Hey quick tip. IMO, When you postpone quitting for a future date, you usually fail to follow through because of the pressure you build on it. It is better to start without putting the pressure of a specific date. Hope this helps.

Great video! Quitting will be hard, but once you are past it you will find your life can be far, far better than it was before. You can be healthy, creative, adventurous, and have lots of friends and dates. You will wonder why you bothered with heavy drinking and smoking.
Here are some hobbies that you might find enjoyable and beneficial after quitting smoking and drinking:
    1. Go for a walk or a run.
    2. Meet a friend for lunch.
    3. Read a book.
    4. Attend an exercise class.
    5. Clean your home or your car.
    6. Volunteer in your community.
    7. Play video games.
    8. Chew a gum.
    9. Meditate or pray.
    10. Listen to relaxing music.
    11. Do a crossword puzzle.
    12. Run yourself a hot bath.
Whatever you do, Stay Strong, Take Care and Keep Going! 💪❤

I'm not really a gamer, and it's exactly a hobby. But GTA5 got me through the first 30 days. I also played some red red redemption 2 over the first 3 months. Worked for the exact reasons that you stated, easy to do, releases a dopamine, can burn a lot of time. Not really something that I wanted to make a regular thing, it is addictive, a waste of time for me as I don't really enjoy video games all that much. In fact, I played a little too much RDR2 during month 2 to be honest. But worked very very well for the first 30 days, I'm pleased I did it.

I still can go 1-6 months without gaming, although it is an interesting winter time hobbie.

Two years ago I quit smoking. I smoked 10-15 per day. Then, several months ago a lot of family stress and I started smoking, but this time only 3 per day. Recently I started to get ticked off that I'm smoking 3 a day and have quit again. Frickin unbelievable but it is just as hard as quiting 10-15 a day. I have smoked since I was about 16 and now I'm 68. Sometimes I think you get to a point where you are just pissed off that something has taken you over. This is the closest I have come to quiting though and have stopped and started probably a dozen times.

I’m going back to being sober, knowing I did it once, means I can do it again. I hope one day I can come back and say it’s day 365 🤍🫶🏻

Day 20 today! Was a pot addict for 19 years! I have quit MULTIPLE times and failed. Been using this channel for over a year now! I FEEL AMAZING! My pot dealer actually came by because he was "worried" and put that shit in my face and I was able to say politely "no thanks". Saved around $500 dollars in these last weeks! Thank you Dr you are a godsend!

I’m on day 2 of quitting cold turkey. I told my best friend yesterday I quit. He still asked me if I wanted to smoke last night and this morning. He is such a trigger for me, I didn’t give in thank God. But I can’t believe he would ask me if I wanted to smoke after I told him I’m done with weed.

Same happened to me at work. I was used to smoking cigarettes during break like most of my colleagues. 2 weeks ago when I said I didn’t want to smoke 2 of my colleagues looked at each other in disbelief. I don’t know how to describe it but it felt like they wanted me to keep smoking , maybe because they also try not to but don’t have enough willpower.

Hi Dr Frank, I remember watching a video of yours where you stated that every trait that you have being an addict is the exact trait that you need to quit. You went through all of them 1 by 1. I'd like to watch the video again, I've search for it a good few times now but I can't find it. Do you remember what the title was?

Bro your great. I had chs 2 weeks ago and my body is better. But listen. It's like I have 3 personality right now. Its me, my addiction, and my body. My body loves me being sober. I haven't had a drink for a year. My body forced me to quit weed and it's actually been great but my brain hates that it can't escape and keeps trying to tell me to smoke. But at the same time my mind has been sharper and I love being aware! This is rough

Sooooo I know you're on a cruise. But can you make a post to interact with or a video about the reclassification of marijuana? I'm for it in terms of lessening the criminal burden (I guess, even then I'm not informed enough to make educated choices)but this to me comes as a shock and screams ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DO THIS!!! I've had plenty of time to be addicted to marijuana (10 years) I know what it did to me and how it has affected my growth since. I don't want anyone to ever think this substance is quelling their anxiety and helping with sleep. I hate marijuana!!!!

    • @whotshisface
      @whotshisface 4 месяца назад

But it does for some people. I've smoked for over 30 years, and I think nothing of going on a month's holiday and not being able to vape. I just change mode and enjoy my holiday. There's no wall climbing because I can't sleep etc.
We're all different: alcohol is like poison to me, but I appreciate other users experience it differently from me.
Worry about banning sugar.. Now that is awful for everyone.

Having resistance bands to do stretches and mobility exercises are good to have at home if you don’t have the energy to workout!
Yoga and stretches are nice after a long day at work, especially if it’s a blue collar job! Keep the joints healthy.
