-being?" And you could also ask: "Miten Sidneyllä menee?" = How are things going for Sidney More casually I guess you could even just say "Miten Sidney on?" = How is Sidney So yeah there you have a few options haha :D
Hello mam iam studying finnish I can understand the basic grammar but very confusing in gennative format and in partitive format plz take class about this plz
3.25 heppu (ARK)/jäbä/kaveri/kundi/sälli: onko vaihtokelpoinen? Kuinkas hurisee? -Mulla pyyhkii hyvin! (tai lieneeko jokin sekaanus?). Sorry, I don't mean to cause offence, but feel bound to point out that the term 'dude' is American slang which is not in common use in the U K.
In addition, here in Finland, there is ALWAYS possibility, that someone actually answers the question. The answer then might contain dark truths, sorrow, loneliness, serious sickneses. Be also prepared to true answers.
terveellinen is the basic form of "healthy". terveelliset is plural. "terveellistä" is the elative case form - you would use this for example when talking about food I guess "tämä on terveellistä ruokaa" = this is healthy food.
I thought that I'd help _you_ but then I saw how difficult this particular particle is for non-Finnish speakers, wow! It does need _addressing_ for sure(without _else)._

That would literally translate to "nothing more special than misery", which now that I think about it sounds hilarious.
Maybe; _'nothing outside the realm of misery'_ conveys the sentiment?
Kiitos KAT❤️ I hope you the best… You help us alot🥰
Thank you Kat, ❤❤❤
Thanks for this..❤ wanna learn more

1:00 But only with prior warning, otherwise I hope that the neighbors can handle it mentally. 😆

Finnish is very easy language
Maybe job vocab and job names in the next video?
Or maybe i skipped something and there's a video already
I don't think I have done this yet! :D

Partitive. Finnish partitive case. Can you shed more light on it?
I thought that I'd help _you_ but then I saw how difficult this particular particle is for non-Finnish speakers, wow!
It does need _addressing_ for sure(without _else)._
Luulin, että voin auttaa _sinua,_ mutta sitten huomasin, kuinka vaikea tämä partikkeli on vieraskieliselle, vau!
Se vaatii _puhuttelua_ ilman _muuta._
It's the most difficult case to explain imo xD I will get to it...eventually haha xD
