  • In Singapore, we hardly think about sewage once we wash our dishes or flush our waste down the toilet. But where does it actually go, how does it get there, and what happens to it?
These four PUB staff tell us how an entire team works behind the scenes to keep our intricate sewer system working smoothly. Dealing with wastewater and fixing sewage pipes might not be glamorous, but these are necessary roles to keep our country (and bowel movements) going.
In the last of this three-part series discovering Singapore's water journey, we find out what it takes to ensure good sanitation for our entire nation and reuse every drop endlessly.

Maybe you can come up with "How Singapore dispose of food waste?" Also, "how does Singapore control business & industrial waste? "
Does your school system include waste segregation as part of the educational program?

Every one that has been through field camp in NS knows to appreciate toilets in Singapore. Digging a hole to poop in and then burying your own poop in the middle of a jungle while mosquitoes attack you, makes you appreciate toilets for the rest of your life.

Just watched a documentary in rural America where they had a problem with pig poop water. They don't have any good way to dispose of it, and it's causing environmental problems.
They could in theory build a whole sewage system, but it seems that it isn't profitable to build and run yet, so the problem is still there.
I'm imagining that they might be able to just truck it to a treatment plant and process it into fertiliser and natural gas, but then the people working there would probably be on less than minimum wage for awhile due to business not taking off yet.
Also makes me realise how Singapore is literally carried by our previous generations who settled these problems for us, and maybe in the future we would have to do the same. Cause like the example in the previous paragrah, the first solution to a new problem will be really unprofitable and the people working to solve the problem will be paid really little until they find a good solution.
