I agree with both you and mom. The driving distances takes its toll on kids. And the breaking down part actually happened to me in 1988. We were in Beaumont Texas heading home from Astroworld and WaterWorld which are not there anymore and my 2 year old vehicle breaks down. It was like it was electric and you unplugged it. No one would stop to help for a while then finally a guy from my home state stopped. He took us to the dealership and they had a tow truck go get it. They were quick to get us back on the road. It ended up being a $10.00 part but labor and the towing brought it up to $300.00. Praying ya'll have an awesome safe 3 week trip.
Avalanche Creek in Glacier National Park is beautiful! However, there are not fences or guard rails alongside of it so hold onto your kids! I sympathize with whoever is not driving but instead is keeping the kids entertained. I guess you’ve already made a stop to the Dollar Tree to dole out a new toy every once in a while, good luck! I’m really looking forward to traveling along with you, thanks for sharing your adventure!
If you’re on the road for several weeks, be sure to plan for medications, etc. Hard copy road atlas for when there is no cell service. If you have iPhone 14 or newer, you’ll have satellite service for emergencies. Bring a spare battery pack to keep all the electronic devices running on the road.

Sounds super stressful. Especially if it's super hot in the middle of Texas!
Going to the sun road has some amazing views.
So excited to see!
