    Thanks for these videos! One area I can imagine P mode being very handy is if you're in lighting conditions where you can't see the screen, and/or are using a viewfinder. You can't really see the settings or anything, and you can basically get your intended shot.

    Just got a Ricoh GR 3. I’m an experienced photographer, but each camera takes some time to learn. in the universe of RUclips photographic instructional videos, yours are a breath of fresh air.

    This is one of the best technical explanations of how the Ricoh GR3 works, and I've watched a lot of You Tube videos. It's clear, and well-paced. Thank you for posting.

    I'm noticing that my aperture does not change from what i set it at with the dial as I move around and go into different settings in P Mode. What am I missing? Was hoping for an entirely auto mode at times. Thank you

      Hi Brandon,
      The GR does not have a fully auto mode. Even P-mode will depend on other settings in the camera, and you can influence the exposure triangle with the dials. If you want the camera to take control of the aperture, then shoot in shutter speed priority.

    Still do not understand p mode. What parameter does the front fail control?

      Hey, sorry I didn't see your question before now! P-mode can be a little difficult to explain. I'm going to do it in a video - very soon. I'll call it Advanced P-mode. Thanks for the video inspiration :)

    What WB icon means Multi Auto WB, not Auto.. What's the difference?

    • @photostuff

      According to the manual, it can set a white balance that matches multiple light sources in the same scene…🤔

    Can you go back to the default Program settings?

      Sure. You can always undo settings.
      What did you have in mind?

      I've been trying different aperture and ISO settings. I would like to set it back to default without having to rest the whole camera. I also notice the aperture doesn't change on Program mode with auto ISO? @@photostuff

      @@pumpkins69 I did another video called Advanced P-Mode in the GR 102 series. You might want to look at that. Otherwise, you don’t have much control in P-mode and there aren’t many settings you change yourself.

    how come when I adjust the wheel, only the Aperture Value changes? I can see "SHIFT" showing up. I thought I can change the Shutter Speed too? If I can do that, how come the wheel only changes the Aperture value? How can I change the Shutter Speed?

      @@photostuff but that did not answer my question. How come i cannot change my shutter speed?
      I have the a7iii and i can control both shutter speed and aperture on P mode

    • @photostuff
      @photostuff  3 месяца назад

      Maybe this mode is not for you.
      If you want full control over shutter speed and aperture, then go with Manual mode.

    • @skuzmin
      @skuzmin 3 месяца назад

      P mode always gives you a combination of a SS and aperture that makes correct exposure (with given ISO). As we have minimum 2.8 aperture there always is a SS that corresponds to this 2.8 value. Consider this a starting point. One can not go below 2.8, and as a consequence have a faster shutter speed. So you have only option: go up with aperture, up to 13 (another limit). And SS changes accordingly. Automatically. So there is no need (
      and possibility) to change SS by itself. Its logical. But you can also change another part of exposure triangle: ISO. In P mode you do those with Adj button/wheel. If you want full manual control over the exposure triangle without camera involved there is a Manual mode. But in such case you take all responsibility and you might get incorrect exposure. I hope I managed to clarify this issue.
