    Coulda, woulda, shoulda. If I'd have done this or that I woulda shot like this. You guys really should put some philosophical thought into how you view what can be evaluated from 5 shots & the presumed cause & effect.
    During the Neary podcast, Jack starts telling us that had a particular shooter done this or that, he woulda shot better. Regardless of the results, I can't accept that kind of mentality or, the mentality of assigning any particular cause to a particular effect over 5 or 10 shots. I see this as the real issue with BR shooting, regardless of the results. Believing the target with respect to the 5 shots that made that group is one thing. Assigning all kinds of assumed causes is a totally different thing
    From an outsider perspective, listening to the many BR shooters & their numerous & usually differing assumptions of cause & effect is difficult to accept.
    Given that there are so many differing cause & effect assumptions explained on these podcasts, I'm beginning to see that the majority of the results are more the consequence of wind reading ability & chance with load assumptions being a minor cause of the outcome.
    Thank you again Erik for all you're doing with these podcasts. I know that my comments appear as picky & negative but that is not my intention. After viewing all your podcasts & listening very carefully trying to put all the information into some quantitative explanation, I have to say that these podcasts have proven to be probably the best loosely integrated source of shooting information from which we can each choose to evaluate across the wide & varied shooting sports.
    Once again, thank you Erik for the excellent podcast.

      When Tom Brady threw an interception he didn't need a whole game to figure out why. Just like these guys don't need a truck load of freedom seeds to see what's happening to a group.

      @@rickschwertner282 Comparisons to football is what is to be expected from someone with no idea.
      Try some real testing & you'll see for yourself. A one time test of 50 rounds is a small price to pay to prove to yourself how inadequate 3 shot groups really are.

    • @rickschwertner282
      @rickschwertner282 2 месяца назад

      You are correct Mr. Austrilia, I am not a world class bench rest shooter. I do however shoot from a bench quit a lot to confirm load development, wind drift, and waterlines for my actual rifle sport. And after watching Eriks interview with Jack my approach to loads and load development changed somewhat. The football comparison was to state that these people have been in these scenarios so often they can self identify and correct their errors. If you ever get state side I see two world class shooters on this pod cast who can show you a little of their magic and I'm sure I could introduce you to some in the other shooting sports

    • @rotasaustralis
      @rotasaustralis 2 месяца назад

      @@rickschwertner282 The real issue as I see it is the complete faith people put into what these guys say is what works & why.
      For example, how many different brands of actions are used within the BR community?
      How many different barrel types, designs, weights, lengths, diameters & profiles are used?
      How many different powders, primers, bullets, front rests, back rests, firing pin spring weights & barrel conditions?
      How many different chamber reamers, throat lengths, throat diameters, leed angles, twist rates, land diameters, land numbers, crown angles, tuner settings?
      How many different styles of shooting, free recoil, slight shoulder pressure( whatever that means)?
      How many different stocks, glued in, pillar bedded, epoxy bedded......?
      So, with all those multiple combinations, in unquantifiable amounts & combinations, what are the chances that anyone can really know with any certainty at all, the cause & effects beyond what they choose to convince themselves of?
      Every time I make a comment about what I can clearly see that they can actually know on the very limited testing most them do, it is always taken as I am pissing all over them. The fact is, there are so many possible variables, I can't see how anybody could know all the causes & the effects.
      I don't think any of these guys are stupid or that they can't read wind better than most but, I can see very clearly that there is a huge element of assumption involved in what they choose to believe. Jack Neary is a good case in point. According to Jack, any shooter can take any commonly used load combination in any brand BR action in any stock, with any front & rear rest, with any shooting technique, change the powder charge up or down depending on the placement of the last shot & voila.
      I'm sorry but, I simply won't & never will accept that.

    • @rickschwertner282
      @rickschwertner282 2 месяца назад

      Point well taken. Should we assume they were talking of the BAT action with Kreiger barrel then? Still too many variables for me to make an assumption. What I really noticed in my "Game" that I got from Jack was this. No load stays happy in all elements. Be it temperature, humidity or elevation. I recently tuned a 223 that shot dots. Half way through the match I had to readjust the kestrel for the increase in velociy as well as zero. Taking a note from Jack I dropped said load only .1 grn and it is pretty darn happy from 61 degrees F. To 105 degrees F. Its not a dot shooter at any temp but a really good one at all temps. What really strikes me ( actual testing on this one) is how two loads shoot similar groups and water lines but one is fickle to wind and the other cuts right through it.

  • @7071t6

    As far as cleaning i have yet to see a bronze brush used in F class and match rifle at least in AU ,they use a solvent and a rag on the end of the cleaning rod to clean the barrels which are all 308 F class and thats at 1,200 yards, after shooting only 10 rounds they clean the barrels and these weapon systems are worth as much as over 15 to 20K when made new including hi end scopes as well and most of the guys have at least 5 rifles in the cars with them ,all diffrent barrels and different scopes and at different life spans of shooting as well. 🦘🦘👌👍✌
    What i do not understand if its only 200 yards why on earth is none of the targets getting hit right in the middle of the first inner ring as in bulls eye or X ring or V ring for f class? Or is it the size of the group overall and they then measure the groups and then you get a score per say.
    I get the wind playing a factor but you would adjust for that and see what your impacts are etc.
    Eric and speedy are some of the world class shooters in the respective classes? 🦘🦘👌👍✌

    • @scott2776
      @scott2776 2 месяца назад +3

      Some shooters do not want the bullet impacting the heavy black line on the mothball. Those groups make measuring more difficult and generally will measure bigger than groups in the white areas. Last thing you want to do is shoot out your aim point too. Have the bullets impact away from your cross hairs.
