Thanks for covering this Aaron. I bought a HiFi for my non-electrified Taylor and I’m really happy with it. Easy to install and is one of the best pickups for what I do that I’ve tried. This one sounds even better!
Oh man, Hifi Duet sounds great in all settings. I really like that 100% mic blend is a bit much live because it probably wont be too much for recording direct. Thanks Aaron!
Hey Aaron. It was great hanging out with you for a little bit at Namm. I didn't get the chance to tell you but I really did like the setting you suggested for me to try on the new hifi duet system. It was the best blend. I also liked the Silo with a pinch/barely on at like 15% or 20%. Sounded very natural.
As others have said, thank you for covering this. The HiFi Duet is the most exciting thing for me from this year's NAMM and I just bought a new Martin 000-15SM which needs a pickup-the Duet will be perfect. Thanks again, Aaron.
Nice job getting the info to all of us Aaron. Seems like this may be an upgrade over the Anthem given the fact that the Silo mic is much more mature and evolved over the TruMic in the Anthem. Very cool. Also good to know that the mix wheel never fully dials out the HiFi soundboard transducers. It's always going to represent some degree of blend between the two. Good to know!
I played them back to back. I still think the Anthem sounds ‘tighter’ and will have its place in some guitars/rooms. For those that want a more natural sound with nothing under the saddle the HiFi Duet could be a great option.
@@tleek Yeah I get it. At the time, it was the most promising non-invasive PU on the market and the price was right. I have to take comfort that I got my value. Yet I would gladly have paid more to get the dual source HiFi pickup with the Silo mic. I will probably go that route when it's available.
Yep, thanks. Will buy 2-3 when available. Hope they also make the mic voicing OK for guitars tuned down to D or even C# standard tuning. Please, Baggs, don’t just optimize for typical E standard tuning!!!
Just installed the Hifi and I really like the non-invasive installation and the natural sound. When clicked at this I thought YES!! Give me that!, but my gosh, why did you kill the EQ/Tone-Control? Add it before shipping, PLEASE! I don't care if I have to reach for it in the guitar like that little black wheel. For my Hifi it is set and forget most of the time anyway, but we need this... Vote up the comment!
Thanks for this Aaron, very exciting. Do you know what pedals he had on during that demo? Was he using the Voiceprint to add some special sauce? Or was that pretty dry. It sounded amazing so I hope it was. Cheers 😊
What kind of noise? I tested it with in ear monitors and there was no noise. Also they plugged into a Baggs Synapse so they didn’t need a DI and many of the pedals on the board were buffering the signal.
How’s the adhesive? Your adhesive has been my only complaint with LR Baggs over the years. They sound great but the battery packs have all fallen off in the bodies of my guitars.
I’ve only had the adhesive fail once and it was because there had been a system installed previously. Once the area was sanded and cleaned correctly it was fine. Also be sure to hold the piece in place long enough when installing so that it sticks well. I have had other brands systems come loose but I just had to replace the adhesive pads and you can also apply a very small amount of glue if it’s really necessary but you shouldn’t need to if the area is completely clean and you hold the piece in place long enough when applying it.
I never use the battery pouches. I just put a duel lock velcro strip in the same place the velcro the pouch. I then add a small piece of duel lock on the 9 volt. No battery drops yet! It does mean you need to keep some duel lock on hand for battery swaps.
No one knows yet but my feeling right now is that the SL will be a little ‘tighter’ sounding and a little less prone to feedback. The Duet should have more air and be a little more natural. We have to wait for the finished product to ship.
It's such a shame that LR Baggs products are so horribly overpriced. It makes experimentation extremely inconvenient for the average working musician. I really think they could halve their prices and still make a fat profit.
That would be nice for sure but what other dual source pickup systems are $199? The Fishman Infinity Mic Blend is $319.99 and the K&K Trinity is $513...

The Silo mic is a nice upgrade!
Great sounding, so far. I am even more excited now ;-). Thx. again for showing this stuff to all of us, dear Aaron. Very well made!
Thanks for your support!
Awesome!! I've been waiting for this!!
Sounds incredible. Thanks for this.
Thanks for watching!

50-75% was the ‘sweet spot’ for me.

You’re welcome!
Excited about this! Looking to add this to my 000-28 MD
I like what I am hearing so far. It could be a great option for many players. I have another video that I will be posting this week.
Very impressive, thanks so much for the explanation.
Glad it was helpful!

@@aaronshortmusicThat’s great info. The other question I have is weight - does the Hifi duet weigh less than the anthem? If so, noticeably?
@@peterpicker850 About the same as far as I know.
Can't wait to get a comparison to the Anthem
This is the one for me. It's going to be awesome in my Seagull Artist Mosaic and my Yamaha FG5. Let's go! 🤘
Rock on!
PS: I do however wish Baggs would incentivize and offer a discount to those of us who own a HiFi from one year ago.
They did say at the time that they were working on a microphone version. You can always remove and sell your HiFi.
I just bought a Hifi a few months ago. I should have held out!
@@tleek If you are happy with it then you don’t necessarily need to upgrade. Also you can easily remove it and sell it when you are ready to.

I would orient the pickup wires toward the front, away from the string pins to ensure they would not get entrapped during string changes.

Great point!
Another review with open tuning, especially DADGAD
Excellent review
Thank you! LR Baggs are continuing to work on it. I will have more info soon!

Just EQ I think but I have no idea. Check out the other video of my direct recordings.
@@aaronshortmusic perfect, thanks mate 👍
Hi Aaron! I noticed a noise when he mixed 50/50 and 100% microphone. Several pedals on the floor but no DI?
What kind of noise? I tested it with in ear monitors and there was no noise. Also they plugged into a Baggs Synapse so they didn’t need a DI and many of the pedals on the board were buffering the signal.
Do the sticky pads that hold the wires have any impact on the guitar sound as they are stuck on the guitar top. Tx
I have not done a test but they are so light that I cannot believe so. Just be sure to secure them correctly so that they do not vibrate.
How’s the adhesive? Your adhesive has been my only complaint with LR Baggs over the years. They sound great but the battery packs have all fallen off in the bodies of my guitars.
Same here.

@@jeremiahMc11 Great tip too. I love 3M dual lock.
I play in a church prone to feedback.
Which is better (less feedback)? The Anthem or Hifi duet?

@@ricmel8008 Thanks for watching. Please subscribe and share. I plan on covering all of the acoustic news this year. It’s going to be great!
If I buy the HiFi right now could I buy the microphone later or should I just wait on the duet?
No. I would wait.
What audio recorder is it at 7:04?
Tascam Portacapture X8.
Wow
Yo hoy día hice mi pedido de la tienda de lrbggas .como me llegará a actualizado?
Maybe LR Baggs will answer that. It should be released by the fall.
Day-um....it's $450!!!
I know. Great price for a pro level pickup.
At the moment I still prefer the lyric.
I love the Lyric with IEM and for recording but I still prefer the Anthem live.
Anyone want to buy a second hand Anthem? ...
I still like the Anthem. It’s a different sound.
440 $ for this
Yes I think it’s fair if it turns out to be the best on the market.

That makes it ok then, does it? LR Baggs could corner the market.@@aaronshortmusic
@@stavrospapadimitriou7631 Not saying that but the market does dictate the price.
No. Corporate greed dictates the price. These pickup systems cost a few dollars to manufacture.@@aaronshortmusic
So, we just buy the newest shit they design. No, f that, k and k and a pre, better than this shit.
