I just want to remind everyone: Smear frames are literally so important, I watched 80s cartoons growing up (dvd and vhs, no I'm not old, just poor) and rewatching a specific episode of Transformers, Megatron had a weird flail spinning like a helicopter, but it only had about three repeating positions and no smear frames and it's so ridiculous looking. No criticism to the animators, they were on a time and budget crunch, but smear frames are so incredibly important to professional animation now.
I'm a 90's kid and grew up on VHS and saw the beginning of DVD. 27 isn't old, so you don't have to justify growing up on that. Also, I am a mom and have a projector TV and a VCR because it's the only thing I trust my 4 year olds to manage themselves. Even then, they have destroyed 3 VHS's. But my kids are growing up on everything I grew up on! 😄
Karina's character should have been "Smudge Bunny"

I want it as a sticker, but multiple styles and sizes of stickers. A nice bumper sticker, a medium one for my laptop or something else totally cliche, and a sheet of small ones for random usage in my daily life. And maybe some dog shirts, but big enough to fit on large dogs. Because I know my big boy says that about his older sister all the time. But she's always been queen of the castle and he could care less.
I feel like pausing an animated character, especially old ones, is the quickest way to get the most meme-worthy images possible. And thinking about this episode as a glorified meme-remake is the most amusing thing to me.
I have occasionally made the mistake of pausing My Little Pony while Pinky Pie was on screen...

@@JKtheAdevnturer I think the deal is that DC has spent so long trying to convince people that Superman doesn't wear trunks (across both New 52 and Rebirth and the shows/movies) that they probably just assumed the trunks were a red belt (something that version of the character wore instead). I don't know how someone could forget how the character looked pre-2011, as Superman has one of the most iconic costumes in superhero history (originating tights, capes, and boots as a superhero fixture), but I think that's where the confusion came from.
His belt happens to be the exact color of his skin?? That makes no sense.

Exactly. All they had to do was pull up a regular picture of Superman from the animated series. Jacob knew he was right so he just got silent the second time Julia said it wasn't his belt. He knew he was right but also knew he wasn't going to convince Julia.

If you ever want to do something like this again, there's a blog called Scooby-Doo Mistakes that collects animation errors, weird smear frames, and similar stuff from Scooby Doo (and occasionally other shows). There'd be plenty of fun nonsense to pick from there!

@@3llevate That's a good point. I do wonder if a culture that doesn't have the same experience with animation as we do would perceive the same thing.
That said, this kind of smear also happens in photos that are taken with old cameras with longer exposure times, and that's the actual origin of this in animation. Basically if the thing the camera is taking a picture of is faster than the speed of the photo, this kind of weird distortion can actually happen.
@@pedroabreu005 Sure, but it's still media tho, there's no way our brain can ever see a static smear like that in real time. Anyway, only way to find out would be talking to these people (or maybe someone has? I wonder if optical illusions were ever a subject of research with isolated tribes)
