The closest I got was Aladdin (my favourite after the Lion King) and even then it just highlighted how different I was. However, I LOVED the fantasy of it all too much to care. We all feel alone and unhappy as kids (and adults) at some point - those feelings aren't restricted to the gay community alone. We aren't magically happy just because we're straight let me tell you! Did you feel alone, different, left out, unwanted, uncomfortable in your own skin and feel like you had no one like you that you could talk to? We're more alike than you think and no Disney movie was going to make us feel any differently at that age. They just had the power to take us away from real life for a few hours.
Honey Willow: First off, learn to spell, and learn grammar. Then try and come at Idina. She's more than just "the one from Frozen". She's been a broadway star for years, acting in musicals like Rent, and Wicked. She's also been in the Disney movie Enchanted, and has many other acting credits to her name. While Miley only has Hannah Montana, and a few mediocre albums to her name. Idina is clearly not as boring as you say she is! With all the experiences she's had all over the world, and working in all these different roles, I'm sure she's got more exciting, interesting stories than the girl who's known for either being a disney star or a twerker.

majority of children have never been introduced to gay marriage, etc. they are very simple minded so that is why Disney creates the "normal/average" ideas.
I'm also not trying to shut down your comment and freedom of expression, but holding the belief that "You don't choose to like someone it just happens" is very dangerous. We all get to choose what we like, what we respect, what our dreams are. Who we like is very informed by the type of things we hold most closely. A lifetime of choices and experiences reinforces or changes our day to day choices, little by little. If we start to believe "You don't choose to like someone it just happens" and start to reject the idea of personal choice, then one day we'll find that life has lost all responsibility and accountability and there will be no achievement, success, or happiness, because there is no mediocrity, failure, or sadness. The whole topic of Elsa being a lesbian is a lot simpler than people are making it. When Anna talks about the man she is in love, with who she just met, we don't question it. We just say oh who cares she is young. At the end of the movie she falls in love with another man, we still do not question it. Yet, the discussion of Elsa being a lesbian is questioned. Nothing has been confirmed by Disney and yet people are making a big deal about. When you are in love with someone, you love them. No matter what gender they are, those people are in love. Elsa being is love with a woman will be the same thing as her being in love with a man. It is love. It is human connection. It is emotional connection. It is physical connection. It is love. Small children watching this will not be confused by love if they watch fictional characters fall in love everyday. And if they are confused, it will a good time to explain to them that love between heterosexual couples is no different then homosexual couples. It is love. Love has no boundaries. Love is love. Disney is very open to the ideas of having openly gay characters. So if it does not happen with Elsa, then it will happen one day in the future.

As I see it, there are 3 camps here. 1) I want to see Elsa in a lesbian relationship and teach that it's okay to be gay. 2) I think it's wrong to be gay, so I don't want Elsa to be gay. 3) I want Elsa to stay single because in Frozen 1, Elsa is about empowerment and life doesn't have to be focused on dating. I can see a way to for everyone to happy. Personally, I am 1000% for Elsa to be a lesbian. Elsa's influence sets her at a powerful position to get the entire world to empathize and to talk about any human rights issue in society. Elsa can't be undeniably gay, because how would a child feel if their parents tell them that they're banned from watching Frozen 2 because Elsa is gay, and even seeing gay people is wrong? How would a child feel if their country banned Frozen 2 from theatres, because being gay is illegal? In some communities, it will do more harm than good for Elsa to kiss a girl. Frozen 2 can address LGBTQ issues indirectly. Frozen was about accepting yourself, even if you were different from other people. Frozen 2 can be about empathizing with and accepting others who are different from you. Honestly, empathy is what the world needs the most, and it's something everyone will gladly have their children see. Elsa could meet another princess exiled from her town and family because of her power, and Elsa, having been through that herself, could now take the protector role to help the new princess accept herself, and for the discriminating townspeople to accept Elsa and the new princess. It can be a story of close friendship. As for the people who want stories about Elsa's girl on girl romance, fandom will take care of the kissing. Any adult or child who liked their friendship can google and you can't ban the internet. ;) Thumbs up if you think general acceptance of others would be a good message for Frozen 2. :)

Let It Go might be tiring but I will never stop enjoying Idina's singing. Because I knew who she is way before Frozen. That's why I wore my Wicked T Shirt when I saw the movie at the El Capitan two weeks before Christmas in her honor.
Relationships are not about having children, they are about love. Plenty of heterosexual couples today choose not to have children because they don't feel the need to, this doesn't make their relationship any less valid than if they chose to have kids. I wasn't a big fan of Miley over the recent couple of years but rn I actually think she is a little... awesome? What about the kids who have 2 mommies or 2 daddies. Always seeing children movies with both parents, no parents or one parent. They never see their family. Making them think something is wrong.
People need to grow up and accept that there is nothing "normal" in the world. Not everyone is going to be straight but that doesn't mean everyone is going to be gay either. Not everyone has two parents or even parents.
I think it's a great idea for Disney to start making movies where the life the character has isn't "normal".
No kid or anyone for that matter, should feel like they don't belong or that they have to have what others have to be "normal"
majority of children have never been introduced to gay marriage, etc. they are very simple minded so that is why Disney creates the "normal/average" ideas.

I'm also not trying to shut down your comment and freedom of expression, but holding the belief that "You don't choose to like someone it just happens" is very dangerous. We all get to choose what we like, what we respect, what our dreams are. Who we like is very informed by the type of things we hold most closely. A lifetime of choices and experiences reinforces or changes our day to day choices, little by little. If we start to believe "You don't choose to like someone it just happens" and start to reject the idea of personal choice, then one day we'll find that life has lost all responsibility and accountability and there will be no achievement, success, or happiness, because there is no mediocrity, failure, or sadness. Or, in other words, people need to own their choices and not make excuses.

@Tove Glaas. Well, hopefully when we both have 50th wedding anniversaries we can ask this question again. I'm positive there will be times when you have to choose to be attracted to your significant other, and in the future, you'll be glad you did. The current trend is to treat family members like iPhones: at best, you wait the 2-year contractual period before disposing of your old one and upgrading.

The whole topic of Elsa being a lesbian is a lot simpler than people are making it. When Anna talks about the man she is in love, with who she just met, we don't question it. We just say oh who cares she is young. At the end of the movie she falls in love with another man, we still do not question it. Yet, the discussion of Elsa being a lesbian is questioned. Nothing has been confirmed by Disney and yet people are making a big deal about. When you are in love with someone, you love them. No matter what gender they are, those people are in love. Elsa being is love with a woman will be the same thing as her being in love with a man. It is love. It is human connection. It is emotional connection. It is physical connection. It is love. Small children watching this will not be confused by love if they watch fictional characters fall in love everyday. And if they are confused, it will a good time to explain to them that love between heterosexual couples is no different then homosexual couples. It is love. Love has no boundaries. Love is love. Disney is very open to the ideas of having openly gay characters. So if it does not happen with Elsa, then it will happen one day in the future.

As I see it, there are 3 camps here. 1) I want to see Elsa in a lesbian relationship and teach that it's okay to be gay. 2) I think it's wrong to be gay, so I don't want Elsa to be gay. 3) I want Elsa to stay single because in Frozen 1, Elsa is about empowerment and life doesn't have to be focused on dating. I can see a way to for everyone to happy.
Personally, I am 1000% for Elsa to be a lesbian. Elsa's influence sets her at a powerful position to get the entire world to empathize and to talk about any human rights issue in society. However, I believe Elsa must address sexuality and identity indirectly.
Elsa can't be undeniably gay, because how would a child feel if their parents tell them that they're banned from watching Frozen 2 because Elsa is gay, and even seeing gay people is wrong? How would a child feel if their country banned Frozen 2 from theatres, because being gay is illegal? In some communities, it will do more harm than good for Elsa to kiss a girl.
Frozen 2 can address LGBTQ issues indirectly. Frozen was about accepting yourself, even if you were different from other people. Frozen 2 can be about empathizing with and accepting others who are different from you. Honestly, empathy is what the world needs the most, and it's something everyone will gladly have their children see.
Elsa could meet another princess exiled from her town and family because of her power, and Elsa, having been through that herself, could now take the protector role to help the new princess accept herself, and for the discriminating townspeople to accept Elsa and the new princess. It can be a story of close friendship.
As for the people who want stories about Elsa's girl on girl romance, fandom will take care of the kissing. Any adult or child who liked their friendship can google and you can't ban the internet. ;)

Being gay, lesbian or transgender (or anything else) is completely normal and should not be alienated by parents not teaching their kids this because they think it's not 'appropriate'. It's strange that people like you seem to always think of sex/sexuality when two women are in love with each other (or two men).
