Happy New Year! (and decade?) I love starting the year off right with a game I love like Lost Odyssey. Created by the original masters behind the Final Fantasy, let me tell you this game holds up, and one I consider Mistwalker's best of their brief history. The console exclusivity prevented many from playing this, but I hope this recap gives everyone a taste of the great characters and world that was fleshed out. Though this was meant to come out in December, real life challenges delayed things a bit, so thank you for your patience. Please enjoy and thank you for your continued support! Next RECAPitation will be: Xenosaga Episode III
I'm so angry this game never turned into a series. This, Infinite Undiscovery, and Rogue Galaxy all deserved sequels. They are the most underrated rpg games I've ever played.
This and Blue Dragon were the reason I owned a 360 way back when. While everyone else was playing Halo and Gears of War, I was playing these.. ..and Viva Pinata. 😂
I can tell even from the beginning that you love this game, with how you wax about the game's numerous and complex mechanics from character advancement to extra content; your tone is different from other RECAPitations. I absolutely love your word choice and storytelling voice in your RECAPitations, but your characterization of Jansen is the stuff of legend in this RECAP. Where I expected a game of racial undertones from the onset (Gongora's plot of being an Immortal autocrat aside), I'm pleased with the delivery of a tale of a battlefield with political intrigue, betrayal, family, and loss. Salutes are also given to the game's narrative by splitting the party multiple times as a result of the game's plot. It always feels convenient when a party stays solvent from beginning to end. I also give bonus points to this game's tale by creating adult characters who have families, children even, that affect their actions. Also, Sed used the boost to get through, hahahah! Love your humor, Black Mage. Thank you very much for the hard work on this RECAPitation, and I'll meet you on the next battlefield.
I remember playing this, and crying over Kaim’s dreams, but I never beat it. Thanks for telling the story. I got further into this game than I thought.
I mean i love LO for a lot of reasons but XIII besides the linearity was a good game and i did enjoy it's battle system a tad more than the typical turn based system.
I first got this game on the recommendation of a GameStop employee. I played the hell out of this game. It totally flew under the radar and is an amazing game!
Probably won't believe me, but the same thing happened to me. A bit of a shock when I opened it, and found multiple discs. But, It really does capture your attention with the cutscenes and all the storylines.
I absolutely loved my playthrough of Lost Odyssey, it was the first game to ever make me cry. Your videos have gotten so much better brother, keep up the excellent work!
Omg,this is one of my all time favourite JRPG. I bought this game on the recommendations of strangers on the Game Trailers website. Still have the game and my Xbox360
Thank youuuuuu! Can't wait to watch this, haven't played since 9th grade! Lol wish this had came out on other platforms. In today's day I don't have time to replay many games so this is slick my favorite channel haha REQUEST: DO TALES OF BERSERIA! Lol

I was so excited when this was a Game with Gold during the 360 glory days. I don't think I ever actually finished it as I was trying to find all the treasures for the achievements lol. Thanks for filling in the end for me!
This triggered a memory for me, when I spent hours looking for the VERY last chest for the achievement (it was one hidden behind a desk in an office in the end)
I love this game. Don't have a 360 any more and this isn't on PC which is just ridiculous... Still an awesome game. Made me ball my eyes out so many times
I loved this game! A lot of the early/mid game bosses could be quite difficult to how exp scaling worked in this game. I also liked the idea that if an immortal character fell in battle, they would get a revive after like 7ish turns went by. The story was actually fairly decent as well. I feel like this game could've had a second part.
One thing I didn't understand is how Sed still has both of his legs. In the Seth's Dream part 2 flashback it mentions that Aneira bit Sed's leg off, but Sed doesn't appear to have a prosthetic leg and as far as I remember it's never addressed.
Lost Odyssey is deserving of SO much more praise than it gets. So many gamers, particularly RPG heads have never played it, and it truly stresses me out trying to explain this gem of a title to them. So much depth, development, and amazing gameplay... it deserved so much more. I honestly wish it was a Play Station title instead, cause I feel it might have made it's way to marketplace by now.
This was SUCH a good game!!! It’s really sad that it isn’t more well-known than it is because of being an Xbox 360 exclusive. I honestly think the characters, gameplay, and story in “Lost Odyssey” were much better than “FF12”, “FF13”, “FF13-2”, “Lightning Returns”, and even “FF15”!
I'm a FF fanboy and I have to agree with you for the most part. Of all those FF titles maybe Vanille, Fang, and Arden were even close to as interesting as most of LO characters. Gameplay is a tough comparison, but LO had very solid gameplay. As for story, LO leaves all of these FF titles in the dust. The only one that sounds like it could have come close was the extra content Square planned for FF15, which they never delivered on. In any case, LO got it on the first try where FF15 couldn't even deliver on a second chance.
@@josecruz8803 Being jrpg on the 360 is like trying to sell refrigerators in the arctic. Lot of people want those. But probably not there. Bought a used 360 to play this. Got a Red Ring of Death mid way through the game. I think I loved the game but not enough to buy an entire console.
Sakaguchi hates sequels...so, even if he had the funds, sadly, we wouldn't be seeing one. According to one of his interviews, he doesn't like sequels because he likes to complete a game or a story and then leave it alone. They said he left SE because he felt the Final Fantasy series was heading in the wrong direction. I don't think it was a coincidence he left when Final Fantasy started going in the direction of terrible spinoffs and sequels.
Damn I remember playing this game. Too me forever to beat because my last disk was scratched so it either wouldn't load or download onto the console 😭😭
Probably not ... Outbreak falls into that gray area of canon with its events and characters, so it makes storytelling difficult. All we know for sure is Alyssa Ashcroft survived and Rita Phillips existed. A remake would be appreciated.
I really miss playing this game, would be nice to have it ported onto one disc instead of 4. Unfortunately the US market was more focused on halo, call of duty, GTA, red dead redemption, guitar hero and gears of war at the time. The US market wanted to generate as much revenue during wartime to strengthen the dollar, patriotism & military recruitment at an affordable price. I still miss when drugs were illegal, affordable and everyone was able to share ideas as equals and not conflict over opinions as separate races & pronouns. Hell even the music and films were better, the Kardashians were nobodies, disney wasn't woke, and marvel & star wars were still independent.
This video gave me a nostalgia trip to one of the best RPGs ever. I wish this came to PC, Switch, PS4 and X1 with better framerate and good optimisation for the ports to.
