While eating a plant based diet wasn't a choice to lose weight, it did help in certain aspects. I hope you enjoy x

I wish people would educate them selves about plant based nutrition. I've gotten rid of all my medications, I'm no longer diabetic, my do's said id be dead by 40. I'm now 45, I'm down over 100 pounds and feel amazing. I wholeheartedly believe this is because I eat WFPB & SOS. Its great to see a fellow plant based gal killing it.
Spot on!
I loved your stern stance on being left alone as far as your position on your eating preferences. You do you!🍀🌿🌱
I've been plant based for about 6 years, and I did it for the purpose of losing weight. I have a strong appetite, and plants allow me to satisfy it without buying 54" waist pants.
Good auld volume eating!
I am SO thankful to have found your videos. I’ve been overweight my entire life and just started a journey to lose 80 pounds. You are the only person I’ve found who I can relate to and has actually covered things I’ve always struggled with.
Carla i joined Body Slims because of you . I started before the program did because I was ready. I’ve lost 10 pounds and I’m down a size. For the first time in years I tucked in my shirt !!When I went to the doctor the other day and they took my blood pressure it was the lowest it’s ever been. I am on one blood pressure pill but I’m hoping to get off it when I lose the next 20 pounds that I need to. I can’t thank you enough. Not only have I improve my diet but I’ve also changed other habits in my life that have made life less stressful. I’m not a vegan but I do eat a lot of vegan meals when I can. Can’t imagine how anyone could be negative about eating the food that comes from nature . Thank you for helping change my life !
Well done Lynn xx
🍀🥬 Carla, I found you originally on RUclips because I searched for “healthy vegan recipes” or something like that. I’ve been eating mostly plant-based since January of this year. I found some of your cooking videos, and liked your content. I eventually watched almost everything on your channel (I may have missed a few). I’m now on my first BodySlims program and already signed up for January. So far 4 weeks in I’m down 13lbs! I just want to say THANK YOU for putting out content that we is valuable, relevant and is leading people to positive life changes!
Also, arugula is literally life. It’s delicious!
During my active duty time in the military, and several yrs later, I was vegetarian/pescatarian. I cut out salt, fried foods, and any added fats (butter, etc). It was a choice as an animal lover. I was the healthiest I’ve ever been. US size 2, 14% body fat. I also began long distance running. However, several health scares, surgeries, and injuries kind of forced me into some meat and junk food. I’m sure I was self soothing with foods I hadn’t had in a couple decades. I’m slowly working back to where I was.
I love seeing Carla get so happy talking about healthy, delicious food! That's how I feel about the vegetable curry I make!! I also love watching rainbow plant life for recipes, now I have to see Carla's guide to get inspiration as well!
I just want to say that I absolutely agree with you about not being perfect! I am Vegan and I 100% believe that's not what Veganism is about. It's just making as many choices as you can that have the least amount of impact on animals and the planet. It's not possible for anyone to be perfect, society isn't built that way. Like if we have to rely on certain medications, where I live we don't get a choice if there's lactose in them or not. It is a lifestyle choice, so I understand why someone who eats plant based but doesn't adopt all aspects of it might not want to refer to themselves as Vegan. But I personally think any choice someone makes to lessen their impact should be encouraged, not judged!
Thank you so much for your very considered and thought out comment. xx
Great video Carla. Thanks for sharing
Great video Carla. 🫑🌶️🌽🥦🥬🥒
This has been an awesome video, Carla. 🌱🌱🌱
Thanks Carla! This video is so timely for me! Years of gut issues here which have worsened till I was fed up enuf to really do some research and be willing to radically change my eating habits. I’ll admit I was once one of those people who would do an internal eye-roll when someone would say they are vegan, but the more I learn about plant-based eating being recommended for not just IBS (that I have) but helping so many conditions or diseases, the more I know I need to change. Your video has helped that. 🌱
Thank you so much Pat, I'm so glad it's helped. I honestly can say I know I feel so much better now that I did before and that's largely down to the way I eat. Don't worry about being "perfect" but any change can make a big difference xx
Thank you for sharing recipes. I’m not on instagram so appreciate what you share on RUclips!
🌱Thanks for all you do, Carla 🖤
🌱Great video! I loved the explanation 👌
🌱 I loved the recipe you included here for courgettes. Would you consider doing another video containing different ways to season the vegetables? I also loved the 5 spice tip for broccoli.
First time seeing your content and have inspired me, I immediately went for a walk while I listened and will continue every day. I’ve done almost every diet there is wanting to heal my skin and later in life to lose weight. I did Keto, Raw Vegan, Vegan, Juicing, Pescatarian, Paleo, to name a few and I am currently on Carnivore but I hate it. I’m glad some people found healing and i completely understand why carnivore works for them since it immediately stops cravings and for those with a much stronger food addiction it can be a life saver, but It’s unfortunate they think plants are the enemy. I was happiest being pescatarian but I gained weight because of all the junk food I ate and was too sedentary & depressed. If we are honest with ourselves we would understand where we went wrong instead of blaming plants for not feeling good or gaining weight. No one diet works for everyone so it’s important to let people find what works for them without judgment. Being on carnivore has helped me lose weight but I hate eating meats and fats all day, this just can’t be life. I just need to make a conscious decision at every meal and choose my well being, stay active, and have healthy fats for my mental well being. Every diet has its benefits but are they sustainable? If European & Asian cultures can stay healthy eating the way they do so can I. It’s unfortunate our fast food restaurants has reached them because when I lived in Europe for 3yrs I did not see all that or obese people & entire families would go for walks after dinner every night & they eat dinner very late. I lost weight when I lived there with all the fresh food & smaller portions, I went from 138 lbs to 118 lbs in 5 months and was not depriving myself. I will go back to pescatarian & be more conscious of what I eat, and walk everyday. I rather eat things I love and not feel deprived. Thank you!
Carla hello 👋, I find your talks so inspirational, thank you x
I watched your video yesterday about how to walk properly, I loved it. You motivated me to achieve 21000 steps. I love your mantra " showing up for yourself".... it made me very emotional. You're AMAZING, I can't wait to watch more of your videos. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH x
Awe thank you Helen!! You go for that goal lady!!
Good on you for promoting plant based eating & touching on the ethics of veganism!
🌱 Great content! I love how you always stress that you are not perfect. You have made mistakes and learned or you unknowingly have not been 100%. You keep things real.
Thank you so much Karen, this kind of comment means a lot to me. I think it's important that "influencers" or whatever people want to call us keep it real and don't BS people. That kind of "influence" causes comparison and self loathing when others compare their real lives to snap shots of influencers' "perfect" lives. I never want to be that kind of person and ensure that people don't pedestalise me, I'm just a normal woman like the rest of us, but I did the extras and we all can too xx
🌱 I adore your content! Thank you for the consistent inspiration.
My pleasure Naomi xx
🌱 Loved this talk! 🤗
EXCELLENT video!!
🍂 Thanks for all that you do 💕
I am not plant based but I do heavily rely on eating a lot of plant foods to bulk up my meals. If I had some ground meat I will always had a ton of different hard vegetables/greens/grains to it. It hugely increases the portion size and it tastes great. I truly admire how you give your information and how you live 🌱
Thank you so much Rachel xx
Hi Carla. Wanted to say that you really inspire me. When I start feeling like I could love it or leave it in my diet, I watch one of your videos. And you seem to have one for whatever mood I am in. I started my weight loss journey this past January 2024. I was 342 pounds. Today May 8, I am 289. That's 53 lbs. It's my first successful diet were I feel confident that I could actually reach my goal which is 187 lbs total. I only count calories when it's something I haven't had yet on my diet. But after that initial plate, I don't have to count again. And a trick I learned about abundance is to put a healthy salad in on top of whatever it seems that is too small of a meal wise even if it's more vegetable based. Like yesterday I had pasta with red sauce cooked with ground turkey. It was my first pasta since I started my diet in Jan. I knew I wasn't going to be able to have a lot like I use to eat, so I put a spinach salad in with it and it was the perfect portion. I have given up all red meats. But I still eat turkey, chicken and tuna. I do not like fish and tuna from a can is the best I can do. Unfortunately I do not know how to cook tofu in any way shape or form that I would call delicious. But I do love veggies and could see myself totally off meat one day. I got off the red meat and most dairy because of health issues. I too do not like milk so that was easy. I will say that I have been using more processed food substitutes because I don't know how to "swap" yet. Example, I love BOCO burgers and the BOCO vegan spicy Chicken patties. They are tofu I believe or some kind of veggie but of course processed. But to make a burger that is vegetable from scratch...not sure I could do that. I have had tofu cooked in a frying pan before and I hated it. To me it was like eating straight lard or unflavored bubble gum. Eww. Gross!!! So if you have recipes, I would love to try them. Forgive me for spelling it wrong but you mentioned "Corjacks" I have no idea what that is, please explain. And your right Arugula is awesome! I could eat that everyday. I have no cartilage in my knees and have been in a wheel chair for the past 3 years. I need two artificial knees and back surgery but doctors wont do surgery until I lose the weight. So I am really looking forward to my future. And I have already gone down in show size, bra size and other clothing. You really do inspire me, honestly. I have heard you say that you didn't set out to have before and after pictures, but you do have them and I love seeing them. That really helps me. I have a before picture at Christmas dinner last year. I can't wait to compare that to my future after picture. Have a wonderful and blessed day.
🍃 Thank you Carla! ❤️🍃
I’m with you! I despise milk, too. 😎Not many people understand that when I tell them, so thanks! ❤
I just stopped by to say I always love your makeup ☺️
Awe thank you Tina xx
🌿🌱 love it Carla. Or Barla as I’m calling you as you’re my Brian 😀I changed to plant based during the spring and my cholesterol is now completely normal and my diabetes is in remission. Oh and the weight is falling off me thanks to plant based and bodyslims.
Thank you so much. On behalf of myself and the animals ❤
🍃 Love your videos!!!
Thank you!! 🖤🖤🖤
I love your rambling chatty videos! 🍀🍁Fall here in the US❤
So glad you like them, they're my speciality 😂
I’m going to try courgettes with nutritional yeast! Thanks, great video 🖤 🌱
You won't be upset Debbie. Grab one of those garlic chilli mills or something similar from any supermarket and add to the courgettes and it's a gamechanger. x
Carla loved this! I've been on and off plantbased for years...but I am soooo ready to Go Vegan, wfpb for good! So, Thank you for always being so generous with your advice and being so genuine! Greetings from Connecticut, USA. And, P.S. It's pronounced LAW-REES. 😅😅😅
This is definitely worthy content youtube :)
Great video as usual Carla 🥒🌶🌱🌿
I always say "less calories doesnt necessary equal less food"
I'm in my third month of eating mostly whole food, plant-based. I do have honey every once in a while, but not often. I started in August as an experiment to see how it would affect my blood work I get every month or so, due to a lot of health issues. If there was a drastic enough change, then I would stick with it. Well, two weeks after starting, I was able to go off my inflamation medicine and I could tell my energy level was somewhat better. My bloodwork at the end of my first month showed significant improvement and I lost about 10 pounds, so I decided to continue. My blood work has continued to improve and I've lost about 35 pounds so far and I've gotten off another medication. I have a lot of weight left to lose )over 100) and I'm still on several medications that I really wnat to stop, but I can definitely say that I feel better than I have in years. Probably most of my adult life. I really love your channel Carla and thank you for your inspiration! 🥬🖤
That is amazing, so chuffed for you xx
🍂 Thanks for sharing about this, Carla! I had wondered about your plant-based diet and if you had done that, specifically to lose weight. I know that some people have leaned towards it, because of that. I do eat animal products, but I would say that about 75-80% of my diet is plant-based. Like you, I also prefer to have a good volume of food and don't really feel satisfied, if I don't. You're right that filling up on nutrient -dense plants is one way to cut the calories, as long as they're not laden other sources of calories, like dressings. Speaking of which, I notice that you eat a lot of salads. Do you use salad dressing on them? I have been tracking my calories and overall nutrition, for the past few years, and I've noticed that my salads tend to be more calorie heavy than other types of meals, that I prepare. I do like nuts, avocados, olive oil, cheese, etc., but even when I'm not going all out on those things, my salads are usually 700+ calories. Any tricks for how to do salads without ramping up the calories? Thanks! I would LOVE it if you'd consider doing a video just on different types of salads. - Claire
This is kind of the concept of calorie density, isn't it? I've been doing this recently as well. Your videos are very inspiring and motivating btw!☺🥰🌱
Exactly!! thank you so much Anna xx
🥗 Makes sense to me! 🍃 I have been on and off pbwf for five years, but now I have more motivation ❤️
I had a zucchini today with nooch. Delicious. Will have to try Lowreys ( lowrees ) is how I pronounce it. I'm thinking about how I will do my plant based with BS next week. I almost hurled when they sent that Mediterranean recipe booklet with sardines. Never was a fish person.
For those of us who avoid Instagram, could you throw a little veggie cooking secret (like the courgettes) into your RUclips videos once in a while? Yes, the world is full of vegan cookbooks, but your approach seems different, I think because you try to balance low calorie/high volume with unique flavor. I don't mean a whole cooking show, because you've got more important things to talk about. Just quick ways you've found to season simple salads and stir-frys. Thank you!
Sure Barbara! I’m going to be doing a few Vlogmas type vlogs so I’ll so so cooking with me tips in there xx
Tak!
Thank you so much Ellen, you are so generous and so kind xxx
Thank u Carla 🍃 its like when I have chocolate @ home ..I eat the bar ..then I want more I've got the taste for it.. 😊
I'd suggest not buying the chocolate until you feel you can only have the bit x
You look great!
Thank you!
🍃 great channel
Cheers Jenny x
🖤💛🖤 past 2 weeks have been a bit erratic food wise. I need to learn how to do that without the BS crutch. I HAVE however kept my walk and water habits. Not always feeling it but my body and soul seem to crave it
Although I'm not vegetarian, I wholeheartedly agree that filling your plate with tons of veggies is the way to go! I have a huge salad every day made of some chicken and TONS of veggies - zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, tomatoes... Add in some chick peas and an avocado dressing and it's delicious!
Question for your next video series - I know you did a lot of journaling. Did you journal about your feelings every day? Or how you felt about your walk that day? Or what goals you were aiming for next? Or was it assignments, for lack of a better word, from your therapist? How did you use the journal on a daily basis?
Thanks for all the great content! ❤️
Thank you so much, and your salad sounds delicious. I'm going to be doing an entire video on my journalling practise in the next month xx
Hi Carla. Love your videos. I prefer eating plant based but cannot include anything soy based due to thyroid. Any suggestions or websites or other influencers to become more aware of non-soy food recipes and how to calculate protein grams?
I'm sorry Merrill I'm not too sure., I think there is a hashtag on Instagram for it where you might find someone who is in a similar position. Sorry I couldn't be of more help xx
Make It Dairy Free is a RUclips channel that does vegan recipes & product reviews. On their website linked in their RUclips videos, their recipes usually include allergen substitutions. I think their website includes calories & nutritional breakdowns, too.
How would you define 'Showing Up For Yourself '? Should we understand it as fulfilling one's dreams?
Great Question! - For me showing up for myself is creating habits and doing actions that remind myself of or reinforce my worth. So it can be something that I like doing, such as getting dressed up for me on a daily basis (makeup/clothes/hair) is a way or reinforcing my own self worth and it makes me feel amazing. But that might not be the case for someone else, it's subjective to each person. On the other side, showing up for myself might also include doing something good for myself that I don't particularly want to do, but is an act of self care such as going for a cervical screening. For me showing up for myself is championing myself, being my own cheer leader through real action. xx
@@HalfofCarla You are a true inspiration ! 🖤🖤🖤
I don't mind meat but not being able to have my weigh shakes would be a problem.

I wish I liked vegetables. Most vegetables (tomato, peppers, potatos, greens cooked, onions, cabbage, brussel sprouts, turnips, squash) I hate the taste of.
Don't give up on them Dee, I don't know where you're from but in Ireland we have a tendency to just "boil the bollox" out of them. There are so many ways to cook veg that can make them interesting. xx

🪴🪴 I have started to set up a salad lunch in advance with cabbage, carrots, peas and radishes. I make s little packet of sunflower seeds and raisins to add to it and chicken (i hope to replace that with tofu or something similar) but I LOVE it. And it makes things so much easier instead of just grabbing what ever I find because I am hungry.
🥬 I was 100% Vegan for a couple of years and I loved it I got lazy, I think. Time to get back to it again!

🪴🖤 . Choose a diet that agrees with your body. Always farm to table. Processed foods are landmines! Even though comings off shitty week where I gained weight, I'm sticking to plan that has got me halfway to goal and recommitting to my exercise routine this week and focusing more farm to table and less "fringe" foods. You know what I mean. And funny as it sounds, I love watching to the end and getting the right emohi. Like ok! I did that right, now off to align the rest of my day that way 😉💖🖤
