    I always marveled at the backround of scenes in the prequels. The clones that are stationed on that base and the wookies, all of them are chilling and getting equipment together to transport on their next mission. It is fascinating to me and I want to see more of it. The backrounds leave so many questions, I want to see more of it.

    There's some wonderful stuff in Stover's novel. I may be paraphrasing but Kenobi and Yoda talk about if ending the war tomorrow meant killing each other, they would do it EXCEPT Anakin. Kenobi says 'Anakin is loyal to people - not principles.' Something like that. I love that part! Basically, Anakin is fiercely loyal and expects loyalty in return. I don't think the Council showed him any kind of loyalty. He felt the Jedi were using him. At least Palpatine LISTENED to him.

    • @fitnessfan1529
      @fitnessfan1529 6 лет назад +31

      Palpatine "listened" to Anakin only to learn how he could use him for his own purpose, which was to rule the galaxy. He regarded Anakin expendable just like Dooku, and was willing to sacrifise him at the end of Episode VI when he saw a better replacement in Luke.

      There's actually a truth in that Obi-Wan, for all his flaws, knows Anakin well enough to understand him and mentoring.
      In Episode II, Anakin was admittedly very unstable and cocky, and while his fighting skills are top notch, his overconfidence undid him.
      After that Anakin (though not without missteps) managed to be much more mature and understanding during the Clone Wars. Plus, Anakin's confusion and unstability had different groundings, rather than mere cockiness, is having trust and companionship issues, which is why Obi-Wan objects about sending Anakin to spy the shady chancellor. Obi-Wan knows Anakin is vulnerable, but by Episode III he does believe Anakin cold be a great Jedi if he's just fostered the right way, as their final farewell before the falling ot is something to go with.

    I believe this scene really shows the de facto “trifecta” leadership of the Jedi order to basically Obi-wan, Mace, and Yoda. Had the Jedi been successful is overthrowing the Emporer and the corruption in the senate these 3 Jedi would be the most powerful masters in the galaxy. I believe the rest of the council was not aware of Anakins assignment. The assignment was most likely procured but Mace and supported by Yoda and pushed to Obiwan to offer to Anakin. It really minimized the Jedi order and made the council look less than equal parts. I believe the Emporer foresaw this before Yoda which gave him the advantage because of his constant close contact with Anakin.

    Mace Windu should’ve trust Anakin for telling him Palpatine was a Sith Lord. Anakin was given the task to spy on Palpatine and when he finally did the job, He should’ve let Anakin join him with Kit Fisto and the other Jedi Masters to confront Palpatine. Mace Windu shouldn’t have attempt to kill Darth Sidious, he should’ve just cut off Sidious’s hands, and he would face trial. Anakin was right when he said “It’s not the Jedi way” to kill. All of this could’ve happen, if and only if, Mace Windu just trusted Anakin.

    You know since the clone wars I began to wonder: did yoda consider anakin a friend? Funny how the order fell just bc it's leaders fail to help a boy who wanted to be free ( yet jedi denied him even that)

    • @Marvellous132
      @Marvellous132 2 года назад +5

      I don't think that's strictly true. Anakin wanted to be free, but he also wanted more than that. He wanted to be connected to others. This is what drives his reluctance to say goodbye to his mother, his lust for Padme and his surrogate father/son relationship with Palpatine. As a kind of measure against such emotions, the Jedi try to minimize those connections which can be exploited and lead them to the dark side. Anakin simply refused to curtail his emotions. He used them to get more powerful, but they were ultimately his downfall. Because he did the opposite of letting his mother go, he lost a piece of himself in that Tuskan slaughter. He fully indulged in his relationship with Padme. He exhibited a range of his emotions he couldn't control before the Clone Wars even started (love, fear, arrogance, anger, jealousy, hate, anxiety...). More than freedom, Anakin wanted power. His ambition started from a good place (of wanting to free people), to being personal (never wanting to lose people he loved), to being for the sake of power (because he felt he was entitled to it). I'm not sure how the Jedi could've stopped Anakin basically being who he was.

      Nah. Yoda actually cared about and trusted Anakin to some degree, but not to the extent like Obi-Wan or Ahsoka.
      I mean Yoda was the very Jedi who knighted Anakin, he was the Jedi who assigned a padawan to Anakin and tried to help him learn to let go via his mentorship of her.
      Also Anakin trusted Yoda to a degree as well.
      He had Yoda's back when he went on a spiritual journey after learning of Qui-Gon's becoming one with the force.
      Also remember when Anakin had his nightmares about Padme he went to Yoda for help, showing the degree of trust he had in him, even though Anakin felt dissatisfied and upset by Yoda's words.

    • @Marvellous132
      @Marvellous132 2 года назад +1

      WHAT? Qui-Gon was relying on nothing but prophecy when he brought Anakin to the council in the first place. He was going to disregard them on training Anakin. I don't know how it would've turned out but Qui-Gon didn't have to deal with the situation they were in. War and politics weren't on the Jedi to-do list. They were manipulated by the master manipulator who engineered a war where he controlled both armies and propaganda. I'm not sure how Qui-Gon would've navigated those waters.
