I don't get it how all big news outlets are reporting this as the end of days for SE, when it's actually a good thing both for SE & their important games. lol
They make it sound like a big deal but it really isn’t, since selling off Crystal Dynamics to Embracer they have been focusing a lot more on stuff they actually want to do instead of other titles to invest where they have no interest or direct involvement in to begin with

Half of Meta's R&D costs go into VR glasses while their primary revenue source is Facebook. If that company suddenly expensed its VR division in the financial notes and ceased its operations to streamline its production goals for its primary moneymakers people would rightfully take notice.

Losing $140 million dollars or 22.1 billion yens is devastating to a company. Many companies have gone under losing that much money. You guys are saying that's a good thing 😆 🤣 😂
@@kevinburke1325it is but i think the point here was, that money loss is gonna stop there. They cancelled some of their games so instead of investing more money on those games in hopes that it’ll profit when released, they will reinvest the money instead on games that will actually sell and make them money. The CEO is definitely trying to fix the company by focusing on quality games that will actually make them bank.
i thought the report said an expected loss, from cutting those games. not that they lost that much already. its essentially an expected loss from the restructuring of their products going forward.
I hope they didn't cancel the long-awaited Dragon Quest III 2.5D Remake.
I'm not worried about part 3 getting cancelled, I'm more worried about them scaling it down to make budget and being a just get it done project.

Don’t worry this has absolutely no impact on FF7R. If anything part 3 will be going all out to bring in more sales. This news is being largely misreported to exaggerate a specific narrative.
@@ocean_0602 They went all out with Final Fantasy XV, XVI and Rebirth. and those games still didn't sell as well as Square hoped.
Part 3 is already done,they're just working on getting the VA's as well as quality checks which typically take a couple months and other things that they gotta sort out

I hope this further pushes the CEO from his ridiculous obsession with wanting to get block chain/NFT garbage

Im reading they are done dividing the business units. Keep them together to get games out faster. Creative Business unit is on FF7R 3 and KH4. CBU2 is on Dragon Quest. CBU 3 is on FF14. CBU 4 is on Mana.

It is what it is, tho I'm a wee bit confident that say Octopath, Bravely Default and Star Ocean will continue to live, as their recent offerings SO2R, OT2 and BD2 have been successes and I'm still excited for that upcoming Visions of Mana, as that game looks like will scratch my itch while waiting for KH4 and DQ12, given that game looks as colorfully beautiful as KH3 and DQXI.
The budget is decided before production starts and is usually evaluated halfway through 😊
IMO it might not actually be that huge of a deal as we outsiders imagine. It could be several AA game projects similar to Diofield Chronicle, Valkyrie Elysium, or spin-offs such as FF Origin, Forspoken etc. Diofield Chronicle, for example, definitely was setup to have sequels and was not a bad game. But nobody played them. Remember SE started several huge original IP games a few years ago. It almost looks like they were throwing mud on a wall to see which one sticks. It might just be them saying they are changing strategy and not going to do that anymore. Which is unfortunate, but could also mean concentration of resource on FF & Dragon Quest series.
Square Enix has had a rough couple of years with really bad releases. Not talking final fantasy, I’m talking Babylons Fall and Forspoken. 2 games they dumped a crapload of money into that bombed.
Forspoken was a huge mistake, along with that new saga game. I understand if they want to explore what they want to make, but when it doesnt sell well.. you just shot yourself in the leg. Dont forget all the other trash games they put out like that one car wash simulator, the lame marvel games, the trash tomb raider games, all this garbage they could have used to push out worthy titles
I don’t know much about their financial situation at all. I care about viir-3 and hope this doesn’t hurt things. I always felt Square was better at going for quality better than quantity. When they go out of their way to do something state of the art, they always seem to get good results. But I really don’t know enough about this stuff. Keep it real, Dashing!
Side note, it was the right move to shelve Batgirl. The movie was reportedly aweful. Guess what happens if your studio keeps releasing bad movies? No one is going to show up fornthe next one. Look at Marvel right now.
While it sounds like a big number, I think the loss possibly could be greater if they stayed on the same trek perhaps? The silver lining is they will focus on games that they know or are most confident of their success. Hopefully a remaster with added new content for DQ VIII would be one they could focus on. FF VII itself is such a long running series they have plenty to do besides part 3 of the trilogy. They could remake Before Crisis, remaster Dirge of Cerebus perhaps add the multiplayer element in it that never came out, maybe as DLC for part 3 have the First Soldier Simulator that was originally the mobile game available on console online. That was a very fun game. Of course that's not all... then there is the KH series and the other FFs in the series. There are tons of remakes that would instantly sale, the biggest one would be Chrono Trigger. Maybe they will have more resources for DLCs for the trilogy which would be cool without hindering part 3.

Square Enix loss due to FF7 Rebirth been a flop.
This Is ridiculous, for at least two reasons: a simple game would NEVER cause such a loss,and the costi of Rebirth it's been almost totally covered by the exclusivity acquired by Sony

Bad leadership clearly. A leadership that doesn’t understand gaming, overestimates their analytical & strategy skills and mismanages the IP.
Ever Crisis is a disaster game. Horrific player experience that treats the player as an enemy by trying to addict them into a grind loop and buy in app. Game had so much potential if it was an actual.. game?
First Soldier would have done just fine if they took it to consoles aswell like literally every player asked for. Gaming on a mobile is horrible and I only enjoyed it because I had iPad Pro + PS5 controller set up. A set up that cost 2x a PS5 so clearly most ppl won’t be doing that.
This whole mobile focus due to number of devices vs consoles ignores that most ppl don’t have a phone for gaming whereas everyone with a console does have it for gaming.
Going back to mobile though, don’t port ever crisis and first soldier… literally have a Cactuar Crush rip off of Candy Crush etc with cute cactuar, moogle and chocobo graphics and sfx and you’ll have a good shot. Release Queens Blood, Triple Triad and others as mobile games etc

It's imperative they make all their games available on as many platforms day-and-date as possible. Everything on PC. Also they should try to retrofit Rebirth to make it playable on PS4, somehow. The userbase is too large to ignore.
