    Anybody else notice the Persona Music? Love it!

    What's amazing about the duel X arcade joystick is that the joystick itself and buttons are the exact same ones that were used on all the classic Tekken arcade games and other old school fighters that were in the arcade as well, and it has the white player one, and white player two buttons at the top as well like on old school fighting game arcade machines, it's got the same layout also, I just picked mine up and got mine for only 136$ not bad at all!

    I have wanted to build an arcade cab as well, but I just don't have the space. Still, Mame with the Hori works nicely and I use the X-Arcade with the special adapters to play fighters on my retro consoles. I am still getting that arcade goodness.

    I own the x arcade tankstick and swapped out the sticks for Il-eurosticks and changed the buttons microswitches for e-lites and haven't had a dead zone problem since

      Can you send me a link of which ones you replaced it with? I just purchased 2 of these and interested in changing them out so I won't have the dead zone

    VA-SA "Kai" is really recommendable. Fixes the "problems" in V3-SA for bigger handed players.
    X-Arcade is something you might want to try and see beforehand. I personally really dislike the feel of the sticks and the button layout, but that's of course a personal preference. Stick you can switch, but button layout is a way trickier to fix, if it bothers you. Also keep in mind, that X-Arcade controllers are BIG and REALLY HEAVY - excellent for building your own cabinet, but otherwise they might not be, what regular Joe would want.

    I'd go with the hori any day. In fact I will probably get one of these at some point and customize it. I already have two sticks.

  • @GameEscape
    @GameEscape  10 лет назад

    Yeah, each stick does have its downside...but the Dreamstick is generally a nice piece of hardware, and I have never noticed any lag. Perhaps it might be an issue on the competition scene, but for private use it is really very good. I still feel the HRAP is the best bang for your buck today.

    I know this is a bit late to join in the conversation, but I have the xarcade dual and when I first got it I noticed a dead spot... BUT at the time I got it there was instructions on their site for opening up your stick and adjusting the sensitivity in the event this happened. After I tightened up one of the sensors it worked flawlessly and has continued to do so to this day.

    • @GameEscape
      @GameEscape  10 лет назад

      Thanks. I am going to have to look for those instructions as well. Was it a quick fix or did you have to completely disassemble the directional stick and microswitches?

    • @evwaldron
      @evwaldron 10 лет назад +1

      It wasn't a hassle at all. Once it was open it took less than a minute to figure it out and fix the issue. For me, one of the major selling points was that X-Arcade actually makes and sells cabinets to go with them. It basically IS a full 2-player arcade board. The other selling point was that MAME has presets specifically for it.
      The cost of the adapters for consoles is a major drawback though....

    I always thought the X-arcade joystick was okay as a "beginners joystick."

  • @GameEscape
    @GameEscape  11 лет назад

    I would agree, although I think it's compatibility with multiple consoles puts it in a category of its own. It definitely has the feel of a novelty item though. What do you think is the best pro joystick out there?

    So technically the DreamArcades Dreamstick will work for pc too because its a 360 controller right?

    • @GameEscape
      @GameEscape  9 лет назад

      AccelBlue I believe so, but I have never tried it. It would probably require that wireless dongle you had to use to get the wireless 360 controllers to work on PC.

  • @MrTerrificII
    @MrTerrificII 10 лет назад

    I have NO idea where you got the belief that the X-Arcade Joystick is $100.00! The cost is $199.99. Plus, it costs $69.00 for all the current adapters {X-Box One and PS4} NOT included because they have not been manufactured yet, AND shipping is $19.99 putting your total at $289.97!

    • @GameEscape
      @GameEscape  10 лет назад

      MrTerrificII The stick I was reviewing is currently $129, and it was discounted to $99 when I got during the Christmas season a few years back. The stick that is $199 incorporates the trackball. You are right though, the adapters are pricey.

  • @Dwebgamer36

    How did the buttons feel on the X-arcade stick? I'm planning on building my own cabinet and was going to layout my own control setup. However, I was curious how the buttons actually felt.

    • @GameEscape
      @GameEscape  9 лет назад

      Dwebgamer36 Buttons are serviceable, but not great. If you are building your set-up from scratch, you can do much better than the buttons that Xgaming uses. The Xgaming stick is nice because of price point (on sale) and its compatibility, but I am sure serious, competitive players would not choose it over custom configurations or higher-end sticks.

    Hola soy propietario de un x-arcade doble de los mas antiguos. Es decir, el que tiene la salida de puerto serie y al lado un salida de teclado ps2 mini. Este joystick se diseño para jugar en pc antiguos conectandolo al puerto de serie, es decir de puerto serie a puerto serie. En mi antiguo pc yo jugaba asi, porque lo dectectaba como un teclado. Es decir, que tienes un joystick que se conecta como teclado es algo que nunca he logrado entender.
    Al cambiar mi pc ahora este ya no lleva el puerto serie como todos los de ahora. Y he estado algunos años sin poder conectarlo. Tuve que comprar un adaptador serie a mandos ps2 o sea de playstation2, y ese cable que terminaba en los dos conectores identicos a la play2, los enchufe en otro cable que compre que por el otro lado terminaba en conexion usb. Ahora viene lo raro. El x-arcade asi no funciona tampoco, y tuve que buscar unos controladores llamados tiger/ps2 para windows, porque claro ahora el x-arcade era como si fuera un mando de ps2. Al instalar estos controladores en windows, lo detectaba como un mando de ps2, con todas las buenas y malas cosas. Ya que un stick analogico no es una palanca. Y asi estuve jugando al mame en pc años. Tambien de esta forma puede jugar en la ps2 en la consola. Pero nunca pude jugar a juegos que requerian joystick en el pc. NUNCA.
    Ahora hace poco me he comprado un cable que va del puerto serie del x-arcade y que tiene dos salidas; una mini ps2, es decir teclado y la otra usb. Bien pues resulta que de ningun de las dos formas funciona al conectarlo al PC. Ya hora viene lo raro y estupido y no comprendo como esta gente de X-arcade hicieron tan mal este joystick. Para que funcione tienes que conectar un teclado ps2 a la entrada ps2 del X-arcade!!!??? Que truño es esto señores de X-arcade? Osea que para jugar con mi X-arcade necesito al lado un teclado antiguo ps2¿ Amos no me jodan amigos. Pues asi es. Y de esta forma el X-arcade se conecta como keyboard o teclado y NUNCA LO HACE COMO JOYSTICK. Que quiere decir esto? Que nunca va ser compatible con otras consolas, emuladores configurados con joystick como hyperspin, etc. Es decir una mierda pinchada en un palo señores de X-ARCADE.
    Si os fijais, ahora ya lo venden con puertos USB, y le han cambiado una tarjeta de conexiones que traia por otra. Pero, no estoy seguro de que sea un joystick y siga siendo un puto teclado por USB.
    Lo que yo quiero es un joystick, proque para jugar como teclado ya tengo el teclado amigos. Asi que en este aspecto 0 patatero para X-arcade que me estan haciendo gastarme mas dinero de lo que ya caro me costo el bicho.
    Asi que ahora para jugar en condiciones, tengo y, que abrir el cacharro?! y si eres un manazas lo puedes joder. Comprar la tarjeta USB para que funcione la conexion USB , y no tener que estar con un teclado de ps2 pegado!.
    ¿Pero, alguien me puede decir si con esa solucion, el X-arcade sigue siendo un teclado y no un joystick?
    Al final amigos, lo estoy viendo, que lo voy a vender y comprarme un stick autentico o 2 de los de mayflash u otra marca. Porque ademas este bicharraco se diseño para usarlo en una maquina recreativa, para integrarlo alli. De modo que su uso en pc y en otras consolas esta limitado.
    Yo, no os aconsejo que lo compreis, no por su calidad, que la tiene, llevo mas de 10 años con el y funciona perfectamente cuando quiere funcionar claro XD!.
    A mi personalmente un Joystick con palancas que no son de bola nunca me gustaron, y de color negro y los botones negros quedan muy sosos. Si, ya se que se pueden cambiar y todo eso, pero yo soy un tipo de enchufar y jugar, no de andar moneando y cambiando cosas.
    Lo de las 4 posiciones, hay un video en ingles que no se entiende nada, y que yo he probado a usar y no hacen nada, solo funciona una posicion y punto pelota.
    Al final pierdes mas tiempo en esas cosas que jugando.
    Yo como digo, que no vendan mas joysticks-teclados y que se dediquen a otra cosa.

      Yes, the X-Arcade is easily modded. There are some videos floating around on RUclips about mods. Mark from ClassicGameRoom did a stick mod and you can see the inside of an X-Arcade case in that video (although he had the one with the roller ball).

    • @GameEscape

      84Jaime11 There are switches on the top of the stick that allow you to switch them on or off for each button.

    I really like the dreamstick! do you know if they make one compatible with super nintendo?

    • @GameEscape
      @GameEscape  7 лет назад

      To my knowledge they only ever made one and it was for the Xbox 360. They are a company that specializes is custom-made, full- sized cabinets and I assume this controller was an attempt to test the demand and profitability of the peripherals market.

      I haven't bought a hori in a few years, but the one I mentioned in this video and a Viewlx that I bought in 2014 are indeed compatible with PC (though I have not tried it with SF5 or other newer fighting games). The PC compatibility isn't advertised, but if you set the stick to PS3 mode it should be. Might be a good idea to look on Shuryuken and see what people are saying.

    Mechanical is outdated. While it's a neat idea to have an old school arcade feel in your controller, with today's tech a controller could be made that, effectively, makes the entire surface of the controller a viable surface for button placements. For any given game you could just touch the place on the pad you want a specific button to be, and assign it's function. For the joystick you could make an ultra heavy duty setup that would last more than a lifetime using lasers as in a PC mouse. Rather than mechanical actuation, and movement discrimination, you could make a joystick that is seated very sturdy in a socket with grease, and make the above part of it subject to tracking by lasers. It would be as precise as any mouse, and last indefinitely. Mechanical will fail, at some point, either, sooner, or later. Whereas the design I am pondering would last more than several lifetimes potentially. It would have everything you need to play any game, up to and including track ball like movement but without the, actual, trackball, that will inevitably suffer in performance due to dirt, oil, food particles, dust, and mechanical failure. In this day and age there is no longer an excuse to make controllers with such shortcomings. Not when something far superior is possible, here and now. Should probably start to question why we settle for less at this point.

    • @jowee147
      @jowee147 5 лет назад

      The Hidden Paw you never had a console with a funky disk tray? It's because optical sensors(lasers) are pretty trash when it comes to longevity and durability. Where as mechanical switches are built to withstand literally hundreds of thousands of presses, with a usually marketed 1,000,000 presses "guaranteed". I've used the same sanwa buttons with cherry mx switches in my stick for over 10 years(sf4 madcatz). Even top of the line mouses for PC don't last more than a year or two unless you're really good about babying your shit. Digital inputs are also far more reliable for a fighting game. Analog inputs WOULD be more precise but the difference is pretty negligible. If they were really that awesome then more people would use them. Just my opinion though
      Edit: forgot to mention they've been making optical joysticks for fightsticks for decades now, if you're interested in trying out a newer one there's one called the "magenta optical lever"

  • @freewilliam93
    @freewilliam93 9 лет назад

    enclave buttons suck, especially for fighting games. and if the middle has a dead zone the stick is horrendous for fighting games. bad review. if you had issues pulling off motions with the hori stick then you need to get cleaner execution. the x arcade stick is horrible too.
