I bought a fifth dimension. When you buy a washer drier it never does either thing as well as a separate washer and drier. Now imagine a machine that does washer, drier, cooker, vacuum cleaner, lawn mower and disk washer, that's the 5th dimension, rubbish at everything.

I know this was 2 years ago but I just have to comment on how much I love your playing and how much these afford-a-board videos have influenced me building my own board
Your comment about the lack of a status LED on the Crybaby made me chuckle. That always drove me nuts, too. A while back, I took the buffer out of the circuit entirely, and wired it for true bypass, and added Q and gain controls while I was at it, as well as a status LED! Absolutely love that pedal now.

The light-up controls are a cool idea. Makes it better on a dark stage floor, especially on pedals that are already all black.

I liked the VolWah best. I found the 5th Dimension interesting, but think it would require a lot more experimentation to determine if it has useful tones. I liked the Blue Cloud's tone. The Shark sounded kind of noisy - maybe it would be quieter on a different guitar.
Picksalot noise could be from the daisy chain power cable or a ground issue with the home or the lighting in the room? Power supply unit or batteries could solve noisy pedal problems?

Thank you for all the content you are awesome .I absolutely love my volwah !! Had it a couple years now . As far as stacking od on the cucave I would say od before it and makes a world of difference. And if you happent to do a octave episode I'm in love with my vsn/ rowin octopus the recall feature makes it sure helpful as a live pedal . Thanks again :)

I have their boom ave bass multi effects pedal and I love it
I just bought the fuzz paddle. I've been playing for 40 years and this is the one. Harmonics in texture tight. All other pedal manufacturers could just close their door. I can get creamy tube screamer to all out fuzz. The sound definition and sustain is the best I've ever heard. Not bad for 30 bucks.

I bought the Sonicake Blue Skreamer, maybe partly based on this review. Both voices sound great, but the LOUD setting...with the tone control it goes from Dumble to kinda sorta Rangefinder Germanium Treble Boost. Damn that's useful. The Tube Screamer doesn't sound *exactly* like a Tube Screamer, but then I have to ask the tougher question: which Tube Screamer doesn't it sound exactly like?
My new favorite pedal. And it was ultra cheap, and shipped from California.
What I want for my mini pedal afford a board, is a wah/pitch pedal with fuzz in the Mooer micro-wah form factor.
As far as I understand, the TS feature on the Blue Screamer is its greatest weakness, considering that it actually needs a volume boost to sound as great as you would like, but other than that, it's a decent pedal for the price...
That distortion pedal straight away sounds better than any modelling software I've ever heard.
Around 5:10, I built a brand loyalty board out of the (discontinued) Hotone Skyline pedals. Including the Soul Press, which is their take on the Crybaby wah. But also I used the Hotone Binary series for all the modulation and delay stuff (Eko and Mod). Wish you could post pics in here sometimes.

You have to try the Sonicake Rain delay, I actually keep that on my board, its an amazing cheap delay!

They used the same font as the oldschool sonic games lol, the patch cable is a nice touch tho

@@dominicmcmahon4798 I've gotta say, pointing out that difference is pretty pedantic... Are you Ted Mosby? BUT... it did make me look it up, so I guess it worked. ;) Never realized there was a difference between font and typeface. Although technically accurate, it'll never catch on though. Most people are just going to say font in conversation. Thanks for the lesson though. :)
For those who don't want to look it up... Times New Roman or Arial are different Typefaces. Selecting one and changing to bold, italic, or otherwise is changing the font of that typeface. The more you know...
Check out some of their all in one type pedals...the black hammer, rock stage, twiggy blues...they are very good and Uber affordable
good color choices, now i won't be able to distinguish which is which either in the light or dark
The vah wah and auto wah were really good. I woulda been happy with that auto wah but I bought a Snow White clone already.
The 5th dimension has a tap tempo for the rate control, if anyone's interested.

Hey man, I gotta tell you that you sold me on the a-b-y sonic ache pedal. I ordered one from Amazzukx and it came today and I have had a blast using it in the Y mode with my Joyo Bluejay amp and my Peavy Vyper amp it blew me away both amps cranked in my little 10x12 studio...thanks
I've had a few sonicake pedals. I buy them to try types of effects (live far from music store) I generally like them
I have the VolWah and it's great but its wah not practical for me for live use. The issue is that there's a significant volume jump when the wah is activated. For that reason, it's just used as a volume pedal, but it's still great for that.
I like that wah/volume pedal … other than that I'm trying to like the sonicakes, but can't really see using any of them. Good demo though. Now we know what they sound like.
It would be interesting for you to compare the Sonicake Rockstage which is 4 Sonicake pedals (chorus, drive, delay and reverb) in a row at a very affordable price, I assume that they would be using the same innards as the individual pedals but it's so convenient as you need less power and patch cables...anyway just a suggest.
I use a flanger as my chorus or a short delay or in place of a phaser. Can be used as a flanger too.
I love chorus pedals, but they always make everything sound 90's af. Do you know of any chorus pedals that have an alternative sound that doesn't sound straight from the 90's?

quick question- what is the best place for the wah/volume in pedal order? Are the minipedals ran through the effects loop and the volwah between the guitar and amp?

Got my d250x today, which I love. Got a modular, like the uvibe the most. I have a KMize Ultimate drive too. It sounds fine, but it does this wierd thing where it boosts everything in front of it like mad! It's wierd. I had to put it at the end of my chain. Anyone else run into that?

ive had that guitar around for awhile and ive only recently been really discovering how much i like it. The pickup in it is surprisingly twangy

Not being much of a pedal aficionado, I have the twiggy blues which is one of their 4in1 pedals and like it quite a bit. Ive got a Mosky goldenhorse Klon clone on ghe way to boost the bluesdriver styled od thats in the twiggy. All in 130 canadian dollars for a klon clone, compressor,bluesscreamer,digital delay, and reverb. Was considering the dimension mod pedal but after hearing this I think I'll get a cheap chorus elsewhere and potentially a budget fuzz and call it a day. Pedal board for 200 canadian dollars.

Just looked for these all on amazon here in Canada and they were all in the $60-70 range. By far the most expensive I've seen on the afford a board so far.
Also. Really enjoy the videos. Ordered a bunch of pedals from these videos during quarantine and they have really boosted my interest in playing even more. Always wanted to mess with pedals but was kept away by the price tags.

Hey bro, loved the video - I got a sonic cake wah/vol for Christmas and I need cables. I ordered a another guitar cable for output but the as for the power cable can it be any plug? Like do the led’s switch on automatically because I try plugging it in but no leds come on??? Pls help a noob like me lol
You need a "negative center" power supply. You might have ruined your pedal though.
Look it up. You should check the + - symbols and see which one is "inside" in the diagram.

What happened there? Im trying to find the difference between the two (I know the new dials dont light up and you lose the middle switch). Do you know if the new one is equivalent to the shallow or lush mode of v1? Also is there a comparison somewhere online?

Edit: to add that I have never really tried a wah so don’t know how much I would use that specific feature and would like a simple vol

I liked the VolWah and ordered it off of your eBay link. I don't typically play with a wah, but it would be nice to have. Sounds like it'll fit the bill, hopefully it doesn't change the volume too much.
Fuzz + slow pushing the wah down is great if you hit a single note very fast

A little late here...but I definitely feel ya. We're lucky nowadays. $20 and semi professional pedals are available everywhere now. Back in the day it was boss or digitech....starting at about $100 per pedal. Boutique was way more exp. "Ted's single rain drop in the desert reverb" sells for $200 lol

Super excited to be building my first pedalboard! These afford a board videos are super educational. Does anybody have any ideas about a decent budget power supply? I worry that the cheap Amazon ones have fake reviews or something (4.5 stars seems really high). The only pedal I have is a LiveMaster with the TS-9 module, Metal Zone module, and Loop module. Thanks for any advice!!
Snark 9 volt power supply is what I use. Claims to filter noise and you can run a bunch of pedals from 1. Has 1000ma. 1 pedal uses about 100ma. About $15
I got the Mefe pedal power from Amazon but I just realized I didn't get the one pictured..but mine is good it has 6-9v 300mA, 1-12v 300mA, and 1-18v 300mA...just wish the 9v were 500mA but good isolated power for $30ish
I bought the Caline CP-01, because it has multiple milliamp for 9v, has 12v and 18v as well. $35-ish

lol, that figures why you're channel is named 60 cycle hum... However, if you have a demagnetizer, apply it to the pickup, it will clean the hum from the drives like fuzz or distortion effect, see heavy metal could too generate that static hum.

The multi mod "5th Dimension" pedal seems to be essentially the Mooer Mod Factory? If so could the soft touch switch be a control also. The mod factory has a soft switch too and controls the brake speed for example on the rotary style setting and tap tempo for the rates.
I'm like 99 percent sure it is the Mod Factory MkII since I have one and the effects are the same and even listed in the same order it looks like. Really useful pedal for the money and the Sonicake version is even a little cheaper.

Well, it just shows you what you get compared to ordinary consumers. I've bought a few of these over the last year or so and didn't receive one single patch cable. Not happy with sonicake for that, you get them for free and get cables..pish.
A company needs to work on a SHOWER TYPE REVERB. That's what we need.

When you mix a chain of effects,they are so subtly added until you reach desired results. Or use them alone. I didnt hear a bad sound from any of them. They are the same things inside huge $500 pedals. All the features on expensive pedals,you will never use anyways.
