I just bought one of these carved gourds at an Estate Sale that is marked, 28 de Julio En Huantas. Any chance that I just found the artist? The gourd depicts a scene of a bull loose in the street causing mayhem.

What is the substance you rub on the gourd, before the ash is applied?

In the video, he is using animal fat. If you're trying it at home, you could also use oil.
