Love how you always ask techs to explain how something works and then you do all the ezplaining. You're the man!
Just a suggestion for any of the pins is to camfer the ends (.050" for the first 1/4') for a lead angle and if the pin is cross drilled for retention, is scribe the end of the pin with the location of the hole.
Also if you take a brake cylinder hone, clean the pin holes out of paint and debris, and a light coat of grease or oil.
Nice looking machine, bucket and thumb.
I like how Mike says " so tell everyone about the thumb and difference ".. Guy gets 3 words out and Mike talks for 10 minutes and rep doesn't get a word in...you didn't give the poor guy a chance.
Mike probably knows more about it than the rep.
I like it as well since the experience &/or EXPECTATONS of the "USER" is so important to hear about over what is from the drawing board. PLUS, MIKE gets excited over new/improved products. He did ask several pertinent questions. I think it's all good. Sonny
Lol you’re right Mike probably knows more about the different types of thumbs anyway!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Scott Sime: I was thinking the very same thing. If you ask somebody a question you should give them the opportunity to answer. It's the polite and humble thing to do.
👍 Every time you are in the shop with Lt Dan back there, I think it is time for more Dan.
Now that DP saw the speed settings on the thumb controller, you know he's going back in and bumping it up from 2 to 5, and the joy stick functions will match the 120. LOL
I like all pins to be made like bolts with a castellated nut on one or both ends to prevent the bosses from spreading. The pins also need a good taper to help direct them through the hole. When pins are held in place with a cross bolt, the bolts tend to break or shear when the pin gets hit. Then the pin slides out and things get bent.
Hell yeah! I know the American flag won't last and I'm Canadian but the little touches like that show the difference between cranking out product solely for profit or making a long standing product you can have pride in! Thanks for another gooder!
I like that saying (we do it for you we do it for America) that’s awesome thanks for sharing buddy god bless everyone
Thanks 👍
It's not about reading the small hash marks on the tape, it's the part when you get older of seeing the hash marks lol. 👍🇺🇸👍👊. Adjustment tool=BFH
WOW! The HYUNDAI is now how it should have been. And in retrospect, me thinks the ENTIRE TEAM contributed in making this happen. MIKE was not giving up what the user had to have but WB techs chimed in and knew their stuff. My oh my it's like a fully working human hand! I'm impressed. Thanks to you ALL! Sonny
Awesome ! Glad you got got to work with them . And they came to Derby to help . That's a nice mid size machine.
I guess we better give this video a "Thumbs" Up!!! Those guys looked pretty good in their "Dirt Perfect" hats!!!
Now you can get some work done !!! Good addition to HX85. This must have been the day Captain was doing the tyre change on C8500, now the cat can officially come out of the bag !!!
Good thing you had all that help just so you could show them how to do it and do all the work yourself lol great video Michael!
Just like a kid in the candy shop
take some chill time DP !!- Been there, Done that, Got the T Shirt !
I love your check you're awesome I'm a big fan from West Virginia
I was counting on Captain Kleeman to throw out a “Thumbs Up!” quip there. And he delivered.
from the Netherlands thanks for the video DP
Nice to have friends with attachments. Hyundai all in on you putting this HX85 through it’s pace’s. Nice work and looking good 👍🇺🇸
Thanks 👍
Now thats one fine bucket and thumb, now it's Capt. Kleeman time to test it out.
We love our weld on hydraulic thumbs. We work in so much non stop boulders. A main pin thumb sometimes dont fair so well in non stop big rock puts alot pressure on pin. Bye bye pin. I do have a main pin. Wrk breua on our 35 minnie. It is nicest to use for following the bucket
Mike would lose his mind when he broke the main pin on a Kubota mini when he saw the idiotic stress point right in the middle of the pin that Kubota seems to think is a good idea for greasing the pin. One Andrew Camarata figured out quickly how to make a MUCH better pin, and it didn't take long for mine to break and to make one just like Andrew did. No problems since. Thumbs DOWN, Kubota!
DP: Tell the audience the difference between the types of thumb.
Guy *says three words*
DP *takes over completely with explanation*
LOL, everytime.
That’s awesome of them putting a new bucket and thumb on there for you DP
Just a suggestion from a 54 year hydraulic guy. Look at Flaretite Seals for any 37 degree fitting. Its a cone shape sealing ring which sits on the Male fitting that has a coating of Loctite. The Loctite pools on the male cone when torqued to factory specs. Vibration will not loosen the female swivel fitting when these seals are used. It does come loose when you have to replace a hose. A new seal is required each time it is tighten then loosened. The only better holding devise is safety wiring the swivel nut. The seal are very reasonably priced when compared to the cost of Hydraulic fluid and machine down time.
👍 thanks
Sweet improvement
Love my thumb on my Bobcat. I do like that one a little better with the teeth and the closed body. I would prefer additional width to cover the whole bucket. Looks sweet! Happy digging!
Congratulations on getting the thumb installed. I hope that it's all you hoped for and that you have no problems with it.
So far so good
DP gets to play with all the good stuff!
It looked like the thumb wasn't "perfectly" centered on it's pivot at first -- seemed to bind up slightly with the bucket teeth when it was being closed...if so I assume it was an "easy fix" with the shims that were provided.
Your vid is so timely, we just picked up a main pin thumb for our excavator today. Now we know how to put it on.
Good deal and good luck
i like your new toy.
I'm probably one of the few who never even noticed there _wasn't_ a thumb on the blasted machine LOL
Already seen it in action thanks to the captain lol
Gonna fit Thumbs to our 210's, not popular in UK but i see the Benefit hand over fist !!
Awesome. Love how everyone works together 👍
Thanks
Great video DP, Love that you gave Captain credit, You guys are the best. Love watching.
Thanks Andy
Cross Over Valve can be a good idea to counter Pushing back with the Bucket ram
How cool is that, neat little video bro. Safe travels
That thumb sure will make the machine much more versatile, should almost be standard equipment.
If this dirt thing doesn't work out you can always get a sales job! Nice explanation of how things work.
Thanks
Missed opportunity for that "Thumbs" - UP! comment😁! I know cheesy, but good!
Oh yea brand new thumb and bucket
Great video y'all have a great week and stay safe 👍
Thanks! You too!
Always fun getting new mods
Not even going to mention the Volvo? Your Volvos the best all around Machine you have.
Yes it is and he doesn't even know. Get rid of your old crap and buy another volvo you won't regret it.
@@ryanhoward1013 I save so much time an money just by not having to transport my Skidstear or Dozer when my Volvo has a Push Blade I don't need to bring othet equipment to many jobs when the Volvo is all I need.
Looks like a nice set up, lets see it in action now.
Looks good Mike. I think ALL excavators should have a progressive link thumb mounted on them as stock equipment. I have never run one that i didn't wish for a thumb at some point.
Mike, I really hope you can find some way to own this demo machine, it just seems like a perfect fit for the perfect family of tools😎
This video explained a lot, well done and fun to watch!
Thanks
Looks nice 6months down the road no paint and drnts
That's very nice what they do
Very. Ice thumb but can you add to the teeth to make 4 to fit the bucket spaces?
Fractions? We don't need no stinkin' fractions!
Great video!
That DP sticker just raised the value to that machine.
...lookin' good, should get 'er done, stay safe and have a great week....
Thanks, you too!
Great video
mean time this machines been running around with the thumb on it for 2 months,,,
If they were number stamped it make it easier to order replacement shims if and when needed
Awesome setup
Awesome love the new set up even know we have seen it already on captions channel lol
Yes the new Bucket & Thumb is installed officially.
Hello,
Maybe a reason for that but I don't understand why the thumb would only have two teeth in the center and not 4, that would not make it wider and improve the grip of objects a lot, right?
in any case this little machine is superb, the thumb and the bucket suit it perfectly,
Hello from France, see you ...
Because they are designed by some engineer who has never run a excavator. I would loose my mind if I had to look at that thumb all day!
Most utilities contractors like that in small machines so you can see in the ditch almost a must
Looks like it's well made stuff.
Sweet set up.
awesome job guys!!!!
Amazing how many time the Captain gets referenced on other channels when damage to equipment is involved. lol
DP may be responsible for the notoriety.
Great looking upgrade to the excavator. Looking forward to seeing it in action.
Thanks for sharing.
were you been, it has been in action for a long time already
Thanks for the great information Mike!
Glad it was helpful!
looks like a nice setup
Should look underneath the parts tag and see what stamps are on it possible that I could have welded one of those
good video
"Two thumbs up" Get er done.
Is there a delay in the thumb response? I just bought one an there's a decent delay in it.
New thumb looks good time to take some trees down
You should check out there progressive linkage mini excavator thumbs👍
I have and covered that in the video thanks
Awesome upgrade
Thanks!
18:48 Double Nut? Well, I guess so. Also called a jam nut.
Wonder why they didn't just use a Nyloc.
You need that oversized wrench on the hose fittings as an over torque prevention device😁.
Another great video Mike thanks!
Thanks for watching!
You also need 42" buck to go with the machine. Then we can see it really work then.
salut la gang
Looks to good to use
Now We need a comparison of thumb power between New Thumb attachment and Volvo Thumb attachment...with the full reach of course.
👍
What is wit the sound?
DP ended up striking a fabulous deal with Hyundai and WB, can always dream right?
Wow love it
At my work we build a John Deer powered orchard mower/shredder that we have to completely unplug the computer, they say if we don’t bad things can happen when we weld anywhere on the machine 😱
Looking good
👍Freebies! Nice..
Got to love it watching salesmen and office people trying to do manual labor.
Thumbs up. 👍🏻
Lol thanks
Awesome Video!!
Glad you enjoyed it
I thought they said, no welding required? ;-)
I presume you added some primer and matching paint?
Lol yes sir
That's kinda like you and Kleenman. Nut to nut. Lol God bless
thumbs up!
So when you have the thumb closed and curl the bucket in or out, do you have to operate the thumb control and the curl control at the same time or does the tractor magically do that for you?
All operator
MADE IN AMERICA & WE LOVE THE AMERICAN FLAG ...
I agree
So I did a thumbs up for the new Thumb 😂😂😂
Good work man 😎👍
thanks
Been waiting for this video!!!!!!!
Hope you enjoyed
