Two thoughts come to mind: The first is you need another person to take turns with that crusher. The second is that finding that piece of gold in the last pan makes sense as gold is heavy and sinks.
I was thinking he should hook an electric motor onto it and connect that to the truck's system and run it to do the crushing lol I definitely agree on the second, him carrying that tote down to the river may have agitated the material enough to cause the gold to make its way to the bottom.
I'M THINKING THAT the crusher might be even more effective and even beneficial if it were mounted, or had a mount for a stationary bicycle. Exercise & crush while feeding it rock all at the same time. lol 🐂🤠🐂
A bicycle setup would save the back. Legs are typically 4 times stronger than arm muscles and have longer endurance. The con would be you would not be able to backpack it into a site. It would only be able to use at the hitch. However for our wonderful Dan, would love to see a easier one for him to use.
You aren't wrong... but it would take a fair bit of shade tree engineering to rig up some sort of converter that will take the rotary motion of a bicycle axle and convert it into an up and down linear motion to actuate the crusher. You'd need to build some sort of miniature oil well pump jack i think.
Hello again Dan, I completely agree about having fun even if you’re not finding the gold. I was out panning yesterday and ran into an older guy that joined me in my walk up the creek and he recommended a spot for me to dig and it wasn’t the great spot he thought it was going to be and he started apologize to me for recommending a not so good spot but I had to stop him and tell him it’s all good, that’s just part of the fun. I was just glad to have some company and get some advice from someone with more experience than I have. Every trip is a new adventure and I love it all.
Glad to see the gold back. I have to be honest the crystal stuff is not for me. The first couple of videos were impressive but I personally lost interest but thats fine I am just happy to see you make content you enjoy.
I absolutely love your positive outlook. You are awesome and screw the internet trolls. You're doing what you love. That's why you're sharing these adventures at almost 1mill while they post negative comments.
Dan, have you ever experienced any strange, unexplainable sounds while out in the wilderness ? Or had any rocks thrown into the stream near you ( that were not thrown by "Pauly")?
You ever hear a deer growl? I was in the woods at night with no flashlight and something large moved in the brush next to me. It was very large and it growled. I roared back at it and kicked a bunch of debris in its direction. I wasn't going down without a fight. The brush exploded with sound as a large creature ran away from me crashing through the branches. For years I was terrified of whatever it was that hunted me that night. Until I saw a video of a deer growling and realized what had gotten near me that night.
What a beautiful hike! I'd love to just enjoy the view there! I'm not a prospector, but I wouldn't be able to resist just sitting on the bank of that river and absorbing that beauty if I came across that lovely spot!
Who the heck is going to slam this guy for just doing what he likes doing? Whoever those people are they can go follow their heart and get put down by people. Then see how silly they sound.
My parents were born and raised in the Appalachians; in a coal-mining town by the name of Appalachia, to be exact. My dad used to take us hiking through the trails when we went to visit; up around the mountains and down next to the Powell River, and he would find rocks in the river that he called "dinosaur eggs." He explained to us that they weren't actually dinosaur eggs and how the river water formed their circular shape and the rocks (full of minerals) came out of the mountains into the water and made these beautiful "dinosaur eggs." There's not just gold up in them 'thar hills...there is breathtaking beauty and some kind of infinite knowledge that is gained by just allowing yourself to observe it and to learn from it. We were also rock hounds, but I don't know how much of our collection was left after he passed. I can't seem to find it. My dad was the smartest person I've ever known in my life, but you're a close second, Mr. Hurd! Keep on keepin' on!
I found that rugged tree planting bags are also a great item to utilize if you are hauling certain heavy items such as rocks a fair distance due to its even weight distribution...just an idea👍😉🇨🇦
That Little Rock crusher mounted on the back of the truck is such a great idea.!! The only thing I would probably modify on this nifty little product is a little shoot off to the side underneath so that it would direct your material one way or another instead of straight down.. super cool either way.! Thanks for sharing.!!
That piece o’gold is amazing!!!! Talk about “flower gold” ha! And that picker (yes I’ll call it a picker!) looks very fresh out of quartz. Reminds me of a 16/1 piece.
I feel like I go on a mini adventure every time I watch your videos. Thank you for sharing your quests and knowledge! I can’t wait to someday take the things I’ve learned and quest around my neck of the woods!
Haaa...the 6th pan ! The last is the best ! I think you proved the point Dan, there is raw gold in rocks. And I like the shape of them. All the best from NZ
People just don't understand prospecting ! You drill first and then you check your drill holes. That's the best way I've seen gold miners work huge claims. You're doing similar type prospecting Dan. Keep it up and 👍 Nice Vid !
The last rocks were those from the rusty quartz spot. And that would be first crushed and in the bottom of the crush. So it could be that the last pan would be from the last rusty spot.
I do hope you keep that little flower nugget as it is cause its kinda rare to see any gold in such a unique and undamaged form like that. Gold is gold but that thing is special.
Live watching gold panning videos before I sleep. Some reason I find them satisfying to watch. I had a dream last night that I was gold panning.....which is hilarious because I don't even think there's any gold near me.

Dear Dan We are from Switzerland and love your funny but also very interesting videos with the magnificent impressions of nature in the USA very much. In Switzerland there are very few places that are really gold bearing with nugets. These are mainly in the south in the mountains and central Switzerland near the city of Lucerne, seen in USA terms. I myself have a KEENE wash trough, was last Year but not found. It was still nice to enjoy nature and switch off from the stressful office job. We look forward to more Educational super beautiful videos and remain with very best regards Ardiana & René
I missed the video with the gold flower - need to go back and find it... So pretty! This little one is cute! Probably not really as surprise it was in the last pan - it fell through the crush as you shook it all out I'd say! Looks like today was certainly an adventure for you :-) Do take it easy - don't want you over doing things..
I’ve never panned one little speck yet, but ur videos are very informative and entertaining. Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge and thoughts
You can weld a couple pieces of steel underneath the crusher to form a slide for the crush to fall from so it doesn't bunch up on that bar that connects to the hitch of your truck.
The people who comment about you making more at McDonalds are probably stuck working at McDonalds. Don’t let the hater’s get you down. We love your content!!!

Great video Dan! Such beautiful scenery and doing what you love to do, who could ask for better?
Your optimism and enthusiasm is amazing.
The rock crusher is so cool I’ve never seen one like it . I’m a very big fan of yours Dan I love to watch your videos every time they are on .
To me, the flower nugget looks more like a “face hugger” nugget!
I was thinking that as well haha
LOL yesssss I should have read the comments before I said the same thing, most definitely a scary lil face hugger : D
Looks like a dead scorpion
Xenomorph gold!
Are you suggesting the infamous *skunk ape?!* haha
Absolutely a ton of content in this one that I really appreciate it’s good to see you back out there hitting it hard
I found that rugged tree planting bags are also a great item to utilize if you are hauling certain heavy items such as rocks a fair distance due to its even weight distribution...just an idea👍😉🇨🇦
Great video Dan that crazy crusher looks like it work's great and I like that attachment for the truck definitely a great idea for prospecting
That Little Rock crusher mounted on the back of the truck is such a great idea.!! The only thing I would probably modify on this nifty little product is a little shoot off to the side underneath so that it would direct your material one way or another instead of straight down.. super cool either way.! Thanks for sharing.!!
God bless you, Dan. I just discovered your channel recently and it's honestly helping me stay sane in these unsettling times.
So glad you persevered to the last pan, I had fun watching you and always enjoy your great attitude. Thank you Dan!
That piece o’gold is amazing!!!! Talk about “flower gold” ha! And that picker (yes I’ll call it a picker!) looks very fresh out of quartz. Reminds me of a 16/1 piece.
Dan, I'm with ya on panning. The job is worth it! Being outdoors is workin in paradise!!! 😄🤩💯✊
Keep doing what your doing sir. Not everyone can love what they do. Good adventures ahead sir!
THAT IS TOO COOL.! STEM AND ALL, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.! THANKS FOR SHARING DAN.!! 🤜🤛🙏
I do hope you keep that little flower nugget as it is cause its kinda rare to see any gold in such a unique and undamaged form like that. Gold is gold but that thing is special.
Please ignore the trolls Dan….many many more of us appreciate everything you do my friend
Live watching gold panning videos before I sleep. Some reason I find them satisfying to watch. I had a dream last night that I was gold panning.....which is hilarious because I don't even think there's any gold near me.
That flower nugget is beautiful.
Nature is a wonderful artist.
Loving life, productive fun hobby! Retirement is going wonderful for you! Trolls and Haters are part of the RUclips journey aren't they?
LOVE watching your videos!!
You make me look forward to spring and adventures with my son . Thank you Dan!
Dear Dan
We are from Switzerland and love your funny but also very interesting videos with the magnificent impressions of nature in the USA very much.
We look forward to more Educational super beautiful videos and remain with very best regards
Ardiana & René
Just a correction; most of the video Dan does is in Canada!🇨🇦

Hi Mr. Garrett
Thanks for the correction. We didn't know that🤔😉
Regards from swiss
love the outdoors, so just watching you outthere in the wilderness is worth watching. keep up the vids.
You crushed it Dan , thanks for the video!
Love watching and you take us to very amazing places , absolutely beautiful .
Good on you Dan. Keep having fun mate.
A bit late with advice, but wedge a log under the hitch to take the suspension bounce out of the equation. Another great Dan Hurd Production!
When I saw the photo on your instagram , I thought the gold flower was made by hand! Great timing on posting this video before Valentines day!!
Love watching your adventures! Disregard the bummers... Your awesome outlook and joy in prospecting proves the point! Good luck!
I’ve never panned one little speck yet, but ur videos are very informative and entertaining. Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge and thoughts
you are one energetic due the enerrgy that i can feel thru the PC from you lmfao. seriously tho great content and attitude just found this station
Dan, old time prospecting is diffidently in your blood. Your videos are great to watch, keep them coming!
You can weld a couple pieces of steel underneath the crusher to form a slide for the crush to fall from so it doesn't bunch up on that bar that connects to the hitch of your truck.
always a joy to watch you pursue your dream in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
The people who comment about you making more at McDonalds are probably stuck working at McDonalds. Don’t let the hater’s get you down. We love your content!!!
Dan! I absolutely love watching your videos! Sometimes I am amazed, sometimes I am empathetic, but I am always smiling when I watch you hunt for gold, crystals or Ocean Picture Stone. Please keep the videos coming! -- Champlin MN (where we have no gold...)
Dan, your living your best life in a way that inspires 10s of thousands of people (maybe MORE)! the trolls are part of the scenery in the RUclips world so KEEP ON TRUCKIN my man! WE LOVE YOUR WORK!
And i DID enjoy myself. Love your vibe!
