Home run hire. You bring in a guy who the 2 previous DC’s learned under and a guy who will allow coach Moore to focus almost completely on running the offense
Perfect hire to retain scheme, give Moore an experienced mentor and attract any recruits with NFL dreams. All good,as long as Moore places a young successor to learn from Wink as long as he stays at UM.
Wait a minute. Last week the world was ending when Minter left. I said he is not the only coach in the entire universe that can do the job. People, give Sherrone Moore a chance to do his job and quit second-guessing what he's doing. The guy is smart, he knows how to do the job of coaching Michigan - he apprenticed with Jim Harbaugh.
@@unc0mm0n2 cute.... Bringing an old recruiting assistant back to fill that role, Sean McGee - so nice try, he was over at the Chicago Bears, now he's coming back to Ann Arbor to fill that role... sorry but NFL leaning recruiting handled
I'm very pleased with this hire. Now, the important thing to do is put some protégés around Wink for the next few years who'd be excited to learn from him.
Great move. Certainly, those on the roster should be happy, in addition to incoming recruits. Also, another year of punching the other state in the mouth.
Worse case scenario, the defense takes a step back, even then it'll be a top 20 defense at worse case scenario considering how many defensive players are returning.
No team will have the horses to go against this defense. With this hire, in addition to increased NIL, I'd be surprised if many or even any leave from the defense.
@otisjohnjr.3023 that the complete opposite especially in 25 they'll be losing all those players on the defense. You mentioned nil mich doesn't spend like osu,Oregon,Georgia etc so that's going to be the Achilles of the program that will actually hurt.
As long as he isnt Don Brown 2.0. He meeds to evolve blitzing, mask schemes better but could be great fit. Serves as strong coach on that side of ball who can train up some other you g talented coaches.
He's who Minter and Mike Mac base their entire schemes on. He disguises blitzes very well. You never know from where it might come from. Oddball CB blitz, which linebackers are going to drop back into coverage after showing blitz at the line. A spy mid field who might drop back into coverage depending on what the QB is doing right after the snap. Don Brown's defense was to almost always blitz, and hope that the blitz gets home before all the backfield players in man coverage have a ball thrown their way. Wink, MacDonald and Minter do more cover 3 than anything, but when they first line up, it's hard to tell what they're going to do. They look like they're going to full cover 0 more often than not at the line, but then as soon as the ball snaps, half the guys drop back into coverage, and it's not the same group of guys dropping back every time. Totally different from what DB does.
I think he’s butt hurt about not getting a promotion. That would be a huge loss. Hopefully we can retain Jordan Marshall, our up and coming recruit, who’s an absolute beast.
I am going to be in the minority here but I am questioning this hire due to his age and what will he bring recruiting wise. Hope I am wrong but I don’t want to go back to 9-3 days
We are going to take a step back. Too many new starters. But this team should be able to make another run at a natty in 1-2 years. I believe coach more will start to get 5 star players as well. Hardbau could not recruit the top 20 players in the country. That's what we need to catch Georgia. Go Blue!!
Well played Sherrone, well played.

Home run hire????? No way, this is an OK hire at best. I'm VERY concerned about the future, especially since we're so miserably lagging in NIL.

Like Clink?

Good Hire!

Very excited about this!!
Damn savvy move on Moore's behalf.... he accomplishes several things at once with this hire.
Yep he got a non recruiting coordinator and lost his best recruiting assistant. 2 birds 1 stone type of stuff there.

Michigan football winning back to back national championships 🏆🏆
This is a very good hire! Michigan’s defense should remain solid!
Good stuff Clay

Wink and clink are going to be a good combo
😂😂😂
Pay Klink
That's the Luftwaffe's responsibility.
Chargers did.

lol 😂 on probation?

Agreed
Next seasons schedule can produce a lot of worse case scenarios

You're a fool with your analysis

Michigan has good recruiters at the assistant level. The difference between Michigan and other schools is that we don’t buy high schoolers
Not so fast my friend
Nice!!! Good shit
Wow, nice hire Moore! This staff could be better than last years when it is all said and done. Defense guys must be pumped to get wink.
That’s a delusional take.
Rumor has it that Michael Hart in South Carolina interviewing
HE is gone-don't know why.
He’s never seemed happy at Michigan. Rarely smiling or acting engaged

Love his rapper's reference. Lol
What about the offense
Train Clink for two years and then give him the job of DC
Clink is gone…
As soon as the DC was announced, Clink hit the bricks…hmmmmm
So is Minter the Eminem in that analogy? Interesting take…
I would be insulted.
Recruiting is Garbage anyway now Wink 😳🤨
We need nil and I think Michigan won’t be serious about it til Ohio beat us a couple times unfortunately
Thank god they hired another 60+ year old DC who won’t recruit and can’t relate.
Fired after 3 seasons with the Giants?
Horrible hire. His defense was atrocious in New York. Back to being garbage I guess. Guy hasn't been in college since 2003. Can he even recruit.
New York is a dumpster fire. This hire is decent not great.
Jesse minter was on 1-11 Vanderbilt before Michigan.
Can’t compare nfl to college
They have clink and others to do the recruiting all he needs to do is close with saying I can get you in league. His resume speaks for itself
Do you not understand this guy mentored Jessie minter and Mike McDonald
i hate this hire. Pro players couldnt understand this guys defense, and they think college kids will? i hope i am wrong
If history is our guide the defense will go backward for three years and he will be fired.
Thankfully it’s not
He's a bad coach he was fired from the last two teams he's coached. His defenses are over aggressive and constantly underperform
Obvious match. Wink had no options left, and neither did Michigan. Both were kind of desperate.
