    Most likely in Missouri. Legally allowed to respond with lights and sirens to accidents.

      Hell naw, I still wouldn’t yield. That’s Police Impersonation. They are not emergency vehicles while driving and are only considered emergency vehicles when on the side of the road or highway actively assisting or towing a motorist. The tow trucks in Hawaii that supposedly contract for the police department do that here, it’s annoying as hell.

      That’s what I’m thinking. I’m subscribed to Ron Pratt, owner of Midwest Truck. When a tow truck is seen rolling code, it’s been requested to expedite.

    • @EmergencyGuy
      @EmergencyGuy Год назад

      I’d quickly yield. It’s not police impersonation under Missouri law or California highway law.

    I’m an emergency services tow operator in St Louis MO. Missouri classifies us as first responders, designates trucks as emergency vehicles and gives us the same authority as fire, ems & police to run red/blues lights and siren when responding to emergencies as ordered by troopers/police. We have to have the same training/EVOC, emergency vehicle operators certification. (Mainly for insurance purposes) Failing to yield right of way to us is same charge as to any other emergency vehicle. We only do so when public safety is at risk and ordered by law enforcement to do so. At times life is at stake, we’re called in to stabilize overturned vehicles with people trapped or to pull a vehicle under a semi with people trapped inside. Flash flood rescues, etc. Running code is extremely stressful and dangerous. It’s not done for fun or to get to a flat tire.

    I think tow trucks are commercial vehicles
    I don’t think tow trucks are emergency vehicles
    At first I think tow trucks are emergency vehicles but not anymore I don’t think so.
    Question 1. What do you think about that?
    Question 2. Do you like it?
    Question 3. What do you like about it?
    Question 4. Do you agree with me that I think tow trucks are commercial vehicles ?
    Question 5. Do you agree with me that I don’t think tow trucks are emergency vehicles ?

    There's a tow truck in Chicago 60649 that makes rounds in the morning using some sort of pa speaker playing siren sounds telling people to wake up or else they're car gets towed. Bizarre

I had an Alameda SO deputy give me a hard time for having white flashing with amber on my visorbar in my wrecker.

      Beam NGcrashes in Missouri tow truck are classified as emergency vehicles there they are aloud to run red and blue lights and a siren but they are only allowed to use the red and blue lights and sirens when told to expedite by law enforcement or fire department but if they get a regular call to a broken down vehicle they can only use the red and blue when on scene which obviously assists with safety since most drivers don’t follow the slow down and move over law and obviously if they have red a blue lights drivers are more likely to move over since they associate red and blue lights with law enforcement

      Some accidents involve entrapments where someone can be trapped inside a vehicle. In some states tow truck and wrecker operators are trained in extraction just like firemen.

    • @jamesevans938
      @jamesevans938 4 года назад +1

      Yes but let’s say that there’s a accident on a major like a interstate or highway and they have had to close the road then what will the tow truck do because they will be stuck in the traffic traffic now yes in some cases if there is exit ramp near by then they exit the highway and rejoin past the accident and then drive up the wrong way but that can only be done if the road is completely shut down because otherwise the tow truck will be stuck in traffic for hours like up 3 hours just trying to reach the accident and obviously police and trooper want to get highways open as soon as possible so in this case since it’s just a rollback the police requested that the tow truck run code 3 so they can get on scene and clear the road as soon as possible but in some cases if it wrecker or a rotator (large crane that doubles as a wrecker) the tow truck might not of been requested to clear the road of vehicles but actually requested buy the fire department because smaller departments only have so much equipment in their rescue truck so they might call on a tow truck which carries the same equipment to stabilise vehicle as the fire and on rare occasions a tow truck might be needed to actually free the driver such as a car under a semi in that case a rotator is needed to light the trailer off of the car so the fire department can access the occupants of the vehicle some large department such as LA country fire department and Miami dade fire department have brought a rotator for these such emergencies but smaller departments can’t just the purchase because they might only need a rotator once in two years so in that case the tow truck companies are called in hence why some states classifies tow trucks as emergency vehicles and tow truck operators as first responders so they can run lights and sirens if they are needed to but also allowing tow trucks to run red and blue lights increases safety for the operator since more people are likely to slow down and move over for red and blue lights because their first reaction would be to think that it’s the police on the side of the road than they are to amber lights which quite a few drivers simply ignore and don’t slow down and move over even though it’s the law to slow down and move over if you see any kind of flashing lights on the side of the road

      Its not over until the road is clear more people can get hurt in chain reactions because the traffic is stopped. The faster they can get there it would be less chance of more crashes.

    • @Pyro4100
      @Pyro4100 3 года назад +1

      The emergency is not over until the roadway is cleared and traffic flows restore to normal what most people don't understand is the impact traffic as long as there is a scene the potential chance of a secondary Collision is high which is still a risk itself to life reducing that risk by getting the crash cleared quickly is the optimum goal
