The most beautiful art is in the simplest things but full of love. I am from Mexico and here we cultivate gourds since our ancient civilizations. I am fortunate to produce them and you never know each seed that appears will give us. I loved your work, the work you does in the gallery and maintaining this beautiful art by sharing his knowledge with others. God bless you always. Hopefully one day you will visit us and see our crops (here we call them Bules or Huajes).
I once grew a very small patch of gourds in my back yard, loved everyone of them that grew... my sweet mother loved nature and worked with wood and pine meddles one year and made me an Easter basket! I still have that! Ian 71 yrs old now. 😊 love it! If I could have lived on a gourd farm, I would have loved it! They just speak to my heart!!!! Thank You and your wife for all your grand work with gourds, they are gorgeous!!!
Beautiful beautiful work Mr. Hernandez! This is the first year that I have lived in enough light and sun to grow. I prayed for this sunny space for many years! I have my very first birdhouse gourd on the vine as I speak. I am 40 plus and I give testimony today that it is never too late to grow your own food and gourds! So excited and I have had a great organic harvest this year of potatoes, onions, beans squash and zuchinni. Peaches off the new peach tress and figs and blueberries and strawberries. I have a even greater apprecitation for farmers and food now that I have become a backyard farmer! God Bless you John!
gorgeous gorgeous work. I love that you and your wife have found a new loving friendship to strengthen your marriage. I wish I could attend one of your workshops. I live in the UK though :(

Don’t know if you will see this question, but I’m wondering what kind of paint your wife used on this video? You are so lucky to live where gourds are so readily available. In Australia only little ones seem to be sold. Where I live it is so cold and wet a lot of the year so not sure about growing them. Still ever optimistic I’ve purchased some seeds and will have a go next spring/summer.
Have you ever or would you ever try doing an acrylic pour onto a gord. I've looked and looked and can't find any examples of it. I do woodworking and gord art but been intrigued by the new acrylic pours. I have a couple gords that I've put aside for a gord pour unless someone tells me it's a bad idea. What do you think? Thank you
I see the Pine Needles, but do you also weave with chair caning product? I cane chairs and I always thought that the seat material would be great woven into the gourds. Thanks
Thank you for sharing your stunning video, your pieces of work are equally as stunning. I have been looking for a gourd to carve for my wifes 50th birthday but I have failed miserably. I too studied for my BA with honours degree in illustration. But due to my ill health not able to work! But I love to carve wood and just started pyrography to fill my spare time. Do you grow the gourds yourself? I was thinking about growing them bit I've been told they take roughly 2 years from planting the seeds to having the gourd dry enough to carve, is that true? I've also got to find out the name of the gourds big and round enough for bowls! Thanks once again, your video is a joy to watch. Andy UK
An inspiring and from the heart video, Mr. Hernandez; thank you and your wife. I share your passion for gourds and their history. Through books purchased a few years ago, I taught myself how to transplant and grow gourds, something I truly enjoy as much as stink bugs and Japanese beetles enjoy trying to destroy my plants once reaching 3/4 grown. I am still very much a beginner in artistic ability, trying to mimic what I read, but that's alright, I have fun just the same. I do have one question, please. You and your wife were working in your garage, you were creating a flower. What was the 'star' type item you placed into the center of the flower petals? Thank you and for all you do. Native Pride.
Such an awesome form of art. Lovely ❤😊
