I am from The Netherlands and my grandmother lived in Powel river, i went to see her and stayed for six weeks and enjoyed it every day. I hope to see it again some day the surroundings are so much differnt than here it is so quiet instead of 18 million people in a country that is a tiny bit bigger then the size of Vancouver island
Devil's Club (Aralia spinosa) must be pretty common. Here in Delaware, we call it Devil's Walking Stick. It can be pretty when it gets larger and blooms.
Nice to see Tyler loved his channel. He was great at explaining his process and showing how he does his operation. I hope this calibration works our for both of you.
very interesting vid this week Dan! I wonder have you checked with any pottery folks local to you to see what the quality of that clay is? That might be a source of revenue you could explore!
Congratulations on the new mine gentlemen. Tyler a very special Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. Looking forward to seeing how the future is on your new adventure.
The thick blue clay divide is interesting. I would love to see a geo-historical explanation of the timeline and how such a thick layer ended up on top of those suspected high-yield structures.
I wish the both of you much success on your Quesnel river site. Tyler good to see you working again. Maybe we will cross paths this coming season. Cheers.
It's so crazy to think that all the gold found here on planet Earth, and indeed the whole universe, was created in the heart of a dying star! Gold even has the colour of a star. Beauuutiful!
Eh, he didn't say he was retiring. Just cutting back / doing more of what HE wants to rather than fan favorites. He also mentioned he has quite the back log of videos and things wouldn't change for a few months. He was quite clear about it.
If you watched that video he says he has a ton of videos already made, and was going to be posting all of those. This is from the fall, so he's technically not doing new videos.
When I saw you walking that river bank, Jeff Williams words echoed loud in my head " and ya you're going to get wet !" Congrats Dan, looks like you're going to have some fun there.😁
This is exciting! I hope y'all did find enough shiny to mine! We have devil's club down here in the southeastern states too, but it's usually called devil's walking stick. Nasty wicked lifeform! ♥
This is cool seeing the project from the start thanks Dan for taking us along because after the not nice comments you could have done this and not filmed it to share we all appreciate the time and money it took to do this thanks again Chris the porch miner
congrats on this new adventure Dan! im excited to follow along! i never imagined i'd be so fascinated in the mining process but you, jason and pauly have made it so that this is my favorite content to watch. so cool! thank you for sharing what you do with the rest of us!
Guess there's another reason to come hang out with my friends in Quesnel..... just comin' up to annoy them wasn't payoff enough, but some shiny could tip the scales! Goal this year is to poke around just across the border from ya, Republic, Wauconda, Molson (my g-grandfather is "on the wall" at the little museum there, among the past lawmen) and also a little on the opposite side of the Columbia a little further down. Wish I'd have gotten the bug when I was 18! Luckily the grandson is almost to that manual labor range!
This is so awesome! I’m so glad for you on this one. I’m the same age as you Dan. This is where we find our retirement. I was looking forward to seeing you “move up to the next level” Look forward to future videos.. Love 🤝🍻👍
I would love to see that quartz chunk after a bit of cleaning. So many indicators. Could you please put it in some HCl and disolve away the Iron/Calcite.
This is part 1 for us but Dan knows already if they're going to mine this or not. I hope that one of your claims in this area turn out to be mine worthy
I love watching Dan's videos and hate to criticize, but... I've been mining up here in Alaska for over 2 decades. It's usually just me and my machinery is a lot smaller than what Dan uses, but it's the same principle. The very FIRST thing you do with any new placer mine is... core drill the area you intend to work first. That literally gives you a map of the gold deposits on your claim. It's quite the investment but it saves A LOT of money by making sure you're not wasting time and money on unprofitable ground. The only thing Dan learned with his testing is what exists in that one tiny little spot. For all he knows the deposit is 2x+ richer 100 feet over. Without test drilling he'll never know. I don't put a single piece of machinery on the trailer much less haul it to the claim without drilling first. I want proof the area I'm working is worth the expense.
Awesome Dan. Best of luck. I also watch Tyler's Channel. Dan where did you get that music from in the background at the end of the video. I'd be interested in that music. I love the music especially the lyrics
Great video Dan it's awesome to show the physical side of setting up a real placer mine! Would you describe this as a (very) serious prospecting endeavour or have you already tested and proved parts of this ground? Or maybe we'll find out in the next video?!
Large scale placer formations now days can be reclimated progressively as one works in stages, so its often a case where one team is digging, while one team is covering up. On a smaller scale, its likely one would still kinda hold to that, if only that one would spend a set period of time on a plot, and then shift overburden from the following plot into the first plot, strategically, so that as the workings move, just keep the regrowth following the fresh dig. It can save a lot of time if operated properly.
Dan hurd is trolling us hard... Post a video saying he is cutting back, then proceeds to drop 2 or 3 videos a week... Way to school us Dan!!!! Love everything you do! Thanks for the knowledge!! Best wishes
So so cool to see Tyler back! What a great team, and what an epic adventure!!

Make sure you check the blue clays for silver content. The Comstock load was an example.

Thanks Dan always a pleasure to watch a gentleman like yourself. Look forward to a claim being worked.
very interesting vid this week Dan! I wonder have you checked with any pottery folks local to you to see what the quality of that clay is? That might be a source of revenue you could explore!
I was wondering the same.

Hey, Dan! Great video, as always! But have you heard anything from Andy Thraxx mining? He hasn't uploaded anything in a year, is he okay?
Good luck on this newer claim
Congratulations!!!! How exciting, what an amazing adventure.
It's so crazy to think that all the gold found here on planet Earth, and indeed the whole universe, was created in the heart of a dying star! Gold even has the colour of a star. Beauuutiful!

Awesome Dan! Im glad to see you upgraded your shovel. Excited for the series!
The blue clay we have here in Idaho is like 65-75 percent silver
Last week Dan was retiring, this week he's opening a new placer mine! Love it!😂
Nothing like a backlog to keep your fans engaged!

LOADS of content ahead!!
This is awesome, was sad but happy when you were talking about stepping back as you deserve it, but this will add to the already great content.
Dan you are like me. We say we are slowing down but then you can't stop thinking about the stress relief you get from doing it.
Sounds like you got your groove back! Rock on, fellow teacher!
Good luck prospecting.
Looks like a ton of fun i hope you enjoy it.

British Columbia - Bring me a shrubbery!!!
I watch you every sun. Aside from the gold panning, do you ever flush grouse in your rounds?
Thanks for the adventure, bro, and good luck with your claims!
Good luck!

Hey Dan, have you ever checked out Quesnel Forks? It's the old mining town the miners abandoned when they moved up to Barkerville. It's pretty cool.
so cool, good luck
This is part 1 for us but Dan knows already if they're going to mine this or not. I hope that one of your claims in this area turn out to be mine worthy
I see that your beard is extra shiny for this occasion, have fun 😄
Good luck Dan 🤞🏻
I love you Dan, keep up the good work

Wait for it, keep on keepin on...
Here’s hoping‼️
My Sunday Solace! 🫶
Tyler is the best!!!
good luck
Fascinating as always what colours
Nice to see you getting into the 'big time'. Do you have a large scale dredge? Will you have a source of water close to the mine?
Im looking forward to seeing the professional side of prospecting/mining
I'm looking forward to watching Dan become insanely rich - it rarely happens to such good natured people.
Awesome Dan. Best of luck. I also watch Tyler's Channel. Dan where did you get that music from in the background at the end of the video. I'd be interested in that music. I love the music especially the lyrics

Got devil's clubbed on the daily working for state parks in Kodiak Alaska 😂
Can you do a deeper check while you are there, and than sell the clame if there is more gold under the clay?
Just wondering how you decited where to build the road into? Wouldnt you have likely looking spots first? Thankyou for videos and learning
Dan hurd is trolling us hard... Post a video saying he is cutting back, then proceeds to drop 2 or 3 videos a week... Way to school us Dan!!!! Love everything you do! Thanks for the knowledge!! Best wishes
He actually said you wouldn't see a difference for a while. Because he had a backlog, a video ready.
@@Theonlysunazhe did say that …..
I think we have a keyboard jockey. Pay attention to what he says or beat it 🙄
All of these are recoded months in advance. It's February, not fall.
Get over it
Devil's Club is NASTY. Got some here.
Love watching your videos Dan. Do you ever drill to test for gold like they do on Gold rush?
Not far from yah buddy!!! Awesome!!!
looking out for part 2
