I absolutely love how you include your family with your business and projects.
Thanks
Best thing about that truck is no emissions restrictions on it taking power away and less to go wrong.
Forget the winch I mentioned. The smile you had on your face after climbing the hill was priceless. Nice to start with something as new.Keep you away from the TV for a while.
That Project will be awsome .
"Old Glory" good name for an American truck.
All My Paystars were built in Canada
Boys don't grow up, just their toys get more expensive. LOL. I love your new rig.
You are going to need a step ladder so man behind the seen can get in.
Lol
Or a Skunk to chase him up there.
@@DirtPerfect Or a small portable trampoline that'll hang on back of cab.
@@anthonydefreitas6006 that was Matt that got to practice that move. It would be fun to see mat teach that trick to Man Behind the Scene. Lol
@@lloydholt6511 well in that case Matt needs to learn how to share 🤪
Call it Samson. Strong truck. Great find. So exciting.
They are powerhouses for sure, I ran those when I was in the Navy Seabees, hauled D7G,D8K,621 so on with them. You should call it "Devil Bee" A lot of marines called us that
Duel exhaust. Not even broke in, in any capacity. Definitely looking forward to seeing the progression.
Food for thought DP. I have a small dump truck with an extended frame and had enough room to add a fuel transfer tank between the cab and dump body. Can't tell you how awesome it is to always have fuel transfer on another jobsite truck. Don't have to drive back to the yard to grab the pickup, back to the job to fuel the equipment and back to the yard again to swap out the pickup for the dump truck again. It is by far the most universal and convenient mod I have ever done.
Straight pipes and Jake brake! We wanna hear you rolling in! 😁😎
Don’t forget some jump seats or a bench seat for the kiddos. (Or MBTS 😜)
That jewel would make a great off road camping rig, mobile kitchen and toilet, maybe a porch on back that uses a box truck lift gate carrying a side by side. A built in BBQ/Smoker... loads of dreams! LOL
Your happy, and the truck is happy to find a good home, its excited to show you what it can do.
Nice project. No wonder you're excited. Can't wait for you to get started.
Definitely an off-road beast. And a highway truck together good deal.
Love your colors choice. Green and black, Dirt Perfect and Simon's Trucking. Ask the kids and Mrs DP about names. Simon's Trucking on the doors and Dirt Perfect along the bed. Ok I have said enough, can't wait to see what you come up with. AWESOME TRUCK, AWESOME BUILD
"The Hulk" might be a good Name for it. It's Green and Mean!
It would make a 'Perfect ' off road camper !
Matt at Demo Ranch calls his 5ton Abel. I think you should should call your truck "Cain".... Build series becomes "Raising Cain."
The Beast - you said it with the kids. Cool project.
Keep the "deer slayer" on the front. It'll get some hard use in tight spaces. Cheaper than fenders and grill... Sweet ride! Don't know about this one but, that old "deuce and a half" I drove in the service, no road? No problem. Drop it down to low and make you own. That old girl would go anywhere. Ten inches of mud? Six wheels driving.
Looking forward to this build.
Wade would love to put a service body on that, might be the only rig out there with more chops than Whitey!
Great looking truck. Can't wait to see all the videos. Good luck.
That is one awesome truck. Can't wait to see upcoming videos and can't wait to see man behind the scene and captains reactions to it
Love the truck and when you told the wife it was from the Navy, and not army, I thought "Petty Officer" would be perfect name for your project truck. Petty officers are the working backbone of the Navy.
Nice truck! If you’re going to stretch the frame you are much better off to add to the rear of the the existing frame so you only have 1 splice. I also recommend step cutting the frame at the splice I know that it’s more hole drilling adding to the rear but the frame splice will be much stronger. As for the ac you should start looking for a junkyard cab with ac to rob the parts you need the hvac system is under the passengers seat and that cab was used on several models of trucks ie 4200, 4300, 5000 & 9300 etc. So finding factory ac components to do a conversion should be fairly easy. Just my 2 cents worth.
Have to agree. Adding to the rear of frame, then rolling axles back is more work, but the one splice is kinda worth it.
Actually not much advantage step cutting the frame, but if it makes you feel better, go ahead.
BTW, this stuff is what I do full time.
@@haroldphipps3457 I have been doing this for 37 years and step cutting is how I was taught, I’ve never had a truck or trailer frame break or crack but I’ve never done it any other way.
@@timrandolph115 , same here.
Except 42 years.
You could name it “ Army Strong” !!
Cool, the family even got to go for a cruise 👍🏻
You should name the truck six pak. Good luck . Looking forward to the build.🇨🇦👍
How about using a roll off bed as the base then it could be multi-purpose with interchangeable beds.
That's the perfect boat hauler. You gotta add LED light bars! And I would slap a camper on that "Jolly Green Giant" and you can go camping way off the beat'n path!
Vintage Air, they can put AC in anything.
Your just one great big kid Mike, BUT, I'm JEALOUS!!!!!! Jim R. UK.
You have one monster of a truck. Cannot wait to see what you do with it.
I love the way them trucks sound!
Keep the brush bar. It’s gonna be an off road truck, better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
An great name “Goliath”. It is what it is.
Love the way you think. Sweet truck needs a name.
Elvira - beautifully different
Thanks
cant wait for the video of you taking on logger wade and tiny.this build is going to be great cant wait
Ezzy! Name her Esmerelda! What a awesome truck!
That big dumb "i'm a teenager again" smile made the purchase worth it by itself
And it's absolute Mint condition! Very nice find. I'm extremely jealous.
Thanks
When you started talking about removing the 5th wheel, I figured either you were going to do a dumper or a street legal 6x6 excavator.
With the bed, you might be able to get away with not extending it if you set it up like a Silage bed, where the end of the bed extends behind the frame so the hinge is 4+ feet in from the end. It wont be good if you plan on feeding a paver, but it will put less strain on the frame as some of the load will be cantilevered behind the hinge, which means less force is needed in the lift cylinder.
Excited for the build. Seeing its green and BIG the name HULK?.......
"PAYDIRT"
Cool truck Mike. I'll be watching to see what you do with it.
That is an awesome name.
I agree, PAY DIRT. That reflects Pay Star and Dirt Perfect. And the term "pay dirt" has always had a positive meaning. When miners hit a rich vein, they had struck "pay dirt".
Yes! I'm excited about this build. Thanks for the videos. I Watch them all. Ron B Michigan
That's a pretty big smile you got there... same here. That's a beast of a truck... love it... EDIT: Oh yeah, that's some great videoing and editing on this one.
It's good to see Ol' "Domestic Operations" has found a good home! Take good care of her. She's a good girl!
The official Pepsi holder for military vehicles is a roll of duct tape just sitting on the floor between the seats.
🤫 oh hell why not. Most anything for DP!
Rear lockers👍 are for MUD & ROCKS ; pretty close to unstoppable. For hard turning surfaces, not so fun.
Build a conceal or a cooler / freezer bottom on it.
@@jameshicks4831
did that on a farm tractor
That's what I used when I was driving an old freightliner dump truck!
yeah and over time, in the summer heat, the glue will melt and run down, permanently gluing that roll of duct tape in place. I did the same thing before, works like a charm.
Very happy to see YOU so Happy! Maintenance was a top priority not only for "COMBAT READY" but each year the "IG" (Inspector General) came through for an inspection and in the military you DO NOT FAIL that biggy! NO, don't ask me how I know! Have fun Mike and I doubt you'll break that thing. GO FOR IT!!! Sonny (CT)
Needs twin straight stacks really let that Cummins sing then
That’s is awesome! I vote for the name Miss America! Lol.
The Beast!!!! You said it twice!!!!
Like it
I agree 👍
What a fantastic project for you to do. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
Thanks
That's a beautiful beast that will go everywhere .nice project 💪💪 1 A BIG Winch 😋 then some kick ass spot lights and so on 🤣🤣🤣
Dirt Perfect's BEAST
Mike since it is double framed when you cut the frame and stretch it don't cut both double rails in the same place, stagger the cuts and then plate or triple the entire frame behind the cab since your going to be primarily off road
Good idea. Double grill good 6-8' longer for a storage/toolbox behind the cab. plus making a sloped front of the box. Just suggestions
“The General”
Being a naval truck my vote is the flagship or the dirt schooner. Great project.
Dad you are building great memories for your kids. Good on ya!
Put a removable dump bed so you still have 5th wheel as back up for the Mack
Hook lift
And I like the green and black paint idea.
I like the Goose/ Geese air horn Gunner sounded off :)
The exhaust sounds really good👍👍
Gunner : Mom where’s dad
Mrs DP : he’s playing with his Christmas present 😂
😁
And all I got was a drone lol
Mike I would get another fuel tank like the passenger side and move the air tank and battery box behind it after you stretch the frame. I agree Vintage air for the AC. I am for the dual stacks with flappers, you can still have a heated dump bed with them. I can't wait to see more on it. Good luck!!!!!
I was at a total loss for how a truck that old had almost no use and was in immaculate condition (for the most part)........right up until you said it was a NAVY truck, then it all made sense. That truck has been babied and pampered its entire life, slept in a warm garage every night and consumed the best warm oils and lubes available. What better name for a Navy truck converted for swampy dirt use: S.S. TERRADACTYL
😆
That’s gonna be a badass dump truck.
I would call it bubba
Put full diff-lock on and find a bigger hill.
Absolutely love it! The first upgrade has to be additional and proper cup holders for Pepsi cans! Or a Pepsi cooler. Have fun with it! Congrats on the find.
Yes sir
I thought that would be your plan. We have one with a spreader body. It’s hard to get wives excited about trucks and tractors. 😜😁
I must be an anomaly! I love trucks and tractors, just don’t understand the details of the guts like you do.hubby had a 1909 Brush Runabout when we met and married. It was restored, had won many trophies at AACA meetings(his dad was a judge). It had been his grandfather’s sales car in the 20s-40’s.
Awesome I saw your excitement so happy for you folks🤙🏽❤️🌴🍍🌺🇺🇸
That truck just makes ya wanna play in the mud big time! lol
Yup a good winter project truck.. Top priority to make you a Pepsi can holder
I'd call the old girl Betsy. Please keep Captain Kleeman away from the drivers seat! As soon as I saw it I thought dump truck. Looking forward to the build! 🚛👍👍👍
Your family video was perfect. 😆 foot dimmer.lol. I bet your family has never seen a phone with rotary dial 😆 🤣 .. Great video
Id definitely change that exhaust to something like the Mack, That puppy dog sounds so awesome. If it's going to be an off road truck, you going to need beefy tires like the ones that are on it, and a winch for when a machine gets stuck or the Mack. Just never know when you might need it.
I'm hoping that he puts in a dual-stack exhaust system and keeps the fifth wheel on it. And when I heard Cummins I got really excited.
You need to look on iron planet for a dump truck that is not running.
BEAUTIFUL FAMILY. YOU'RE A LUCKY MAN!!
Thanks
This is going to be good can't wait to see you get started
Awesome truck, went on the first ride with Mrs DP and the kids. Going to be the perfect dump truck. Perfect for basement jobs hauling dirt on a job site. Should come out as good if not better than Tiny.
If you get “Dirt Perfect” on the grill, then the name should be “Dirty Girll
I want to see it pulling the 120 on the flatbed up that hill !! Great toy and future workhorse!
This is awesome, its ok to have it look military, but I understand. good luck with it, should pull anything
Call her " Big Bertha ". Awesome project can't wait to watch man behind the scene try to get in it lol.
Dog just looks at you pulling into your garage and thinks 'Dad's got another new project.' He see's the camera and thinks 'Oh, hello RUclips.' 😂😂
43 years ago i started driving a 1976, i think, Paystar 5000 with a six speed. It had the tag axel behind the tandems. It , the logging truck, had a Barko loader that could hold about a full cord of hardwood straight out and not drop a stick or fall down once i let go of the controls. I had the fan come loose and lost power steering on a corner and had to stand up to get enough torque to make the corner and not crash. Thank God it let loose when i was empty and that large steering wheel came in handy, pun intended. It also took out the radiator. Very large and spendy. It was very close to being alot worse. Another miracle from above, no doubt! It didn`t have air either, but in Wisconsin, no need. I smiled almost as much as you were when i saw it.
Keep the military theme going and call him sarge.
👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🗽🙏🏻 Enjoyed! Cool Ole truck! Gotta have dual exhausts for balance! I do believe Mrs Dirt Perfect likes it! It will make a good addition to the Dirt Perfect fleet, good luck repurposing it.
With it being a big bad military truck (heavily modified) and you are going to paint it green, I think "Sergeant Grinch" would be appropriate for a name. Either that or "Major Pain" since I'm sure the mods will be somewhat of a pain in the butt. Can't wait to watch this project as it develops. Stay safe dude.
lol like it
Looks like it is going to be a great build. Congrats on the purchase.
Tha'ts gonna be a cool build.
I'm going to steel one here. "Muddy Feet" . I like the idea of the extra fuel transfer tank. Cheers
If your gonna mess with the rear axles I'd do it now since everything is all wide open. Build from bottom up. Work smarter not harder
and have to deal with doing the front axle too?
@@randalljames1 hes just talking about changing the rear to full locking axles, not re-gearing it so i think he'd he okay to just change the rear axles out
I am impressed with your junior camera man.
😁👍
The smile on your face topping that hill says it all enjoy it. Your plans sounds awesome.
Antique truck guys use Vintage Air for A/C.
Vanderhaags Trucks and Parts has used dump bodies. And used lift axles.
Good idea to get DOT guy to help with axle spacing so you can haul the weight you need to. Sometimes putting extra wheelbase helps with interior or exterior bridge weight.
If you plan to haul a tri axle pintle hitch low boy, you need heavier tow plate than is on there now.
I like your company colors FWIW.
Top notch project truck. Can’t wait to watch the build. “Dirty Dog Transport”
Thanks
@@DirtPerfect Gday put a ozzy bullbar on it cheers
Mr. Dirt Perfect, it is fun to see a good guy get as excited as you did over the truck. Some people would look at it as a big hunk of old used metal.
The ability to Invision it as a greater thing is a great gift. 🙂 Yes there will be some frustrations 😬 on the project but, when you successfully complete the project the satisfaction is wonderful thing to experience.
A side note.
I work with wood and salvage wood I picked up on the side of the road and make it into something useful and sometimes beautiful. My wife did not understand why I waste my time and money on my project.
One day I told her that she spends her time and money on makeup to transform something old to become pleasing to look at. Believe it or not she sort of understands my point of view, no more guestions.
Have a great 2021 to you and family and friends.
Stay safe
Thanks Tim
