On any flight we go on we always do two things:- 1. Take a jumper in hand luggage as every plane is always cold. 2. Take a picnic as the food is overpriced and not at the standard as that made by your own fair hands. Result, happy flight 😊
Booked on my first Norse flight next month. Gatwick to Miami £300 RTN!. (No food, No extra baggage etc) The day after I booked the price went down to £250!! For these prices I'd sit in the baggage hold.
Hi Lee we always fly economy, been to Canada, south africa never had a problem, some people can only dream of flying premium or first class even though we work our butt's off for what we can get and go to. Thank you to all airlines for making it possible for us all to fly to destinations
I flew to the U.S.A. for the first time in 1994, it cost me £352 with American Airlines with a 3 week car hire included in the fly drive price, it's about £870 in todays money. Food and drink (all alcohol on the menu too) was included in the price. I had plenty of leg room ( I'm also 6'4") and it was a pleasant experience. Now they want to squeeze every last penny out of you just to replicate what was basic economy on a transatlantic flight 30 years ago.
Having flown Norse i think youve got to understand how to use them. Their economy is for people who don't care what shape they're in when they get to the other end as long as they've saved a few quid.. Anyone else should pay the few £hundred extra it typically costs to go premium, which is a perfectly acceptable product for the price (usually at least 30% less than premium on a legacy)!
I quite enjoyed flying with Norse, i found them friendly, organised, efficient, attentive on board, i found the seats relatively OK for a flight that price. The film and series selection was pretty good too!
I mentioned in your first video that I have been a happy previous Norse flier. £250 return to Orlando without hold baggage for a 7 day trip (somehow we managed with a rucksack full of essential clothing) encouraged me to make my first trip to the US in 14 years. I view Norse as a successor to Norwegian Air that used to provide cheap transatlantic travel. Norse seemed a step-up from other budget airlines I have flown with. The main meals were more than fine on the flight, around £20 if bought as an add-on and the service was good. But I had lower set expectations, enabling me to be pleasantly surprised at how good the whole experience was.
I think they’re great. Good choice of inflight entertainment and nice fresh cabin. I’ve flown them from Oslo to New York for £146 return last September. New York to London for £98 one-way (booked on the day of the flight). I’m doing London to LA next week for £225 return. Oslo to Bangkok for £190 return and London to Las Vegas for £218 return. I get them cheaper by booking through online travel agencies though
Check your receipt Lee Norse quote £23 for a main meal and £16 for the light meal (breakfast) If you were charged £72 there’s a mistake… I usually just take 1 or 2 sandwiches on flights if I’m in economy
At least you didn't get any screaming babies and ferals. A lot of first bit driving could have been in parts of Australia, apart from driving on the wrong side of the road
What actually happened was he seen they charged $6.50 for blankets and the thought "Oh, I'll say I expected a blanket for free on board so didn't bring my jumper".
72 quid for 2 airline meals that look like they came out of a supermarket' bargain bin. Someone is making bank from that! Time for you to try JETBLUE MINT studio!
What is the point of this if you never have someone sitting next to you? That is the true measure of how well economy really is to tolerate! When you are crammed three abreast like sardines in a tin is when you wish you upgraded. You just don't receive the pleasure of your arms pinned to your side and no way to shift your butt in a too tight seat for seven hours! No wonder people end up with pulmonary embolisms. If the whole point of this trip was to show us the difference between premium economy and regular economy, why wasn't there any footage of how much space there was on that economy seat. No panning on the seat before sitting down, no view of leg room, nothing. A picture is worth a thousand words. I think you had too much Jamison with your buddy and left your brain on autopilot for the return flight.
I thought moving walkways in airports were "walk" on one side and "stand" on the other side. At least this is what I've encountered in North America. I thought this system would be global. I guess not. As someone with visual and mobility issues, standing on the moving walkway is a nice respite from limping my way through an airport... Also,..the flight didn't seem that "agonizing" did it?....😊
Hi Lee. You know all those lanyards we accumulate at trade-shows/conventions? Well I put a colourful one on my black luggage, so you know which black bag on the carousel is mine.
Hi Lee Forget the moaners. You never object to paying a little extra for things for comfort and you have standards not always looking for cheap options. The disappointment and frustration is you don't get the service and quality you expect. That's not snobby it's decency.
That’s crazy expensive what you paid. If you want loads of add-ons like meals, luggage and seat selection then you’re better off flying a full service airline where those are usually included. With Norse you can often find flights from New York to London for around £70 one-way. The base fares can be really cheap. But at least you’re helping the airline to stay in business.
@@AviationAdam my flight back to London from NYC was £85, £299 both ways without anything included (I did end up paying for a carry on, which was £90 but still half the price of what this guy paid) I haven't flown yet, but I'm used to budget airlines and I've sat on a coach from Newcastle to Birmingham for the same amount of time as the flight, so I'd say it's worth it at that price. Will just eat/buy food for the flight at the airport.
@@georgiamcenoy9431 I get unlimited global airport lounge access with my credit card for £15 a month so I just eat and drink loads before the flight and I’m happy not to receive anything during the flight. I think they give out free cups of water if you ask for them. Main downside to Norse is you only get a small personal item included and it is very small, they’ll make you fit your bag into the measuring box during check-in. I had to really squeeze mine in. Also I always ask for a (free) window seat when checking in, most people give it to me and just say “usually you have to pay”, but there are a few who refuse to do it. I think the ones in the UK are the least likely to give you one. The check-in agents in America and Oslo are nicer from my experience. I always fly economy, don’t have an issue with it whatsoever and I’m 6’2”. I’m not going to be paying several times the price just to have a slightly nicer seat and better food. I just want to travel as cheaply as possible.
It always amuses me that people think food on aeroplanes is somehow important. If you travel (and only pay for) super budget economy as you did with this flight, buy what you need to eat and drink at the airport before you fly, which on a short flight of 7 hours is not much, especially as you're not burning any calories sitting on your backside, take a book in your hand baggage along with a pullover, blow up pillow for your neck, eye shades and ear plugs and stop whining. The only thing that really matters is a safe landing at your destination. And maybe the amount of legroom you have (I'm 6ft 4 so this can sometimes be a problem). You saved £235 flying economy which would get you dinner, bed and breakfast in a really decent hotel. As for your "agonising trauma", you've clearly never flown on an aircraft that's been caught in a tropical storm, severe clear air turbulence or wind shear when attempting to land.

Great vid. Although the price was a bit much for the 'service' and extras that they have the nerve the charge. Think we paid 420 for a return flight to New York back in April with Aer Lingus. Meals included and seats etc.
Not sure about Norse, but BA is significantly more expensive to upgrade on the return flight than going out. Probably because they’re night flights and people want to sleep. Personally, I’ve never paid to upgrade or paid for premium. I’d rather slum it in economy for 7-8hrs in the knowledge my savings will pay for several decent meals out and a few beers to forget about the experience 🤣

As you said Norse is a budget airline so as the old saying goes "you get what you pay for" and the majority of airlines charge you for booking a specific seat
The only way to travel the Atlantic if you have the time is by cruise ship. I spent 6 days of absolute luxury a few years ago on board the 93,000 ton Norwegian Dawn on its maiden voyage Southhampton to New York. The food was fabulous at any of the half dozen restaraunts on board. Cost in those days was about £600
Good Evening Lee. Thank you for Inviting me along on your Flight home back to England and Sanity again. Personally, from what i have seen and been watching very carefully. No, I would never Fly with Norse Atlantic. You seem to be Paying for Extra's on top of your Flight Ticket. Premium was not bad, Your Food was nice. On the way back in Economy, You were Treated like Cattle and served what i would Describe as Food not fit even for Animals. To even Not provide a Blanket on your Flight is Absolutely Disgusting!!!!!. In 1993 paid around £360 return with British Airways Jumbo to Boston. I couldn't fault anything. Proper knives and forks, ceramic cups. They gave us orange juice before even the engines were started and collected empties. Plus on return was chatted up by cute little blonde stewardess, turned out lived near each other, ships in the night....
I only take Norse from NYC when I go to London. It is wayyyy cheaper than any other airline and the premium seats are nice and comfy with 3/4th recline. You're not going to like the economy with 3 seats per row and very cramped seats. I am only 5'10 and found it to be tight compared to other US airlines which I fly every other week. Premium is perfect and great value in my opinion. It is similar to US domestic business class. They used to have an amazing salmon dish but discontinued it a few years ago.
Lee after all of your traveling around the Globe you should realize that at 6ft 4inch in economy legroom will be an issue on any airline. Yes, I agree Premium is an expensive upgrade but sometimes needs must. £8 for a can of drink!!!! I nearly fell off my seat!!! Thats outrageous! TBH the food looked like something wiped from the sole of my feet.... Id be fuming. deffo worth going with a bigger carrier in my opinion
Its only the same as Ryanair or Easyjet you get what you pay for. Compare the price to Virgin Or BA and I am sure you will pay a lot more. It gets you to New York in 6 hours and just bring a sandwich with you and buy a glass of wine no big deal.
The outward flight was better for room, but they're really cramming them in in economy aren't they. I'm not as tall as you by a long way, and I'd hate the space available, no-one should be touching the person in the adjoining seats, it's awful. I haven't flown in years and don't intend to again, but I fondly remember when the food was much better and free on scheduled flights as were the drinks, I always loved a gin and tonic or two on flights. And you didn't have to pay extra for window seats. Things have certainly gone very much downhill. I didn't reckon much to the food either way, but economy is truly cattle class on this, if not all airlines now.
You mentioned about airlines cutting costs and wanting to do things as cheaply as possible. Before I retired I worked for a major aerospace manufacturer. There was talk of flying passenger aircraft by remote control so presumably a ground based pilot in the UK to fly you out to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and then the flight is taken over by a ground based US pilot and minimal cabin crew to oversee the passengers. I don't recall any mention of how aircraft emergencies, ie:- engine failure etc would be dealt with. It would probably also be a terrorist hacking godsend!!! 😮😮
Lee, I've flown Dreamliners a lot, and there should be a MAP on the infotainment system. It would be very unusual for there not to be a map. Are you sure you checked all the options on the screen?
I can confirm having flown them several times that there is no map. There’s a page giving information on flight progress, altitude and speed etc but no map of any kind.
Thank you for the video. The seats looked like every full service airline in economy. How did this flight compare to the American Airlines flight you took back in June to Heathrow?
I get on a travelator because I don't want to walk. Of course stand to the side to allow someone who wants to walk by, but if you want to walk, then don't walk on the travelator.

We traveled on a Dreamliner and seemed to have more room than you Lee 👍Interesting food prices 😡Good Video 👍👍
LEE! Greggs! Where's my Sausage Roll!😝
Greggs wouldn't be my first port of call upon landing
Excellent videos love watching you and Martin. How sad am I watching your videos whilst on holiday in Dominican Republic 😂
It always surprises me how big the bags are that people take on the plane and how many
Blimey, Lee. The things you'll do for content 😱👍
Lee, I've flown Dreamliners a lot, and there should be a MAP on the infotainment system. It would be very unusual for there not to be a map. Are you sure you checked all the options on the screen?
Yeah. Checked everything.
I can confirm having flown them several times that there is no map. There’s a page giving information on flight progress, altitude and speed etc but no map of any kind.
Here is a shout-out to the Silver Fox for being a good sport to host you for a day or so.
6 hour flight, think I can deal with the the pain. 10 hour flight, yep got to upgrade from economy.
must have have got gorden Ramsey to do the catering
At least those 2 dreadful ladies from your flight back from Vegas weren't on that flight
I've had considerably better food in economy on Cathay Pacific back in 1979!
Thank you for the video.
The seats looked like every full service airline in
economy. How did this flight compare to the American Airlines flight
you took back in June
to Heathrow?
What a beautiful take off 😍
I get on a travelator because I don't want to walk. Of course stand to the side to allow someone who wants to walk by, but if you want to walk, then don't walk on the travelator.
Interesting video Lee on a 8 hour flight on air transat you get a free meal the Mrs didn’t like it so I had both and it was ok but she won’t eat pasta or rice and looking forward to the farmers dog video 🤣👍👍
The flight price is reasonable but the food?!!!! How much?!?!?! You could have had a couple of decent meals in the airport for that.
What's the fuss? Years ago Heathrow airport was charging 2p to pee.
Haha
Lee I absolutely love your vlogs. But some constructive criticism please stop with the music it’s driving me mad. Your vlogs are much more enjoyable without it. 😊
Some great shots of the planes queuing to take off,
You drank your own weight in Bailys on the way there but not coming back 😂
Dennis Weaver, he also played Chester in Gunsmoke, a fine actor.
Weaver was in a young directors first movie Duel .
Nice one Lee, they have got a captive audience re those extortionate prices. 😅😅😅
Wow that food for 72 quid! Surely that's a robbery
Good man lee...i thought all airlines have to provide food 6 hours +...Any way great vlogg ..watchin ere from the cayman island 🍺🍺😎
That food looked absolutely dreadful. But what did you expect.
Lee off to Corfu next week Jet2 better than what seen you on today love your videos ymxxx
I definitely agree with you Lee, people who have there cap on the WRONG way around look like pratts 😮😢
