Edit: I'm recapping the original version, not Alter Code F, so don't mind name- spelling/translation discrepancies. Edit2: I should also mention Wild Arms will be the last new 'Series' I open ... outside commissions, going forward I will either do stand-alone games or focus on completing open series. (this is just a temporary softlock until I close out some series) Big thanks to the patrons to voted for Wild Arms in the polls. I will say this game has a lot of good ideas with mixed results on implementation. It was made by a studio that never made an RPG before and was working with launch year PS1 3D visuals (spritework is good though), and Boy are both of those facts glaring. That being said, its not the worst first try I've seen, and I'm impressed they went back to remake it, and made a series out of it (seeing how far they've come is nice). Overall, this is a rough installment, as the magic system and dungeon delving are the best part, but with the amount of wheel-spinning plot points, and average-at-best combat, the game is hard to recommend (play the remake unless you just want to appreciate the origin). It's not fair to call this "the RPG people played while waiting for FF7" as this has a lot more than that going for it. Watch the recap, listen to the music (which is good) and perhaps play the later games in the series. Halloween RECAP will be: Shadow Hearts
First RPG I’ve ever played and first one I’ve ever beaten, so yes this is excellent. Thanks for making this video in chronological order rather than the one in the game because it shows the story in a new light. Absolutely excellent.
Wild ARMS 1 and 2 were my very first JRPGs. My brother gave me his PS1 and a handful of games and I had never seen games like these before. Their mixture of western, fantasy, and science fiction (especially in 2) continue to inspire me to this day. But Wild ARMS 1 will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for this wonderful recap and allowing more people to be aware of this series.

I’m playing thru Wild Arms 2 again since it’s my favorite PS1 JRPG. It’s really something special and has a lot of dark moments and mature characters featured in the story. Also I picked up this save file about 30 hours in so I’m a little fuzzy on the first half of Disc 1. It bums me out more people aren’t fans of Wild Arms 2 and the Wild Arms series in general.
There are a lot of people that are fans of the Wild Arms series. It's just one of those game series that have been lost to time, and doesn't help that the sequels didn't do so well and have been dropped off.
A huge personal favorite of mine. Loved this game so much and I consider it the best in the franchise. Hope to see at least up to 3 on this channel. Great job and I love these recaps
I never played 2 but 3 has quite the story, and very unique characters. I love how they all have unique weapons. Shotgun, sniper rifle, machine gun, and dual pistols.
I finished completing Wild Arms 1 last week on the PS4 and it was really good. The soundtrack is memorable and I fell in love with it. The intro gives an idea on what the setting of the game will take place. Great video. Sorry I'm playing catch up on RECAP

This game certainly set the stage for interesting games. I love the Force Gauge and what it becomes in the future titles, but I do miss the Crest Graph system in this game. This series in general also has some strong OSTs, but the original carries the best one (In my opinion). I also loved the prologue that this game provided for each of the individual characters. It provided an excellent tutorial for each of the characters, their Tools (Another system I've come to love), and provided good starting character exposition by allowing us to find out who they are before they come together. I also compliment (Generally) the game's usage of the characters. All three characters received some excellent character development on their journeys, the shoddy translation aside, and I especially love the energy between Jack and Cecilia's characters. I also remember killing monsters in Saint Centour and when I learned they were actually people... God, that hurt my young heart and I still remember that sobering realization. All in all, I really liked this game and remember it fondly. I may have to play it again. Thank you very much for your RECAPitation and I'll meet you on the next battlefield. Wild Arms came out when I was 12 years old. The part of the game when the demons destroy Adelhyde shook me so badly I didn't play it for months. The music was so haunting and looking at all the NPCs dead was awful. Whenever I play it now I still feel that. Stuck with me forever.
Love, Courage, and Hope Guardians are released from the Love, Courage, and Hope Shards cracked by the power of each character’s emotion in that moment. The shards were acquired earlier at The Guardian Temple. It was a powerful moment for each of them. Those Runes are the best Runes to equip for each character for each respective status boost. Damn this story & game are so good. This game is a Hidden Gem.
Wild Arms 2 is where it's at. My second JRPG, after FF7 but before the Breath of Fire series.. WA2 was almost an obsession, everything about it was so cool especially the combat system.
I can't wait for WA3's recap one day. Its literally my favorite game, ever. WA is a close second too. I don't know what it is about this series but it just crawls into places in my heart I didn't know I had.
Another wonderful video showing me a game I've never played. This is what this channel is for. Also, in my opinion, Top 10 channels to fall asleep to. This is a compliment.
One of my favorite rpgs. The first one and the last one i played (I think 4) are the best! Oh and i was also obsessed with the theme song and learned it on guitar. Theres an awesome video on youtube of a guy playing it on acoustic and he puts both the rhythm and lead together.
Just a follow up as it serves as a true closure for Boomerang and Luceid: if you finish the last challenge in the Arena (unlocked by coming out of Ka Dingel), you fight Boomerang Flash, a combined entity of the two (Luceid being the sword). You defeat them and he gets a closure of living the life with no regrets, and you get the Divine Blade sword for Rudy (which is implied to be Luceid). In the Alter Code F remake this is how you gain Luceid's guardian force.
Among the first turn based role rpgs i got my hands on by sheer chance from trading with friends, game blew me away even though i barely knew how to complee the first hour of game play. The cinematics of these games always sucked me in and really made me feel connected to the characters... the graphics sucked but were next gen for the time its incredible to conceive how far we have come. 36:29: Cecelia "The next time you wake up, I promise you will see a peaceful Filgaia." Uhm... Wild Arms 1, 2, 3, 4... yeah, probably best to get lots of sleep! But this was a great Playstation RPG around the time of FF7. Fun, smaller cast of very dear cast, and the lonesome desert and soul melody in the opening. Also, I loved how you could change the name's of spells, items, or equipment, even minor things you could customize on the menu. Still, having battle was a riot when you would see casting in words on screen... "Cecelia's @#$%^" is cast. "Jack uses his *&^%%!" Rudy counters #$*&!! and similar shenanigans. Made battle soooo much more fun!! And.. interesting to explain yourself to friends. IF you could.. Still, its a GEM. Loved the series - 1 and 3 were my favs... wish they would have left the customize feature in.
can't thank you enough for this. This game has so much sentimental value to me as my mom used to play this for me and my brothers when we were young. I would love to be able to play it for myself now. Does anyone know any emulators that game work for this game?
I have a minor gripe about the western WA5 logo with the 5 chopped off being used for the WA1 thumbnail. WA1's western or Japanese logo would not look good on a white background, though. Maybe the one that appears on the title screen would work. Great video as usual.
Great point, and here's the thing: I thought the same, because (look at it now) the bright yellow is harsh on the white background ... but then again it IS more authentic. I'll swap it out and see how it goes
In terms of style I think 3 did it best with how it went all in on the Wild West aesthetic. It was also, sadly, the last game where each playable character had their own prologue dungeon to introduce their fighting style and exploration abilities.
the one exploit in the game you could infinitely duplicate an item depending on how you had your characters placed, and the one place in the very first maze that even i couldn't unlock, to this day.
To be fair, Wild Arms 3 is probably the only truly Western themed JRPG. I mean, no one, anywhere uses guns, the aesthetics save the dungeons are all designed to directly invoke the American West feel, and the characters are all archetypes you would find in a Western film or book. Lots of fun.
Edit: I'm recapping the original version, not Alter Code F, so don't mind name- spelling/translation discrepancies.

Rudy counters #$*&!! and similar shenanigans. Made battle soooo much more fun!! And.. interesting to explain yourself to friends. IF you could..
Still, its a GEM. Loved the series - 1 and 3 were my favs... wish they would have left the customize feature in.
Does the Golem wake up in future games? if so in which one?
One of the best JRPGs of my childhood. Wish they'd release it on Switch so I can replay again.
can't thank you enough for this. This game has so much sentimental value to me as my mom used to play this for me and my brothers when we were young. I would love to be able to play it for myself now. Does anyone know any emulators that game work for this game?
Did you manage to get an emulator?
Thaank you! Wild Arms 2 and 5 please. With few battle mechanics clip. Ty.
Wild arms 2 is my first video game . My favorite game
Loved the video. Not played the game since 1999
I have a minor gripe about the western WA5 logo with the 5 chopped off being used for the WA1 thumbnail.
Does anyone know the name of the song that's playing around 8:15
"Funeral Procession" off the OST - ruclips.net/video/j-hN2rtuDpU/видео.html
We need the rest of the series!
In terms of style I think 3 did it best with how it went all in on the Wild West aesthetic. It was also, sadly, the last game where each playable character had their own prologue dungeon to introduce their fighting style and exploration abilities.
Will you consider doing wold arms 2 recap if you haven't already?
pls make a recap of the Lunar series.
especially Lunar 2 Eternal Blue
Second!
You gotta do number 2 your videos are the best
the one exploit in the game you could infinitely duplicate an item depending on how you had your characters placed, and the one place in the very first maze that even i couldn't unlock, to this day.
Oh the absolute fucking nostalgia hitting me like a truck.
I love this game! It's the first game I finished for the PS1.
I should probably try and play the Alter Code F version.
How do you play back all these PlayStation classics? Is there a good PC emulator or something?
Wild Arms is underrated. Don't say otherwise, it literally makes me sad
