I've spent my childhood playing WoW, the best days of my life were when I started Classic and right up until WotLk ended, sadly after WotLK I never played for real again.
When I was but a leveler in WoW: WotLK, I said, "One day, I'll meet and slay that Dragon. One day, I'll be there, at Icecrown Citadel, fighting the Lich King!" I was so optimistic. I don't think I'll ever feel that way about WoW again.
Now you gave me the feels... Had that feeling in vanilla and all the way until the end of TBC... Then I started to actually play the game serious and the magic kinda faded when I actually did the raids and stuff :/ Kinda ironic I guess?
I actually got to kill that Dragon and her King. WotLK was amazing. Dalaran hovered, but a stone's throw from the Citadel. The music hopeful in the shadow of possibly the greatest design for a castle in video game history. Wrath was glorious.
7:00 - This part makes me shiver and feel massive emotions of fantasy and wonder through my time of playing World of Warcraft since WotLK back in early 2009.
Hannes Bäcklund holy friggin crap nine years ago thats over half my freaking life and i remember playing this, having no idea what i was doing, watching the cinematic over and over again, being all excited for cataclysm because it had a cool dragon, and kind of not liking Deathwing’s huge underbite (i love it now). Nine friggin years ago yet I remember clear as fay staring at the computer playing the boss raid just button mashing and wondering why arthas was walking so slowly up to whatever the heck it I dont remember. NINE WHOLE YEARS
Its not the same. I've played WOTLK private servers and played Classic. Its not the same. The element of ignorance is gone. Streamers and youtubers even kill retail content. They hurt the game.
Nothing can beat this game. Ever. Remember Ulduar, we had so much lore in one raid you can even make an expansion out of it. It contained so much info about the foundation of Azeroth and the old Gods and how the Titans were corrupted. Don't get me started with ICC, simply the best raid ever. Mechanics to conversations to ambience to lore. All the dungeons were unique. Maybe it's the nostalgia kicking in I dont know. But this game had such a unique feel that I can go on forever. Saddens me that this was the peak.
Hovarda06 if blizzard made the right choices, the peak of the game would be to the point of god tier, WoW was great, amazing, but not the legendary state known as god tier.
lmfao this expansion was garbage. It's what brought LFR, daily quest grinds for rep and other atrocious design that ruined wow. Vanilla will always be the best version of WoW and it's why Classic is already as popular as retail in just 3 weeks
I would pay so much to hear a perfect rendition of this. with a massive choir belting out that part, i can never quite find anything that matches this original online unfortunately. It's so dynamic i'm think nailing it would be near impossible, because you could play everything correctly but if the levels and dynamics aren't also perfect it sounds off.
***** 1. They're doing NOTHING to those cities except no longer calling them capitals 2. WoW is already a "rehash" of the old books, comics, warcraft games, etc. I don't see your point there. The questing is far more inspired than Pandaria's. 3. The classes thing is the only one where I kind of see your point. But it isn't going to change how you play much, since you really only use 5-6 of your abilities while leveling, dungeoning, and raiding as it is.
Thank you so much for uploading all these! I began playing end of BC, but when I was younger my aunt used to play so I've always had a love for WoW. A lot of people think we're just huge nerds that waste our life away, but they just don't understand that it's more then a game really. I think you can really fall in love with the lore on this game, it's truly amazing. Blizzard knows what they're doing when it comes to soundtrack.
You are right. Am I fat? No. I'm the opposite. Do I see the sun? Yes. I go to school. But I do play WoW a lot. People may disagree with me here, but the newer expansions are still as fun as WoW used to be. I'm still in love with the game.

I really like MOP, but not as much as WOTLK. WOTLK in my opinion was the peek of Wow. but I have high hopes for WoD
WoD was kinda bad, I did love dungeons and raids, but for some reason everything past frost fire ridge (questing) was boring (Talador was OK), and even I myself don't know why I didn't love all questing in most of them.
I remember this time so well it's frustrating, being 13, playing this game like it's all there is in the world, waking up before school to play with your friend who has restricted access to the family pc, thinking life is stressful because of homeworks, god, life was so easy. I mourn for the Blizzard that once was.
No part other than the short and high vocals at 1:43 gives me chills and makes me imagine the Lich King and his domain. Have always been my favorite part of the entire track.
3:01 anybody else just really appreciate that swell of music and then the mood change it does a couple seconds later with that woodwind instrument? then at 3:40 it climbs back up to being this glorious song with so much hope despite facing the worst evil to ever evil in the game.
This gives me so much nostalgia of doing the winter vale dailies, dcing ever five minutes in a raid, and sitting in my cold af house at midnight as we're having a raid party in the living room. Good times... Good times.
2:27 - 3:14, especially the bits at the beginning and the end, are the defining moments of this track for me. So haunting and nostalgic; this single bit probably sums up the entire expansion for me.
no ones pc could not handle it at time, because dalarans lag problem was design flaw.dalaran was little zone with too many npcs and players from both factions
does nobody talk about that masteful and triumphul part at 5:27 ? it pumps you up for the following portion of the classical WoW theme. I always think about this part of the soundtrack whenever I see the climax of the "Battle for Azeroth Trailer".
+Gam'zath Fleshlo'gosh I've always played wow private servers because I have no money to play official servers, but I remember going into the launcher and wondering why it would never open. It was so frustrating. Yeah and I also hate MOP's talent tree and Warlords' garrison or whatever.
Gam'zath Fleshlo'gosh I'm still playing wotlk sometimes now on Warmane, didn't know about that transmogrifying, sounds pretty good. You play/played on public servers?
Abdul Hamze i have stopped playing retail wow actually, the transmog came in cata, until the new expac, legion were a new class again comes, were you can play demon hunter, the class illidan is, i chose to stopp play. and start to play on classic private server nostalrius, a private server just like how classic we're back in the 60s on retail wow. So, i rather play on nostalrius.
honestly, dragonflight is better than any of the past expansion (bfa and shadowlands). i really liked legion, but it seems suitable for the lore to end at legion
Best loading screen in World of Warcraft for sure, such epic music, nice spooky setting, set the perfect tone for logging into such a epic expansion! such memories, such memories...how i wish i could back in time and live it again...:(
If I were to choose the single most nostalgic song in my life, it would be this. The beginning makes me shiver so hard... I know that I can't play the WotLK classic now, because it just woudn't feel the same, and I want to keep the memories untainted.
Wotlk was probably the last great expansion in terms of storyline. Deathwing and Garrosh are unfortunately terrible end game bosses. What a pity that they featured Illidan and Arthas, 2 of the greatest characters from WC3 so quickly.
They're not really major characters though really. I mean they're important, but not major. I'd like to see them too but i'm not dying to see them back yet. Being a warlock i like that im gunna be able to see Gul'dan and that whole story in WoD.
they're major characters in the warcraft universe and in warcraft 2. I'd say the one who led Alliance forces to push orc forces back through the dark portal plays a rather significant role in the storylin...
I really hope sometimes that the bad guy wins in WoW. Not winning by killing us all, but imagine this for a second : we fight the Lich King but at 10% he bumps us to the side and gets really angry. So angry the entire ICC starts collapsing and we have to make our way out in a tunnel like in one of the 3.3 dungeons. Once exit is reached we "won" the fight and get a reward but the LK isn't dead. On top of that because ICC collapsed, we now have an excuse for having to fight the LK somewhere else in maybe another expansion ? That way everyone in WoW knows the boss and really wants to deal with him next time. This technique is sometimes used in dungeons but only for us to kill the boss in a raid later. Why not use this on one of those big characters to have them come back stronger in another raid ?
Why the hell would the entire expansion be about the Lich King only to not kill him at the end. His death is part of what makes it such an amazing fight it was an awesome sequence and to not kill him would have made it pretty bad. This type of idea only works for certain characters like Garrosh and would be shitty with the LK. Also we never killed Kil`jaeden and blizzard said Illidain might come back so your idea is only born from LK fanboism and is actually pretty terrible.
I feel as if the music itself was a story, the first part, the opening scene of a hero waking up, taking the call and prepare for the war at hand, you can feel it in how epic the music gets specially at 1:30. But then, the music gets weirdly somber, and misterious that gives sad and sadder, calmer vibes, as if the heroes lost, and we're turned into lich king servants. Becoming sad and sadder as if hope was lost as if Lk won. But then, fanfare starts again, hope? Victory? Freedom?! As if the heroes returned and were fighting yet again advancing into ICC with new resolve determined to save the world. The music ends with a calm tone and to me quite sad indeed. As if it was remembering the tragedy behind its main villain. Yeah I think this music resumes our journey into this expansion
First time i logged in my volume was up. I didn't beat the dragon :( *flap flap* NEEEERRAAAAAAAGH!!!!! My mother came from another room to see what it was lol
WOW... dat feels. The last expansion of good ol' World of Warcraft. What a masterpiece of music. Thanks Blizzard for that incredible 6 years. *RIP WORLD OF WARCRAFT 2004 - 2010*
I started in TBC, but I didn't max level at the time. I remember playing my dads hunter and doing that weekly raid quest thing. He doesn't play anymore. I still play but only during the holidays now because of school. :( I miss being a 10 year old. Simpler times. I remember the roar in the login screen gave me the chills!!!
"Wrath Of The Lich King" is my favorite expansion. The music here is simply amazing in every aspect. Also with this expansion you got to play as the Death Knight and work alongside Arthas (The Lich King) and his whole story. Even that huge raid that lead to everyone trying to de-throne the king. FInally one raid group was able to take out Arthas and how Blizzard placed a statue of the Lich King in the game after his death (I think it was in Dalaran if I remember correctly). Everything about this expansion I loved!
Greatest Soundtrack of all gaming from log in to game play and log off I have some many great memories and there is no equal , WOTLK STANDS ALONE AS BEST GAME BEST SOUNDTRACK BEST VILLIAN PERIOD!!!!!!!!
the aaalll beginning of this song makes me feel... somehow uncomfortable but at the Same tame the First part expresses beginning a new life... pls dont let me be the only one who thinks like this.
What was the deal with that? People bashes the shit out of it back then and now people praise the holy ilvl. What's the difference? Both are a score of your average gear in some way right? What makes ilvl better?
+Hoomes it was a different world back then. Standardize of items was just in during wrath and everyone either hate it very much because of the lost of RPG element while others love it because of raiders no longer has to think so much about what sort of resistance set they need to bring anymore.
It was kinda different, there was a BiS trinket for ret pally from TOC and even tho it was the best option you could get for a ret pally it had a very low GS compared to other trinkets, the GS was not that polished. And also the lost of the rpg element when it comes to the standardisation of items, on the overall it was a great expansion on therms of gameplay and lore
The first time I played WoW (on trial accounts though) was during WotLK. I remember this music making the feeling of going into the game seem like you're going into this magical intimidating world, I think the part that was in the lgin screen should have been kept that way as it just felt a lot better
The "Lich King" was once a character named Arthas and he's one of the beloved characters of the Warcraft games. He and a demon hunter named Illidan were main antagonists from the older days, before WoW. You played their stories and connected. When WoTLK ended, Arthas and Illidan, the truly main enemies of the world "Azeroth" were dead. Though there are many great enemies in the lore, none are as pronounced as Illidan and Arthas. So, since in the end of Wrath you kill Arthas, many felt it ended.
This fucking music is seared into my mind and even when I succumb to dementia, it'll still be there I'm sure. I used to have WoW up on my computer 24/7, playing or not. I've done many drugs, drank many bottles and slept with 1 or 2 girls with this music faintly playing in my headphones across the room. It's wild how music can bring up such strong memories. I can still remember unique smells from those days... like body odor lol.
You know, as far as the story of the game is concerned, I don't think anything could really top Wrath. Arthas was pretty much the best character in lore, and his effect on the world is felt even in present-day Azeroth. That, plus the Death Knight starting zone, the fucking amazing soundtrack, and the build-up leading to Arthas' final showdown, equated to a villain we actually gave a shit about.
In the past, I turned away because the first few seconds seemed low-beat and not that great. But I heard the whole thing recently. And I LOVED it. Please, do not make my mistake and stop hearing this masterpiece to the very end! :)
"has sido desconectado del servidor" esperando 1 hora frente a la pantalla mientras escuchaba este sublime soundtrack, sin saber que lo tenía todo, sin saber que estaba jugando a la mejor expansión y sin saber que era uno de los mejores momentos de mi vida, gracias wow 😊 siempre estará en mis mejores recuerdos esta juego y esta perfecta expansión, por siempre el mejor mmorpg larga vida 🖐️🖐️🖐️

That's what nostalgia is indeed.

That emotion is called 'wistful'.
Oh yeah man. Feel ya ;D
the theme of "you have been disconnected from server"
when your character kept running and everything around you stood still, when the chat was dead. And a few seconds later you get thrown out. not fun
you think you do but you dont
and less fun when you're inside raid boss dungeon.
FUCK that is so true I can feel that rage rn.

the fucking nostalgia bro...omg...
Bro i wanna cry
we are goong back home. 2022
Wotlk was probably the last great expansion in terms of storyline. Deathwing and Garrosh are unfortunately terrible end game bosses. What a pity that they featured Illidan and Arthas, 2 of the greatest characters from WC3 so quickly.
GROM HELLSCREAM FOR WOD. FUKN PUMPED
Mircurial blah what's pissing me off is Blizzard still refuses to bring out Turalyon and Alleria till the expansion AFTER WoD. assholes
Except that Deathwing is a more important lore character than either of them and is a major part of far more events :/
I really hope sometimes that the bad guy wins in WoW. Not winning by killing us all, but imagine this for a second :
we fight the Lich King but at 10% he bumps us to the side and gets really angry.
I never really put much thought into raid design but this idea is FANTASTIC. I really wish Blizzard would see this and take into consideration.
I can only assume this is heavy sarcasm, because that's what they did for WoD.
Tim Turner Sorry I meant a bad guy we actually cared about. Not the least charismatic end boss since wow started
Oh, well, now you're just asking too much. That's totally unreasonable.
I've heard this music so many times, and I still love it. :)
I remember when the buttons were blue
I didn't beat the dragon :(
*flap flap*
NEEEERRAAAAAAAGH!!!!!
My mother came from another room to see what it was lol
Who is here after watching the announcement wrath of the Lich King classic ?
The best login music
When I started playing. God, the nostalgia *nerdgasms*
WOW... dat feels. The last expansion of good ol' World of Warcraft. What a masterpiece of music. Thanks Blizzard for that incredible 6 years. *RIP WORLD OF WARCRAFT 2004 - 2010*
THIS is my classic
I know there's WoW Classic, but once/if Blizz brings up legacy LK servers - count me the hell in.
This was WoW at it's peak.
TBC is up. Soon brother...
3 weeks before wrath dropped I began my journey in azeroth, havnt looked back. This brought back some solid memories
Best WoW expansion ever. Even installing it was awesome.
Who is still playing warmane? 🤪
By just looking at the screen everything starts to come up.
Greatest Soundtrack of all gaming from log in to game play and log off I have some many great memories and there is no equal , WOTLK STANDS ALONE AS BEST GAME BEST SOUNDTRACK BEST VILLIAN PERIOD!!!!!!!!
...he is pretty much anakin though. Warcraft anakin lol
+Sheut the far seer Except that Arthas was written way better in Warcraft 3 than Anakin was in the Star Wars prequels
+Sheut the far seer i've always said this, totally agree.
the aaalll beginning of this song makes me feel... somehow uncomfortable but at the Same tame the First part expresses beginning a new life... pls dont let me be the only one who thinks like this.
Yoshkowski { SULLY } it makes me uncomfortable too because it sounds *freezing* but it totally feels like a new beginning of adventure!
I was only 4 when this came out but I have such fond memories of watching my dad play WoW during this time
RUclips was only 3 years old when this video was posted. thats insane to think about. Makes me wonder what the oldest video still around is
rememeber back in time when people ask for Gear Score for raid? damn...
YEAAAAAAA!!!!!! HAHAHA
yeah it sucked... 4500 forever
I remember this music making the feeling of going into the game seem like you're going into this magical intimidating world, I think the part that was in the lgin screen should have been kept that way as it just felt a lot better
same :)
how music connect you the state of feelings long time ago is always amazing
That, plus the Death Knight starting zone, the fucking amazing soundtrack, and the build-up leading to Arthas' final showdown, equated to a villain we actually gave a shit about.
why do so many people refer to the lich king as arthas? Nerzhul deserves acknowledgement
Christian Weibrecht because most if the work was done by Arthas in WC-3
I still come back here, when like 8 years passed. I love this music so much. It's just special.
In the past, I turned away because the first few seconds seemed low-beat and not that great. But I heard the whole thing recently. And I LOVED it. Please, do not make my mistake and stop hearing this masterpiece to the very end! :)
The last true Warcraft game we ever got, everything after is not canon in my eyes
You sir have posted one of the truest comments on all of RUclips. I salute you
"has sido desconectado del servidor" esperando 1 hora frente a la pantalla mientras escuchaba este sublime soundtrack, sin saber que lo tenía todo, sin saber que estaba jugando a la mejor expansión y sin saber que era uno de los mejores momentos de mi vida, gracias wow 😊 siempre estará en mis mejores recuerdos esta juego y esta perfecta expansión, por siempre el mejor mmorpg larga vida 🖐️🖐️🖐️
The end of an era, I was so close to seeing end-game this time around. Finally hit level cap in Cata for the first time playing since vanilla lmao
This music means a lot to me, because I started playing in Wrath and being totally new, I fell in love with WoW.
