  • Watch the Queen of the skies depart Manchester Airport to Orlando International, the video shows the Virgin Atlantic Airways Boeing 747-400 named Ladybird G-VAST taxi towards to the runway, waiting departure clearance, take off roll, rotation and banking right out of Manchester.
    MAN - MCO.
This video is an original video filmed by Bradley Everied for bmemodels07, now known as vsnyc on RUclips.
Virgin Atlantic Airways was founded on 22nd June 1984 by Sir Richard Branson and began operations with a single Boeing 747-200 aircraft, which operated the airlines first flight to New York Newark Airport from London's Gatwick Airport. Virgin Atlantic has since grown rapidly, expanding its routes and destinations through its own network and with Joint Venture airlines including Delta Air Lines, Air France and KLM. Virgin Atlantic was the launch customer for the extended Airbus A340 aircraft the Airbus A340-600 series airplane. Virgin Atlantic in 2012 currently operate a fleet with four types of airplanes, which are the Airbus A330-300, A340-300, A340-600 and the Boeing 747-400 airplane, these aircraft are painted in the company's three liveries, which are sliver and a blue boarder around the tail of the aircraft, the 2007 livery and the latest 2010 title's, which has seen Virgin Atlantic introduce larger titles and also including the award winning airlines name on the belly of the aircraft, 'Virgin Atlantic'. Virgin Atlantic has since introduced the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-1000 into the fleet, retiring the Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A340-600 during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020.

I miss G-VAST ‘Ladybird’ very much already, you don’t often see footage of her in the old ‘Silver Dream Machine’ livery. She was scrapped at St Athan in November unfortunately, joining G-VBIG ‘Tinker Belle’. Two of the best registrations in history.

I'm into planespotting after having a 747-400 gaining altitude over me just after taking off, with the engines roaring at full power and causing the walkway where I was to vibrate. No video can capture the feeling of awesomeness and majesty of that magnificent plane leaving the ground.
    Great video, by the way.

I am remembering my mother these days. One fond memory is when she had to fly to Asia because of my ailing grandmother. I remember that day because I missed her just as I miss her now. She passed away. She flew to Japan on NorthWest Orient and then on to South Korea. I thought I would lose my mother by plane crash.

Of the 1.2 million views, I think most are me. The sound, the size, the lift off, all are beautiful. Lufthansa is still using these 747, they charge a premium when you book to fly in it, I think passengers of Virgin would pay the premium too. Bring back the Queen's!!

the 747 has quite a smooth climb, it is a lot heavier than most aircraft but at the same time more powerful, the 747-400 has tremendous force, you'll find the initial rotate it feels the strain s bit then powers into the sky, a beautiful aircraft, the best to fly on

Depending on weight, wind, air temperature, etc a 747 reaches about 150 to 175 knots before rotating. As it's rotating to take off its still accelerating. Below 10000 ft planes stay below 250 knots, then accelerate to whatever speed ATC tells them to fly at. In Flight Simulator I usually set my auto pilot to 300-320 knots. As I climb the air becomes thinner and the plane continues to accelerate to maintain 300 knots when the ground speed is actually higher... ~400 to 525 knots.

they stand the throttles up then check all engines rotating at roughly the same speed then apply full power. auto throttle sets actual power for the take off i think.
