Darren, you do know that it's the rain season, and Chang Mai is flooded..I live in Sa Kaeo, 17 years. make sure you bring a rain jacket. Best wishes ,from Sa Kaeo, Thailand .
When you arrive in the airport in Bangkok go through immigration and bag collection, you need to take the lift ( these can be busy) or the escalators ( better and faster) down to the ground floor, it’s where the airport train station is, when you get in that floor walk towards the trains ticket machines and in front of you you will see half a dozen or so exchange booths these have absolutely the best exchange rate in the airport and probably outside, you will need to show your passport and the better exchange rate is given if you have £50 notes but make sure there’s no tears or writing on them as they probably won’t take defaced ones, when you have changed up your money just take the lifts or escalations back up to level 1 ( I assume you are going to pattaya) where you can get transportation or a bus) if you have an inward flight you need to go to level four departures. It only takes a few minutes to get to the exchange booths downstairs and you will get a lot more for your money

Watcher Darren it does my old heart good to watch your almost boyish enthusiasm at the prospect of your dream holiday. Please don't annoy the cabin crew or even worse the pilot with: " are we there yet? " every 10 minutes of the 14 hour flight. Relax, sleep if you can. Count down to touch down. Then oft we go. Looking forward to seeing the beautiful countryside and the modern cities and moving through the historic sites and hopefully become part of the culture. You will luv it. I've just got back last Friday. Sainsburys always have baht. In Bkk buy a day ticket for the BTS, 150bt. IMO the best shopping malls are IconSiam & CentralWorld. A daily foot massage is a must as you end doing so much walking. When in Pattaya try Cozy Beach. Some nice cafes/restaurants overlooking it. Don't miss Walking St & Soi 6. You won't want to come back! Sounds like you've done all of the research though.

You’ll have a great time Darren. I’ve been to Thailand on three occasions now. I even took my dear Mother there on one of those occasions. The Southern Islands though, are an absolute MUST. Koh Lanta, is a favourite of ours. The ‘Beach’ at Phi Phi is amazing, but quite busy these days. Too many oiky Aussies in certain areas of Thailand. Good luck with Pattaya. Not my cup of tea. 👍🏼

You need to try Pad Kaprao when you're over there mate. It's Mark Weins favourite dish. He sells it in his restaurant over there. I've made a version of it and it's the dogs 👌🏻

First mistake, don’t buy ANY Thai currency in the U.K., when you land in Bangkok the currency exchanges are open 24/7, just change up £100 to cover your initial expenses such as your taxi. Your British notes must be perfect, no tears, no writing.
Yes, good point, tried to get notes changed a few years ago with ink marks on them and a few exchange booths refused to change them. Got them changed eventually though.

Hello Darren. I can recommend the "Students night time street food tour" which was in Bangkok and features being ferried around the town on the back of mopeds and motorcycles.
The youngsters know the hidden gems of the city and it is a scream if doing it with a group of friends..

Not sure if you are coming to Thailand this week but some of Chiang Mai is under a lot of water at the moment and the weather forcast is not godd for that area. Just to let you no so you can keep an eye out for your trip there

I go Thailand twice a year in fact back out there in 10 days sorry but I just don’t trust that Mark Wiens palate he says everything is good if you’re in Bangkok try a Chinese restaurant called Chef Man for a dim sum lunch totally knock out enjoy it’s a great country trust me ❤
We had our honeymoon to Krabi and then did so much travelling around on the longtail boats seeing whole area

Hope you enjoy your time in |Thailand ,i can recommend good taxi to take you to Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok ...Nams Taxi Pattaya ,or bobbys taxi ...if you need to change money in Bangkok use Super rich money exchange ,and Pattaya if you need to change money use tt money exchange ,if you take crispy £50 Notes you get a little bit more of a higher rate not much but it helps ,make sure your bank notes does not have any marks or tares on it ....looking forward to watching your videos in Thailand...keep up the great work mate
