Following the GOLD on my Dream Claim! FOUND IT!

- Back to my dream claim and this time I found the gold! After my last two days on this claim where I came up VERY short, I was starting to worry. But after talking with a bunch of the locals and doing some more digging, I am now on the right track and the gold got better and better as that day went on. I now have a good idea where we are going to find our first big nugget.

Thanks for taking me out to the woods Dan, The sound of the river is awesome and relaxing. I work at a power plant and am considered an Essential employee keeping the lights on and haven't been able to get out much due to the Covid-19 stay at home thing so its just travel to and from work for me right now.
Awesome vid and so great seeing the family enjoying the outdoors together!
Glad you enjoyed it
Your first shot of the rapids brings me back to my time in the mountains. That shot right there always makes me feel that feeling of just standing and looking at the loudest calm you will ever feel.
"Loudest calm you will ever feel," very well said!
Beautiful country! Your boy will likely never forget these times.
Dan, I want you to know that I love your videos. From one ginger to another I went out today for my second time ever and was successful in getting my first two little pieces! So much fun. I’m in the Boise Idaho area. Keep these videos coming, thank you.
Yooo Idaho gang
Seeing how happy you are on your dream claim makes me happy too! Happy for you Dan, and as always, thanks for the videos
Thanks so much!
What an awesome way to enjoy my first cup of coffee of the day with Mr. Hurd, amazing scenery and a wonderful adventure. Have a wonderful day and stay safe ❤️ from Saskatchewan
Thanks, you too!
Nice to see the family out with you your right the river is beautiful
Yup... Just to be there along such a beautiful stream, is pure gold!
I'd love to just set up a camp for a couple days... Maybe wet a line for a trout or some other fish for a nice dinner over the campfire, a pot of boiled coffee, and some good company...
Well, it's back to the grinder for me tomorrow. But thanks for the nice daydream...
Wow, gold AND platinum....and a whole family of gingers! Fantastic!
( This is the first time I've seen your family, I'm sort of new around here, I really think it's fantastic! )
Well, thanks! And I have another ginger son who shows up time to time
@@Danhurd , omg, you-da-man!
All hail the gingers
They are good people
That little nugget makes me wonder if you might get a Detector reading on that big quartz rock you showed it the 1st part of your video?
John Brown , I was wondering same thing !
I stumbled upon your videos awhile back and the scenery alone is breathtaking. Stones and gold are just bonuses!
In Virginia city, they were throwing all the clay out, tons and tons of this clay, and not finding but traces of gold, then they found that because of liquefaction caused by volcanic and geologic events the gold had mixed in to the mud. And when they found out, they had extracted thousands of dollars worth of gold in the mud and sent it as fill. Almost missing it all
Robert Bradford , wow that’s tragic
I like seeing your family sharing the beauty.
14:57 Check back through the names of previous claim owners (if that's possible?) as it looks like a memorial-grave site.
Yes I thought exactly the same thing. I hoped someone else had noticed.
I can't believe how breath taken beautiful that place is. I get so jealous when ever I watch your video's. You have a lovely family, treasure those times with them.
Thank you so much!
Did I see a bedrock bench/shelf in the river itself with a large boulder below it and slack water between?
Need to get Pauli to snipe there. LOL
@Michael Clark 😂🤣😉👍
You are so much fun to watch! Thank you!
8:50 isnt that a small avalanche of black sand just over Dans shoulder?
I noticed the sam thing, and then saw this on the first previous comment, I hadn't even finished watching the video yet... LOL Probably an optical illusion, I saw another really high much larger area that also looked very dark like black sand later in the video. I was thinking the sand we saw could be a tailings of concentrates from previous miners....
yep good eye
I saw that too. LOL I posted a similar comment before seeing this one.
Yeah I saw that too
oh yes.
Wow, this view of the river that follows the water as it foams and bubbles away in the distance, just great. There is no need for gold, this nature gives so much more. Thanks for the wonderful nature shots 😇and also for the view of various candies💫☘️🤩
I miss my kids being that age. They loved prospecting and just being in the woods. Had them carry my saw jugs around when I was felling timber and after work we'd prospect the local streams.found a fair bit of gold, platinum and old lead bullets and a lot of fun. By the way, I love finding wire gold, I don't know why, but I've saved every piece of wire gold I've ever found. I'm up to about four ounces now.
I am 14, I wish my parents took me prospecting and in the woods, the closest we were to the woods was ohio pyle but thats more of a park
@@caiden-_- Im sorry. My advice is ask and keep asking. It's not unreasonable to ask your parents to take you camping now and then and let them know you want to go deep woods. Tell them you're interested in gold panning. There is gold in the glacial till that was pushed down out of Canada during the last ice age.
You don't have to have an expensive pan, that would be nice but I learned when I was a very small child on an old steel pan, but just a cheap black plastic pan will work good for starting out and for that matter, I still have and use a couple a them.
Once you find a place with some gold in it then you can think about upgrading. BTW, there's a lot of gold in the great lakes. Either Superior or Michigan I think. And those lakes have lots of gold the blows up on the beaches during heavy storms.
I have one last piece of mind for you. There are lots of minerals that one could. Mistake for gold, but let me tell you, when you first got gold in your pan you'll know it. Once you see it it'll be obvious. Remember that it's down in the corner of the pan with the heavys. Mica will be one of the lightest things in your pan and therefore will want to stay above the black sand layer and will learn out first. Good luck kiddo and I apologize for not getting back to you for so long. I just never look at my old comments. Im glad I went back this time. Check out some channels the pan gold from the midwest. I know that they are there. Again, good luck
Thank you for showing, no gold in a pan and the process to find it. I feel overwhelmed to get out there, the dream claim series is very very inspiring, it earned my subscription. Please keep on keeping on.
What an absolute beautiful claim good to see you and the family out having fun I ended up getting a Keene super sluice I really appreciate all the info you put out really educational thank you for sharing with us always a pleasure to watch your Channel I look forward to every video✌👊👍😎
Wonderful upload. Excellent quality footage. I may also like to add that I ,like you and your family appreciate the natural beauty of this place .and I love that you like to highlight this ,not forgetting it. Well done D.H . Stay blessed 🙌
yer giving me the fever sir, can't wait for spring!!
I feel that
Hey dan I absolutely love watching your videos during these times of quarintine I absolutely miss going out for gold with my dad in Australia
Wow that does appear to be platinum, amazing looking area, I love the Edmonton Oilers hat too :)
I didn't expect you to be here

Beautiful scenery some nice gold but fresh looking. Enjoyed your comments
Now I know why you call this your 'Dream Claim'. It is beautiful there! Wonderful test pans on your 'Dream Claim'! Are the silver looking pieces in your microscope - Platinum? or Silver? Look forward to your future videos of this claim!
what a great place to grow up for a kid, exploring, climbing the rocks...awesome
Boy oh boy Dan, that claim sure is beautiful... but you seem to be having a heck of a time finding the Gold that you find on your other claims, that you've paid much less for. I sure as heck hope that the guy who sold it to you didn't pull a fast one on you. 🙏 Good luck, God Bless, stay safe and healthy!
Very nice family day Dan! Thank you for the wonderful river views in this video. Have fun, be safe, be blessed.
Could the metallic metal be mercury coated gold? It would seem like an anomalous amount of mercury if this were true.
I was debating on whether or not it was Amalgam as well. I don't think it has enough shine or mercury color to it though?
Noble metals for a noble cause - wishing you and your endeavors many more noble rewards
Cool vid love the nature out there looks like my area in Eastern Maine. P.s u have a lovely family Dan keep them safe and hope u all r good where ever everyone is 🙏🙏 from
207 represent!
Woot woot 207! Maine for the win! I'm going gold panning up the Swift River as soon as it calms down. And as soon as my gold panning stuff comes in the mail 🤣. Can't wait to get out of stinky Rumford and start panning!
Thanks, Dan, and family, looks like you all had a good time. Best wishes.
Could the silvery metal be electrum (Silver / Gold alloy), we get it over there in the UK in places, looks very silvery, and behaves like pure gold?
Kieron Moorman , that’s interesting
Kieron. When are you going to do some more Devon vids.?
@@darrenb2786 Good question. Stuck at home currently, so no opportunity to visit for the forseeable. I do have some footage from Wales and France I've not had a chance to edit. I need to get back onto it. Thanks for the prod :)
I did feel like I went with you all, very lovely 😍 place, thank you!
I think someone needs to blast the pebble of quartz.
I'm never gonna get over how gorgeous this spot is.
Crazy idea. I wonder if you could put on a drysuit, a weight belt, and maybe a hookah line to a full face mask so you could snipe the crevices below the water line. Those probably haven’t been hit hard, if at all, and it’d probably have the best gold.
Totally could.
@@Danhurd Pauly would die for a shot at this I bet.
Beautiful scenery, nice chunk of gold!!!
8:40 wondering about the black stain on the opposite river bank - magnetite deposit, or old tailings runoff?
I seen that and wondered also ;)
Looked good for a test !
Looks like ash
It is so beautiful there, I would never want to leave!
DAN to camera "Lots of quartz on this claim, Lots of quartz."
ME to myself "Of Quartz there is"
LOL!
Ba bum bumb tchhhhhhhh
Dan it was good to see the family
It was nice to have them along!
Morning dan hope all is well has the Canadian schools been shut down for covid and how is the outbreak affecting your prospecting
Schools are closed in BC and we teaching remotely. As for prospecting, we haven't been locked down but we've been asked to stay home as much as possible and not to associate with others. Looks like things will be loosening up in the next week or so.
@@Danhurd Canadian's, much nicer and now, much smarter than us Americans.
Very much enjoyed. Thanks for the education along the way too. When the cliffside came down, it would have completely blocked the river. The buildup of water behind would have happened and those campers would have been at risk of either being caught in the backwater or at risk for flooding once it burst. THanks.
That was a memorial site for an old prospector...
Bet it was for a beloved dog!
@@kerinholmstrom250 left a pan and some buckets for some prospecting in the afterlife.
SOooo glad i found your channel, you made me discover a new passion ,thanks you so much for making these !!! and the fact that you are right here in Canada even better ! keep doing what you do ! you are awesome at it !!
Glad you like them!
When a person buys a claim , how long is the claim yours.
This usually dependant on local ( provincial legislation) but as long as you are actively working the claim it’s yours.
In BC you often pay for a claim once, and as long as you can show workings on it, it's yours. I can't recall if there's a yearly fee or not.
If you dont work it enough. There`s a yearly fee depending on size.
Mr Dan Hurd thank you very much for being here on utube during our golbal issues we face
You're welcome!
I'm curious...other than the shear beauty , why is this your dream claim? Ohhh, to be young and full of energy and filled with curiosity again! Wouldn't that be nice!?
Because of its potential
Love seeing you with your family
Yeet I was here early
Nice!
Great vid Dan...that's a looooong way down to the river on the cliffside. That mystery metal could be Molybdenum...I get it here in our rivers and creeks on East coast (maritimes). It's density is about 10.5 and it resembles platinum both in look (more brilliant shine than Platinum) and the way it behaves in your pan.
Aw! i see the sweet ,sweet loving look in your wifes eyes . The same look my lady gives me when she is saying wothout saying "WOULD YOU STOP IT !!!IM EATING!" ::Explitives deleted::
Awesome. Great prospecting to you and your family
Thanks for always having a video for me to wake up and watch on my Sunday morning.
I am a green horn and seem to always come home with mica and pretty rocks lol. Very discouraged, but I am exciteded to homemade out this spring. Your videos I found to be so informative for not so smart panner such as myself. I thank you dmfor taking the time to break down your techniques so newbies can understand.
Safe journeys and adventures.
Rose in Spokane WA.
That scenery is beautiful Dan
Super happy to see what you found today. Nice looking fresh gold!
And the mystery silver metal, whoo hoo!
Thanks!
Great adventure Dan
Cool to see your family out enjoying the day with you
This has to be one of my favorites. I love your family. And the kids getting to grow up on rivers and with mom and dad out prospecting, what could be better. That shiny silvery looking stuff, I can't wait to hear what it really is. Stay safe. Angry Old HIppie Hermit Peace.
Thank you!
hope you had a good day with your family dan and glad to see your son carrying on with tradition gold of panning great video as always x
That is one beautiful river going down that magnificent canyon ,I see a zip line in the near future.Love to work that claim looks like a good one. Thanks For the trip David out
Love the family shots! Nice to see them hanging with you
It was nice that they wanted to join me for this trip
Love watching your prospecting but some of the views you show are absolutely beautiful. I would love just to sit back relax and listen to the river.
Thanks 👍
Great to see you and your family out enjoying the outside figure you would find gold
Thanks 👍
Looks like some good grounds! Thanks for sharing your adventure mining that special element!
Thanks for watching!
What a beautiful spot!
Thanks!
beautiful country, so envious , enjoy and soak up every second!!!
The most valuable nugget was in that last frame of the video. What a great picture!
Love it - thanks for providing me with a way to enjoy my secret wish for prospecting
Platinum...yep!
last few flakes you showed looked very pretty, cody's lab has done a few videos on refining gold and removing other heavy metals ... it could be a few different heavy metals including platinum.
You've earned a subscription with that geology party in your pan... Gold, platinum, molybdenum & possibly a little silver mixed with amalgam in the nugget. Leave no quartz un-crushed. You're close to something special. It'll be fun watching you follow it.
Thanks!
I always enjoy seeing the places you go. Its refreshing.
Thanks!
7.32 evens spot was very interesting speaks to the power of nature and looks for all the wold like a sine never seen a tree head ferst in the gravel standing dead straight like that before
I love the sound of the river. When I listen to your video I wonder why those meditation tracks don't sound anything like a river. God Bless you and your precious family. I am really enjoying watching our videos.
PS I was taught years ago that you leave mother natures house in better shape than when you found it. Other peoples trash bothers me too
It was nice to see your family getting involved. Even if it’s ever so slightly. You are right that is a beautiful area. Please be safe! Use safety lines if you need them.
It was nice that they wanted to join me!
Beautiful river! High cliff! Yikes! 😖 I'm scared of heights!
Oh nice Score! lots to look at and look up! Wow what a day out. Thanks for Sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Dan I really have high hopes for you brother. And its its always good to see you with your family.
Thanks!
Your claim Land is Beautiful Dan.
Thanks!
I am not a big commeter, subscribed and notified and just kinda watch the vids. I am not into the gold thing much at all but Dan! You have that comical soothing way about you that is priceless. 20 or 30 minutes at a time is not the telling of a person, but I would love to meet you someday! I moved to Thailand for the rugged beauty of it and enjoy it alot but dammers man you got me wanting to be there, fish and enjoy the day!!!
Love the channel, love the narrative and the narrator, hope you live long and each day you prosper.

The claim jumpers did a good job of cleaning up the gold !!!
That last shot of Evan on the Boulder, there is your big gold! It has been a pleasure watching you prospect and seeing your family growing up these last several years Dan Hurd. Looking forward to seeing those nice bits of gold getting sussed out here!
Very true. It was nice that the family wanted to join me on this one.
Good to see how the squatter cleanup went ... Pick the silver bits and have it checked ...
Nice gold Dan. Can't wait for the video of you and your buddies trying that spot you mentioned. Time that claim rewarded you for all your hard work. Be safe.
Thanks!
Beautiful area, Dan...thanks for sharing...!
You bet
Ah, that's a pretty darn thorough cleaning they did there. Good job, Her Majesty's Ministry of Claim-Jumpin Squater Hobos ... or whatever they're called.
Great video 👌 and the kids having fun as well 👍 some good finds, that nugget looks awesome, and the possible platinum 😁
There must be a source close. You might need to run a rope down that trail. A slippery slope and a long drop and a sudden stop would hunt. Great video Dan I’m loving that country
Awesome video Dan, beautiful spot. Hope you find more gold and figure out exactly what the mysterious precious metal is. 🤙🇨🇦
You have a great claim, beside the gold it has, it is a wonderful environment. Owning such a wonderful piece of nature must be exhilarating
Every time I go hiking I like to imagine the trail as a miniature ore cart railway
Great video dan 👍🏻cool time see family out with you. That is an awesome looking claim. Be safe & pan on 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks 👍
8:47 in the moment you said ``there is no black sand on this spot.....`` at the same moment i wanted to say watch your back-the other side of the river!
