    This is so awesome. Thank you It takes me back 50 years to a bit shorter spearguns by Boris Innocenti, a true SCUBA and custom speargun pioneer, and much shorter fins by Scubapro. I remember three 200 lb groupers taking me down past 115 feet slowly staying 20 feet in front of me with me thinking for a moment I might try to shoot one. That was a dream that could have been a nightmare had reason not prevailed over what I assume was nitrogen narcosis. Those sharks snagging at carcasses in the surf made a great finale to this episode. Thank for the rush.

  • @jf76
    @jf76 2 года назад +1

    Paradise! I suppose it depends on the fish but try the fish cheeks if you haven't, especially in white fish. There are only two cheeks obviously so they are a delicacy - so tender. Too good for the sharks! Making a fish stock with the head and bones would be great too. Bring some dried Japanese seaweed and also dried mushrooms as part of your kit - lightweight, they take almost no space, non-perishable, flavourful, healthy and are so versatile. True you might be able to forage those things too maybe but I am more of a spoiled camper with fewer skills, ha.

    You invited comments on how you cook your tuna (in a marinade mix and dipped in crumbs). As a fly-fisher in Alberta, Canada for 48 years, I have often cooked fresh trout over a camp fire with just four ingredients: Aluminum foil for wrap; thinly sliced lemon in the gutted-out cavity and one of three herbs (dill leaves, Thyme or Coriander, but only one them per cooked fish); and butter smudge on the outside of the fish, before wrapping it in the foil. Every type fresh or salt water fish has it unique taste that should not be overpowered with an abundance of various spices, sauces and marinades - because you will by and large only taste these instead of the unique taste of the particular fish meat.

    • @CarolinaGirlCreationZ
      @CarolinaGirlCreationZ 2 месяца назад

      Their fish looked really good to me and I'd probably try it if it was shipped from somewhere far away frozen, but if it was fresh out of the ocean, especially same day, I'd probably go with something simple like you suggested.

Then day 3 pull all the meat off the bone and the meat gone gray from the ice, and chop it up really fine. Add some grean onion and an egg, maybe some panko and make Pattie’s. They can be tuna burger or tuna cakes and best way to use a day 3 yellow fin.
