Day 10: Experiencing San Francisco for the 1st Time
San Francisco is quite the unique place. Driverless taxis from Waymo. Lots of interesting smells. Sports arenas. And walking. Lots of walking. Even with most of the family not feeling well on this day, but we made the most of it and had a lot of fun!

Day 9: Our First Accident | The Majestic Redwoods | San Francisco

We had our first real problem on the road trip with the Yakima top busted and flew off our van. We broke it down and continued along our journey to the Redwoods of California, which were amazing. We have several sick people who are fighting their way along this 13.5 hour drive day. This day ends with us in San Francisco taking in the Golden Gate Bridge and some rest. Day 4 Recap - Coeur d'Alene is REMARKABLE... Except The Barre Class 😬
Просмотров 170Месяц назад
We had to leave our spirit state of Montana and Glacier National Park. The good news is the views of Flathead Lake just outside Glacier are gorgeous. Driving from Montana, we ended up spending some time in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and this is another place we just didn't want to leave. It is also a word I misspell every single time I type it out. Caitlin and Linda took a Barre class that left them ...

We're Going On The Most Epic Road Trip... Ever
Your family is so lovely and chill you can turn any drama into something fun and special ❤ love it😊
Haha, we have our moments, but all in all, we try to make the best of what comes at us.
nope. did you think this was a fun time for your kids? There are many actual hikes.
They really wanted to see the stadiums. The walking was long, but once they got to Fisherman's Wharf, they liked all the shops and sea lions (the real ones, not just the painted ones). They were kind of anti-hike at that moment because we had been hiking through the redwoods, Oregon, Mt. Rainier, and Glacier. Lots of mosquito bites they were trying to recover from, haha. Definitely want to go back though and experience more of the different parts of the Bay Area.
That's funny! Tired from walking? Let's walk some more! Getting sick? Let's walk some more! Feeling hungry? Let's walk some more! For the record, locals walk, tourists stroll. Driver-less taxis sounds neat! Probably a better driver than 25% of the people there. Maybe 75%......
I definitely want one of those cars!
Blockbuster?! Crikey that’s a blast from 5he past. And the swimming pool 💩😂
It looks and smells just how you remember it 🙂
Incredible beauty! Thanks for the video - excellent choice of music too. 😊
Thank you for tuning in 😊
awww. you guys are SO cuuuuuute 🩵(beautiful footage💚🌿!!)
Thank you so much! 😊
Yikes! Just thinking about being sick and having to drive all day in a van full of family is terrible. But you guys pulled through in style. Good on you, mates for not leaving the top of the Yakima on the side of the road as so many other people would have. The redwoods are magnificent and always wonderful to see again. And again. The GG-Bridge is a fascinating study in history. How it came to be, who actually designed it, who got the credit for designing it, how the builder overcame powerful opposition, and all the new tools and techniques they had to design to even begin the build. All back then when nothing like it had ever been built.
It was all so neat! We definitely want to go back to see and learn more. Caitlin needs to get back when she's not on drugs haha!
Great family road trip! Although the pool accident is rather, uh, gross.
It is gross. Crazy how often it happens. Little kids... or adults... still not sure who the culprit was.
Sadly downtown Portland is a shell of what it once was before the pandemic. Used to be very vibrant and the place to go before the opioid epidemic and crime took over. But Portland has many great walkable neighborhoods, green spaces and fun things to do with kids. Hopefully you can come back when you have more time to explore outside the city center.
Would love to come back!
First time I noticed Jared's freckles. All your kids are so well behaved.
They have their moments, but for the most part, they are super great 🙂 and Jared's freckles are the best! Haha
Fantastic update. I would like to go to some of the national parks next summer too.
America really is beautiful!
Cute in every way way! 😄
They are adorable 😍
Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Definitely on my bucket list.
Highly recommend it!!
Such a fantastic trip. Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventures with us.
So excited to get the rest of the videos out 🙂
Glacier national park is so beautiful and grand. We loved all of the places but Many Glacier and the hiking trails are THE BEST, especially watching sunset on the lake near the lodge. We had a close encounter with a young grizzly bear. It was just across the hiking trail from us. Luckily we were with a large group of people. That was surreal!!
Wow! That's amazing! We were all wanting to see a bear, but also a bit nervous to see one
A buddy and I did that trail a few years back, but in September, so few others were on the trail with us. We did get to encounter a black bear that really did not want to see us. I got in trouble with my buddy since my first reaction was to grab my camera, getting it ready for a picture as opposed to the bear spray. I assured my buddy that I would have taken pictures of a mauling.
😂
Haha! That's wild! We had pur eyes peeled for bears the whole time and never got to see one.
Some people have no honor, sad but true. Beautiful area!
Luckily it all got sorted out 😀 Guess which state I'm trying to get to before the end of the year... 😉
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching! 😀
WOW!!!!!
😊
When I visited Glacier National Park in 2014 my reaction to the trail along Avalanche Creek up to Avalanche Lake was the same as yours, it was so unbelivable it didn't even seem real. It was my favorite hike there too! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Pretty rivers, trees, Waterfalls, and lakes are our happy place 😀
Perfect weather for family fun!
It was such a perfect day!
It's a chipmunk. Love the commentary about jumping off the rock ledge. The park is beautiful! Thanks for taking me along for the walk.
Thank you for clarifying on the Chipmunk! Squirrels have fluffier tails, right? Thank you for coming along!
I've seen cute "least chipmunks" both times that I've been to this park. Is it still possible to hike up to see a glacier? It's a terrific experience.
What a beautiful place! Love the lodge. It reminds me of Disney World's Wilderness Lodge….which I guess should probably be the other way around.
@douglasmiller1036 Still possible! A little bit too long of a hike for our little ones, so next time we go there, maybe my wife and I will give it a go
@LindaLearn it's all so amazing. Didn't want to leave!
Great adventure for your family to remember forever....I still haven't been to all the states at 54. 😄
You totally should do it! Just takes 40 days haha
@@SodasOnTheRoad Yesss, in 3 years when I retire!!! Probably at a slower pace. 😊
Highly recommend a slower pace!
Excellent video! Excellent editing, music, content, and scenery. 99% of us should learn from your example of how to make a video. Short and sweet leaving us wanting more. I think I've figured out how you create videos, spend time with your family, run a business, read books, write and answer email... You must never sleep!
The scenery and the family make it pretty easy 😊
My sobrino and Sobrinas. Miss you kids...........good times :)
Almost home!
ok, this is col
It was amazing! I want one
are the shoes from Colombia? of course they're the best shoes haha :)
Haha! Totally!
Hi Noel. Great job with the rating system.

Washington State - If I were to recommend just one destination, I guess it would be Mount Rainier National Park, though it is SUPER popular and busy during the summer months (I think they now do reservations for entry.). For fewer people, there's the North Cascades and Mount Baker near the Canadian border. Of course, the coast along the Olympic National Park is amazing as well. I greatly prefer the wilds on the western part of the state to the city, so a visit to just the Seattle landmarks seems like a very limited peek at the state. I'll leave to other Washingtonians to sell you on the eastern, much drier side of the state.
We got to see Rainier 😀 This channel is a little behind, but more videos are coming!
@@SodasOnTheRoad I'm late to the party! I hope that "The Mountain" cooperated (On a nice day, we say that "The Mountain is out, which makes it sound like it plays peekaboo with us.). Safe travels!
Almost ready to post our Washington experiences! The Mountain was stunning 😍
Never seen that before! WOW
Pretty crazy!
And so it begins……
Yep... we are in the thick of it now 😬
Have a fabulous trip!!
Thank you!!
You are set! That's a lot of clothes, but it packs pretty small and is much more convenient than suitcases. Good preparation helps avoid problems on the way/ But the problems, and how we handle them are what we remember. Traveling with children is something I have no experience with so I look forward to watching your trip.
Hope so!!
That's a great start of your 40 day journey! Love the scenery by the river...
Thank you! So pretty there!
Cinnamon ice cream rules!
It's my vice! Love me some cinnamon ice cream :)
I still remember camping trips in the 50s that my folks took us on, bare bones but so much fun! Nice way to build memories with your family!
It's been so fun so far!
A great first day success! Ice cream is an excellent way to end the day. Or to start it.. Or both. Carry on.
Haha! Ice cream makes everything better
I think this trip is an absolutely wonderful idea. You guys are gonna have so much fun over the next few weeks. This is something your kids are gonna remember for the rest of their lives.
It's already been such a blast! Loving it!
Wow, the trip from bend to sf is gonna be tough! Might want a backup spot to stay in Ukiah or Santa Rosa. Once you go past Ukiah, it’s pretty scenery but no towns to take a break in until Santa Rosa. If you’re tired by Ukiah, just be safe and stay there IMO. Hope the trip is awesome!!
It is ambitious... luckily we have 4 drivers. So excited for Northern Cali!
You’re great and I wish you so much fun. Oh, do NOT feed the bears. (I know you know this but still…) have great fun!
Thank you so much! Got done with Glacier. No bears were seen, it lots of other fun animals!
Excellent plan to exercise daily. Especially during the drive to tire out the kids.
Need to do something to tucker them out haha!
Iowa here - has to be Field of Dreams in Dyersville.
Going to put that on the list! Thank you!!
Keep it up!
We will try! :)
Awesome kids! You have a beautiful family. Good luck with the first leg of your trip!
I'm a lucky guy! Thank you so much!!
You have a beautiful family. I can see how they light up your life.
Love them so much!!
Love your channel and videos. Great to see your wonderful family.
Thank you so much! Appreciate you!
I’m from Vegas! Born and raised in Henderson. Yes, Vegas isn’t the most family friendly, but downtown Henderson isn’t too bad (lots of nice restaurants and a snowcone place). There is also Red Rock (west vegas valley) and even Boulder City if time allows. It’s a dream of mine to do this road trip! super excited to watch it!
Nice! I think the heat as much as anything will keep us moving through there haha!
Good job you both!
Thank you so much 👧🏼😊
