I could listen to Bong Joon-Ho talking about his favorite films for hours. Thanks for this
What a phenomenal review with such an educated insight into film.
The actress who played the housemaid was absolutely stunning.
I can’t forget the scene where she undressed herself, that shot from the window angle was amazing
Thank you so much for posting this. I am just discovering this film. A little late I know (only 64 years late) But better late than never, no? I love that opening scene with the kids playing cat's cradle, how he lingers on it..
My friend, the filmmaker and all around genius, Harry Smith, was an expert on cat's cradle. As well as many other subjects.
Great channel, Carlos, thanks so much.
This interview was amazing ❤🔥
Just saw The Housemade 1960. Horrific. You can definitely see the influence on Parasite. Nice interview ...thanks Carlos Renaso.
oh you're very welcome! glad you saw it, it's definitely a film that lingers in your psyche afterwards!
What exact thing you saw similar among this and parasite?
@@sirantisocial9681 Various stair cases...social class structures showcased...most of the camera angles...the horrific tone of beginning middle and end...the actual horror depicted...the psychological feelings of being trapped...family dynamics...minus the Morse code. I actually prefer The Housemade.
@@matth6932 thanks.
I finally got proof for my point regarding the stairs in Parasite. It was evident as a cinephile but a few of my friends called it an exaggeration. Thanks for this.
no problem! I also noticed in his movies how he loves to use underground spaces to build tension, suspense, and the unknown.
A great movie, although a bit disturbing. The ending is surprising and one of the best I've ever seen
Are there not any notable Korean women filmmakers?
You can dig into Lee Kyung-mi who made 'The Truth Beneath' (비밀은 없다). This movie is full of odd energy.
Is that 1960 movie?it looks ahead of current time movie.
the movie is bullshit tho.
well definitely don't want to live in Korea these days if the environment and attitudes are that bad
This is a 60 year old movie. You don't think anything has changed since then?
@@TheOfficalUnoffical based on squid games, i don't think things have gone better in general
@@Rushour717 You're literally basing your assumptions on fiction. Do you think that's a healthy thing to do?
@@TheOfficalUnoffical People make works of art based on the conditions around them
@@Rushour717 And its true of every single person in a country? I think you're taking a really baseless stance. I live in Korea and yes there is some truth to be found in these things but it's not the whole truth. I'm sure if you lived here you'd feel the same.
