Huion Kamvas Pro 24 Pen Display Review

- Huion has entered the large Pen Display market with the Kamvas 24 Pro. Featuring their new pen 3.0 technology for creating digital art. I review to see where how the drawing experience holds up for with a full technical breakdown and pen test. Note: the 4K version features the same pen tech so this review covers that experience as well.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I found it informative. For the prices it’s worth it to do research. Your video helped with that tremendously.
Youve been kicking ass baby !!
Thanks Mike! Your channel is really coming along as well!
hey John great video , just shared this info with my daughter which should help her out thanks all the best for the new years.
Why thank you! I’ve got reviews of the other 2 24” models as well. It’s a great time to be a digital artist.
Thanks for this review seems like an amazing display tablet. This might just be my choice
I had my Huion Kamvas Pro 24 for 3 months already :) If people are having doubts about Huion's display lifespan and it depends how your mail carrier handles the unit :)
The progress they have made over the last 4 years is astounding. Thats why I highlighted that in the video. I find people tend to nitpick the alternatives more, but they have come a long way. Anyone thinking they need a Wacom to do professional quality work needs to give these devices a try again. I don't have anything against Wacom either. They are great too.
Thanks for the tips!
You bet!
great review !
i wish this had the 22 plus tech in it and all the other good stuff since its better than the 24 in value.... mybe next year we will get a just that of the 22 plus but on 24 inch ... or 22 plus in QHD
It probably has more to do with sourcing a 24" panel with those specs, then keeping it at that price. Thanks for watching!
@@CreateNowSleepLater True... but Pros need better tools at good price.. even above 1k is better value than going to Wacom at that price.
Nice review!
That pen action is better than my Dell Canvas; no line hooking. The line wobble is barely there; essentially a non-issue. The Cintiq Pro 24 is slightly better for straightness, (and good on them for their high engineering standards), but nobody uses physical straight edges on screens anyway. So long as the wobble doesn't screw up my free-hand work I'm happy, and my steady hand is more wobbly than this.
The next step for these alternative tablet companies is to incorporate touch screen. That'll be fun to see!
Yep I agree. I dont know why we all put so much stock in a ruler test. Especially when most of the non-wacom brands have it. I've seen the smaller ones not have it as much but its probably more to do with the size of the digitizer.
I hope they make the same unit without the side buttons. All screen, like their 22 inch tablet.
Hi John, thank you for the review on both this and xp pen's 24 inch. Which pen do you like better and why? And what do you think about Huion's new 22 inch QLED Kamvas 22 plus against this?
Thats a tough one. Id say the determining factor is size. The pen experience on both 24 inches are similar. I've thought about doing a compare actually.
So, I am watching this 3 years later. I watched your comparison of 3 different brands. What are your thoughts now? Which one are u using and prefer.
I don't think my opinion has changed. A Cintiq is still a Cintiq but the gap between brands is not what it was.
Now I am thinking how could pen tablet manufacturers up their game aside from increasing pixel density? Are they even close to perfecting the digital art experience? Also, are the old Huion pen nibs compatible with the new pen design?
I wouldn’t think the old pen nibs fit since they shortened them.
Hello, could you clarify if the shortcut keys on each side can be programmed separately? (ie, 20 separate shortcuts.) I've seen more than one review stating unequivocally that they just mirror each other (ie, the same 10 shortcuts on each side), but the answer to this seems to be assumed as nobody else notes it. Thanks.
It looks like the physical keys are not mirrored, but the touch strips are. I was able to have the first hotkey on different sides do different things.
@@CreateNowSleepLater thanks for replying. I actually bought one of my own briefly and was able to make the buttons different on each side and noticed the slide bar was the same as well. In the end it just wasn’t bright enough for me and I went back to the Kamvas 22 Plus.
Great you found something that works for you. Lots of options!
HeY I have a question! So does the monitor only goes 60hz max? or can it go 144?
Hi, this is an easy one. There is no pen display on the market goes goes beyond 120hz and that is the new Cintiq Pro 27. Everything else is 60hz.
If you move out I'm moving in!
Bring moonpies and hot pockets!
Hi there, John!, I really enjoy your videos, great stuff and good humor! Thank you! I'd like to ask your (and anyone else in the thread) input and opinion on my next investment. I am 51 years old and I design and illustrate. I have had an been using a 24HD Cintiq for about six years (a 21ux before that and Intuos pad before that). I like it a lot, it's been in my workflow every day except.. it's killing me a bit and I'm a regular at my chiropractor. This device in my opinion, is just way too big. (It's hard to access a keyboard and mouse when needing these peripherals. I do have it mounted on a Ergotron - LX Desk Mount Monitor Arm. This display is HEAVY and BIG (30" x 18" - viewable is approx. 20 x 12.25" ) (1920 x 1200), it's so heavy that the arm droops. (also, the arms never seem to get the displays low enough unless the angle is higher that I would normally draw. So, what is your current favorite display list current? I'm not missing 4k experience and am fine with 1080 ( I wear glasses when I draw anyway), my question for you... What brand(s) and display size would you consider the best (currently)? I don't mind saving money : ) Lastly, what about going back to a regular non display tablet? Any help, suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated!
Hey Charlie, I’m only a couple of years younger than you so I get it. I also have back snd neck problems. There is something to be said about a tablet on the desk and being able to have good posture. I have a Cintiq 24 pro. I suppose it my favorite with the iPad really growing on me. I had to upgrade the arm to the ergo HD sit because of what you mentioned but it is big. If the rez isn’t the issue, you might want to look at the Cintiq 22. It’s not fancy and reviews like the Cintiq 16 does. If you want to check out a tablet, you might want to grab a Huion just to see if that workflow is better for you. You can easily get a good one for under $100. If probably do that since there is less risk. If you find you prefer the draw on glass, the hunt begins. Hope that helps.
@@CreateNowSleepLater I will update you on what I decide. Thanks for the great feedback. I really appreciate it.
@@CreateNowSleepLater would you please give me the physical height and length measurements of the Cintiq pro? Any idea how much it weighs? The 24 HD is a beast. I got rid of the stand a long time ago. I'll look for that arm you're referring to. Thanks again. I'm still on the prowl for meatball Hot pockets.
@@CreateNowSleepLater Would you post a link to the arm you referred to? I am using the Ergotron LX and the Cintiq with the arm extension, the tension is max, and if it still drops slowly. Thanks!!!
Sure, this is the one I upgraded to: amzn.to/38xX08p
so you left your parents basement? So you were a Mets fan and decided to become a Yankees fan???
I was never a Mets fan but I am a Knicks fan and trust me, they make up for it!
@@CreateNowSleepLater haha! back in the mid 90s was a great time for the knicks. PS HOFSTRA!!!!
@@gorequillnachovidal Yep, I was on the waitlist until the early 00's but then they tanked. I miss going to the games and just having that April playoff run. Hope they get it right with this new team.
