Hey Mike.. I went to MBTS house several times, even hit the bell and there's no one home?? Whuts up wit dat? What did you do with the little guy? Check the glovebox in your truck, he might be locked in!!!
Until that 1st tack went in I was holding my breath, my wife thought I had stopped breathing and was just about to call an ambulance. Really good job absolutely spot on.
@@DirtPerfect At some point, you two might have to rethink that "Man Behind the Scenes" thing. He is pretty awesome and adds a lot to your content beyond the welding/fab work. 😎
@@aaronbummmanbehindthescene4931 Aaron I like to qualify my opinions sometimes, so as a time served toolmaker who worked at Ford Research & Engineering (UK) for 40 years, I am seriously impressed with your work. One thing I will ask is if the side rails can still flex? When I was an apprentice I helped one of the fitters doing a chassis twist test on a fully loaded 20 ton dump truck. There was nothing fancy about it. We jacked up each axle one side at a time so the wheel just cleared the ground, and measured the side rail distance to the floor with a tape measure at a number of points along their length. It surprised me just how much those rails flexed. At one point the jack slipped off the beam axle onto the tie rod, putting a serious bend in it. I thought we were in trouble but the fitter took off the tie rod, straightened it in a big press, and put it back together and said nothing about it. This was 50 years ago and that fitter died years ago. Anyway, I'd like to think that your mods have not created a stiff joint that will focus any bending moments on the weld locations. It's that “The green reed which bends in the wind is stronger than the mighty oak which breaks in a storm.” thing.
Wow I thought I was the only guy that did welding in an office chair. Just love watching the the truck coming together, great job. Morning coffee break. Great videos Thanks stay safe
I worked at a company in Carthage ms for years we used to cut and roll the center axle and center tandem of trucks weekly anything from F350 fords to quad axle drops, we always made a straight cut and put fishplate on the inside of the frame when we welded it back, also a little helpful tip for the future if you ever do this again weld heavy duty turnbuckles in the inside of the frame to help with tweaking it. Keep up the good work we love the videos
Missed your announcement with audio issues, but well worth the wait. Enjoying very much. Thank you so much. During pandemic this has been a perfect fill in of my time and enjoyment. Looking forward to you getting it out of the shop.
Good afternoon Mike, I have all the confidence in you guys and it will be perfect. I done the same thing ten years ago and this was on my pulp truck. It is still great, thank you for taking the time to video
Aaron awesome welder no doubt. But why guys. Say stick over mig. ? Ive never got that one. You can buy high tensile wire. Ide take a mig over a stick all day long. Much cleaner weld , my mig will stick wire thru 1/2" steel. Ive had plenty of. Cert welders do jobs with stick that come apart , ive never ripped my buckets apart. Put together with mig. And we rip nothing but boulders every day of the week. Guys up our way are buying mig boxes to hook to there portable stick machines. I have a beautiful Miller portable. And it rides in the trailer to the job site just to sit next to 250 mig. So i can plug into it as a generator.
@@toddreynolds8875 I am a 50/50 welder but on boilers when we have x-ray done we have a bigger fail rate on mig than stick and I am by no means a master welder but I have seen some of the best and watched them bust out but I do prefer mig over a lot of things more or less it’s just welders preference thanks for the comment
Good Morning Gentlemen, love the truck name Lt Dan... Makes me think when Lt Dan was on the shrimp boat during the storm🤣🤣🤣🤣. Looking good not a short bend anymore...
100% brilliant job with that rebuild, the pair of you got it spot on, DP's new baby is going back together and MBTS is an awesome welder....And Comedian......Love it
you won't see me asking questions about why you cut rails one way and not another!!! i'm a little old lady in Texas that just plain loves your channel.....i'd love to get MBTS calendar...lol
This project shows how good MBTS is at his profession. I don't think you could find anyone better to help you with this project. That truck looks awesome with a stretched wheelbase. I can't wait to see the finished product.
That was an awesome job, cutting the truck into and lining it back up with the new add sections and all the way to the end of the weld in. I am anxious to see it on the road and hauling a load. Another great video, so be careful and stay safe. As always, Jeffrey !!!
I've done many of these an the only way to weld truck frame is with stick welder in my mind. Cause you you got good penetration with stick. Always double an triple check measurements before welding like you guys did. Good job Mike an Aaron
There was only stretched more Lt. Dan...... your smile !!! 😁😁😁😁 So far, so good you two !!!! This was my first job after leaving school, I worked at a coachbuilders, learned how to weld and cut and assemble and mount various truck bodies, really enjoyed that job until they put me onto vehicle electrics...... Hated it then, they got shot of me and off I went to work on civil engineering sites and got to play with heavy plant and made great money in the process. At the time I was only 18, and only supposed to take home a training allowance, but stuck in and ended up taking home over £300 a week!!!!
I have no doubt that will hold. You guys did a heck of a job. I believe you have a keeper in Aaron, I believe he’s done that kind of work for a minute or two. Good job guys and thanks for sharing.
How lucky you are to have a Great Certified welder known as MAN BEHIND THE SCENES to weld Lt. Dan's frame extension . Extremely Critical job that looks Awesome . More to come . Having a good work area and an office chair to use is priceless , being comfortable and steady really makes for great welding conditions . A good helper is also a plus . Great video .
I had to laugh, using a stick welder setting in an office chair that without a doubt will have weld burn holes in it when finished welding. Oh well, there are a lot of office chairs out there! LOL!!! Great project and thanks for taking us along!
I enjoyed watching, great job with the stretch. It was a genuine surprise to me when you got the pay star, i run one every day. I also have the same jack lol.

Went together rather well guys and done with plenty of humor too. Great stuff.

I helped a buddy stretch a trailer 10 feet... this brings back memories. :)
I love all of the different projects you do. This one may take the cake by the time you're done.
Doing a great job on LT. Dan. You got some beefy welds on that. Great ceiling shot!

MBTS is truly an artist when it comes to welding not only for you but when he is on power plant jobs.
Power plant jobs usually require being a certified welder.
I've no doubt MTSB has his certifications.
That he chose stick over mig proves it.

Super job guys. Good video.
So glad to hear you stick welded the frame. MBTS made an excellent choice 👌
