For over a year I was going through a nightmare with my aircon. Last trip to Poland from Uk was hell on earth. Thanks to you my problem is GONE! I took the part off and cleaned it with clutch cleaner in a spray! It works perfectly! 2h of work it was and Im not a mechanic. Audi said £250 just for the part. Thank you, thank you, thank you, god bless you good man!:D verry happy now and soon going to Poland like a boss again! ;)
If you want to service the 2 pistons yourself you can do it yourself WITHOUT taking off any pipes or electrical fittings. I have just done it myself. You will need the appropriate sized torx driver. Care must be taken when removing to two covers on the pistons as a piston may come out with the cover and fall down the back (not a nice feeling just ask me lol). Once both covers are off you can carefully remove the pistons and clean up any residue or substance on the hardened chrome surface. Make sure you keep note of which one went on which side. Not sure if it makes much difference but better to be safe than sorry. You can then separate the lower assembly and will see 2 conical shaped brass valves. Ensure that where the valves and the seats for the valves are both free from any residue, obstruction or build up. Then it is just a matter of reassembling everything. Make sure that the valve stems are sitting absolutely vertical before putting the bottom stage on. I had a problem screw also that may have cross threaded so be very mindful of that too. If it is too tight to start off with try again. The other thing that may be helpful for this and other jobs such as this is to have a rare earth magnet handy for when you are pulling the screws out. If you position it near the screw as you are lifting and it slips and starts to fall the magnet will generally grab it. Just a fail safe. Mine is working well now. Don't forget to check for leaks around the pistons after a run up to temperature. You may need to torque them down again. I did it this way as I just couldn't seem to get in to get the hoses undone as the fittings were out of reach. Always good to make sure the go back in a position you or someone else can easily get to. Hope this helps.
This is BRILLIANT!!! I feel so stupid for not thinking about this way of cleaning it.. Maybe I would be scared of loosing those tiny parts, maybe I still don't know what is it like to take it apart with coolant still inside.. But I'm certain - next time I'll have to clean it - I'll do it your way! By the way those torx drivers are T10 size. I'm not going to change the video, because my way is also way :) It is not so easy, but, I think safer.. If you don't mind I will post your comment at my website, I'll change description of the video - I'll point to your comment. Many thanks for sharing this!
Rod you are correct 4 torx screws. clean the pins off with a rag replace. job done. About an hour job if you have a Miller Lite in one hand. If your vents start blowing hot air in the summer with the A/C on this is the fix.
Had the same problem on my 2005 A6 3.0 Quattro. Initially stripped off the solenoids and cleaned them, fixed the problem temporarily. In the end, I also had to replace the HVAC control unit. Excellent video - helped me so much. Thanks.
Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to do this. I'm sincerely grateful. Just used the quick method. Be careful when screwing the 6 little screws back in to hold the metal lids on the valves. They are self-tappers screwing into plastic, very easily cross threaded. I snapped one with only very moderate force using a screwdriver style Torx10. (Had to drill and tap a new hole as I couldn't get it out). Use a magnet on your driver to avoid dropping the screws.
i did this to my 2009 2.0t a6 c6 tfsi also. it is getting better but also found out my orifice tube are dirty so pay another US5 for parts replacement. Super cool now
Helpful video....fyi pliers exist that are specifically designed for "spring" hose clamps. They are typically pretty long and allow for much needed articulation. Worth every penny
Thanks, I'll get them.. However last time I cleaned this valve I didn't take whole unit out and didn't disconnect pipes or plugs - just took out 6xT8 bolts, took solenoids off and cleaned everything with no drama - much easier..
I would like to thank you very much again. I had tried to solve the problem, but I was not successful. However, after watching your video, I was able to remove a problem. Thank you so much one more again :)
@@wawayltd cant wait to sell this audi , there are a pain in the ass , my door actuator has problems , i did new compressor, new manifolds, remove dpf stage 1 . Cant stay 1 month without services
Thanks for this video and you are right most mechanics don't know what they are talking about and take you for a ride. I have a A8, same problem. Should I take out my control module for heater and clean?
I'm not sure what is it like on A8, but if it's the same - it's not that difficult to clean, don't even need to take it out, just remove top solenoids.
Feel free to share as it is all about getting good information out there by any means. If I do it again I will post a video. Thanks to you for posting your vid as it helped me locate the problem in the first place
Hi Guys, Once you get this apart what would you recommend cleaning it with? Also my car is doing something a bit odd. I think this is the same issue but it will run for 5-10 min then turn the heat on for a minute and keep this cycle going for as long as I have the AC on Auto. Once I put it on manual it does not have an issue. Girlfriend says put it on manual and leave it alone however i don't see the point of having something and not being able to use it. Last summer it would only blow cold air on the outside vents and hot in the middle. Thankfully it was the end of the season so I left it be. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I just bought the same unit brand new haven’t installed it yet but to comment on taking it apart your really better of replacing with a after market one for 50$ the screws are most likely really brittle and will break for sure either during or after removal thanks for this video tho you make it look easy peasy lol
Thank you for the video! I have a similar problem, but not exactly the same: my cooling/ heating unit is cooling left and heating on right, when it is warm/ very warm outside. I changed the unit, but it didn’t really fixed the problem. I ‚m looking for a solution. By the way: it is a good idea to replace the cooling liquid, when the new or cleaned unit is reinstalled. It could be 1/2 liter or more you loose during change process.
Hi my audi a6 c7 2018 driver side blow cold air and passenger hot when turn on full heating on climate control. And from driver side can hear noise very light tiktik for few seconds, i did diagnos no error came any idea what will be cause plz help
Thanks for these videos. They have saved me $$$$ on my '06 A6 4.2. One question I have on this is the fluid. I don't see any mention of refilling the fluid that leaks out when replacing the unit. Is there a need for this or is it just then normal engine coolant?
What if the a/c isn't working? I have an 06 audi A6 3.2 quattro and the ac stopped working recently after a hot day. I remember about 2 year ago i replaced the compressor. So it shouldn't be that. I have researched online and found that maybe its throwing a code and could be cleared? Or maybe my cabin filter? And also a relay switch. Not sure but its a heat wave on the east coast and im dying. Appreciate any insight.
If AC isn't working, first I would check if there's a pressure, if there isn't or pressure is low then AC button shouldn't engage. Alternatively service stations, garages can check your pressure and system in general for leaks. If pressure is good, you can hear or even feel with engine revs on idle if pressing button engages and disengages compressor. If pressure is ok, but compressor isn't working, I would blame compressor or compressor clutch. If you had it dome 2 years ago, it still can be faulty. I'm not a specialist, out of all AC components, I have experience only with pressure, compressor... oh yeah, there's also pressure switch which is quite easy to replace. To check if that's faulty, you should check with diagnostic system to see what pressure computer reading, if it fails to read - could be that switch/sensor.. Hope it helps.
Great video, thanks for sharing! If the problem is faulty/stuck magnets would it be possible to remove just the magnets from top of the unit, without taking the whole unit out? The magnets appear easily accessible when the unit is seated in place.Thanks.
Yes, sure, you can do it without taking whole unit out. Last time (just few days ago) I've done it just by taking 6xT10 bolts out, then took out everything, leaving just two holes in the unit, it didn't even leak - coolant level stayed just with the level of holes. I cleaned it all, put back together and it works fine - much easier than messing with hoses. Unless you are perfectionist and want to clean everything ;) Shame I forgot to take photos or video.. next time maybe.. By the way, if you look bellow, there is a comment 5 months ago from someone called Rod - he has done the same.
Really interesting video. Thanks. My problem is with a 1998 A6 and is that the heating is not working. Coolant levels have been checked but doesn't seem to make any difference. Could this unit be the cause of the problem ie it is sticking in the closed position. Really annoying especially as only one of the front seat heaters are working. Don't want to spend too much bearing in mind the age of the car. At the moment on cold days I let my wife drive as its the passenger seat heater that works!!! Thanks for any help you could give.
If I'm not mistaken, your heating control is different to the one in the video. Your temperature flaps are controlled by bowden cables. Maybe check one on drivers side. Remove driver's storage compartment, then remove the front section of the centre console, see if it's damaged, check flap.
Bogdan Pop, for some stupid reason youtube doesn't allow me to reply to your comment. I'm gonna reply by this new comment - hope you'll see it. Now back to bolt. It depends on what kind of bolt we are talking about - if it's a bolt holding bracket - I don't see that as a problem. If it's one of those T10 bolts, holding solenoids, then it can be problem - your unit likely will leak - and you'll be loosing your coolant liquid. I had same problem (see my website), therefore I warned in my video to be careful with them.. My advice - get new bolt - it all needs to be tight.
If it's not on full heat all the time, but just not cooling down the air, if lowest you can get is outside temperature - then there's a problem with AC system, more likely compressor.
Hi there I have the same problem only its blowing out cold are even at full temp ! Would this be the same unit to replace? It's a 2 litre diesel 57 plate a6 avant? Thanks
You don't have to replace it, cleaning is quite easy, even without taking unit out.. I'll give you link: ruclips.net/video/BlreVXqA390/видео.html Try and see if it helps..
mY 2014 A4 all road is acting strange sometimes the heat barley works and then nothing. The A/C is also working randomly. DO you think Rods solution will help me? thanks
AC system is different from the heater, so, I believe, it must be sorted separately. If on your 2014 A4 they installed the same heating control valve - it's always worth cleaning it, as it's rubbish design. I know on newer A6, it was changed, not sure about A4.
Hi i have a problem with my climate control at audi a6 c6 le mans edition 3.0 quattro some times i set the climate to cold and after some time on the left side start to flow hot and on the right side is cold the error on VCDS is 01207 can't communicate with aux heating after this if I stop the engine for 10-15 minutes is work good. Can be this problem from this unit? Thank you I hope to have a response from you.
It looks like it could be a problem with this unit. I think it would be worth to open it and give it a good clean. If it doesn't work, then it may be something else. There is one good video where someone cleans it without taking it out. 3.0 like yours. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/BlreVXqA390/видео.html
Hi .In my car besides the problem with the high temperature in the car, in the board I have as a display the temperature up to -38 ° C. Is that the same problem with this car?
Not sure about display, I didn't have one in my car, but it's always easy to clean and see if it helps. By the way, it's not necessarily to take the unit out, you can access it simply from the top - please see the description.
I have almost the same problem. Sometimes I don't have hot air at all and othertimes I have full hot air no matter if I have it to low degrees or hi. Maybe is that thing???
Hello mate, i got a audi a6 c7.5 2l ultra. 4 zone clima control, and drivers side just blows cold air passengers side worm. Can be that heating valve problem ?
Hi I want to ask you a question. My Audi A4 1.9 tdi 2003 model Ac is blowing only hot air And the radiator fan not coming ON when AC is on. What can you recommend Thanks
Hi Ali. Radiator fan normally has mind of its own, I don't know when they come on and off, maybe it's just me though :) As for temperature regulator - do you have it automatic, where you set certain temperature in degrees or manual one where you make warmer or cooler by yourself?
Hi! I have a 2011 A3 and I have the same problem. I don't know if its exactly the same as my problem, in my case i get hot air only on the drivers side, the passenger side is still controllable...do you think I might have the same problem that you mention?
Initially, I also had this problem on one side. I don't know which side is drivers side for you ;) I live in UK, drivers side is on the right for me.. So in my car it started on the passengers side (left), I couldn't find people, who can help, also I didn't want to take my car to ripping off and not professional at all Bristol Audi dealership. I just closed left nosle ;) Then few months later other side started having a problem, and I had to go deeper into this.. Those two electric magnets (or solenoids), valves they don't get stuck simultaneously.. I don't know what it looks like on your A3, but I believe it can be quite likely you have the same problem. At least symptoms are the same, and car make is the same.. Good luck!
WheelsAndMotors Hello!! Nice video!! I have replace my valve with a new one (my god I hate those clips)...but the problem still there...I have cold air only from the passenger side, the pump should work, I can see the fan spinning when the A/C is on...also the pipes close to the valve get cold etc...any advise? I could take it to my garage, but it's kind of fun to try to repair this little issues by yourself :-)...thanks..Matt
tiadrum Hi did u get to the bottom of this? I replaced pump as in video & a week later I have the same problem, heat from the d/s side vent. Thanks. Jason
hereford bull nope :-(...I cleaned the valves, nothing...replaced the whole unite, nothing...took it to my garage and the diagnostic read everything fine...gas pressure etc. ok...they said it could be a dodgy compressor...I decide to wait to repair it (just spent a lot for my holidays lol) and I am regretting it everyday...annoying...the compressor starts, the vent works etc...the pipes close to the magnetic valves get really cold (iced condensation around them)...but no luck...
I have a C6 A6 with the 4.2l V8, Im having issues with the A/C blowing hot reguardless of what the temp is set at. Mechanic said it could be the Evap. Temperature Sensor.... Any help is appreciated !
I don't know much about c7. My current Skoda has no heating on the right side. I know what's wrong. They have electric flap motor that can be accessed from under the dash. When I get to it, I'll make a video. Maybe they do them for Audis as well. Have a look for heater flap moror vw.
idony know if you could reply but im having same problem with my 2007 3.0 tdi allroad , and the problem is that i hear water noise on the tubes from the dashboard and i only get cold air and only when i go above 3000rpm i get heated air , otherwise its always cold air is it thr same unit that i have to clean or replace ?
nice video! i change that pice with a use one...and same problem... i will try to fix the old one and try to see if the problem persist... you have a video, or you can make a video with update the Interface_Box SW Rel ? my audi 2005 has SW Rel C6Std_0130 H15 and i want to update to 0410 four mp3 interface adapter A2DP. Can i do it? ..i ask around and no one knows ! Cheers Darius
Sorry Darius - I changed my car 4 years ago, so can't make new videos about it. Talking of heater control - new (used) unit might be stuck as well. Good cleaning can help, here's a good video about it: ruclips.net/video/BlreVXqA390/видео.html
I don't know much about next generation A6. If you're talking about taking time to warm up in the cold morning, it's pretty normal because heater works of coolant flow
@@wawayltd thanks, also i get randomly when driving dashboard light '' ignition defective'', and sometimes like when put key in car is like dead, should it help if i cut the wire for steering lock as i checked on internet , or it should be something to do with the ignition itself for a6 c6 ? thanks

I am having trouble with my windshield steaming up on the exterior side..ac on in car an its 90+° out side..I hav to have windshield wiper on to keep it clear..an defrost on warm temps....wat's going on with this
I had that problem sometimes, but it wasn't constant.. Try to divert airflow from windscreen? Also in my new car, I had windows steaming when I had faulty compressor - it was on and off, therefore condensate was coming out.
Hi i am getting no heat/air at all, checked fuses, heater blower and resistor and there all ok, any opinions would help, could it be the heater pump as there is a ticking noise coming from it when i switch on the heating
Your heater warms up when your engine coolant warms up. It definitely won't make engine warm up faster :), however if your heater valves sticking in position 'closed', I suppose it may help.
i have issue with my heater. I think i have problem with same thing because when i drive over 2000 rpm that blow nice and warm but when i drive lower than 2000 it blows cold air.
That's strange, my problem didn't depend on rpm.. Anyway, cleaning is not that difficult. On my website (link in description), there's a post and RUclips link to one video, where someone takes valves apart without taking unit out.
Do you mean screenwash? Sorry, I don't have any experience with that yet. I can recommend getting a good workshop manuals software called "Elsawin", have a look on eBay it's worth to have it, if you fix car by yourself..
Hi everyone I think I have to clean my valves too , I just want to know should I bleed the air out of the system when I am done. I saw there is a air bleeding screw on the outlet house. Thank you
I've never done it. Didn't even bleed it after cambelt and water pump replacement. Bubbles should go away naturally. Unless you get air gaps that block coolant circulation and cause heating problems, then you can do something about it, rather than that, I think you shouldn't worry about it.
This is just heating control. If it gets stuck you get full heat on. If AC is not going cold enough it's likely the issue with AC system pressure or compressor. AC recharging garages should be able to diagnose it.
You see, those valves control flow of coolant (90 degrees hot) through heater element, so they are really controlling heating only - the lowest it can get - is outside air temperature. What cools the air - is AC system, and if air coming from the vents is not cooler than air from the outside it's AC issue whichever component failing.
It is a bit different - I believe, you don't have dual zone climate. Also climate control is not automatic. So it would be either switch or valve, which should look something like this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-Audi-Seat-Skoda-Genuine-Coolant-Heater-Control-Valve-4a0819809-/121414509510?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c44de63c6 Unfortunately I don't know how to get to it.. :(
Yes, I suppose so, because this is the unit that controls the air temperature. However, I think it's easier to be stuck in position open (hot) - this is its 'relaxed' position, when system is off, maybe it could stuck in position closed. But also, maybe it's your temperature control button problem... Does it warm up or does it stay cold forever?
I think I found the problem. We had extremely heavy rain, I had to stop few times because I wasn't able to see anything. I got lot of water under and over the car while I was driving through the water and so the water found the way under the hood in the socket between front window and engine. But I still don't know, how did the water heat up in there. everything else fits - flows out on while taking corner or breaking/speeding
I've got couple videos on this channel how to prevent rain water from getting into saloon. Also we have discussion at the website: www.wheelsandmotors.com/show_thread.php?id=66 However, if it's boiling hot, i believe it's a coolant. Is your coolant level dropping?
I have same problem with a4 b7. Climate control works fine until I put it on full heat for a while. After that valve stucks and it blows only hot air. When I stop car for few hours and let everything cool down, valves keep working. But I found that valves located under steering wheel and glowe box. Give me some video for my problem solving
Hi, I have an audi a4 with no heat. Garage has it for 2 weeks with no fix, flusher heater core, replaced water pump etc. Could this be the cause of no heat as well as heat up to the max ??
Hi declan What year is the A4 and does the rad top hose get hot & does the engine temp gauge rise up and stay at 90c or does it stay cool all the tine ?
Temp is fine Bren. Its a 06 B7 A4. In garage now nearly 3 weeks. They sent it out to an Audi mechanic at his home. So far, its been flushed, water pump replaced, flap motors checked, Coolent replaced, coolant lid replaced, water is flowing thru the system fine. There's a small radiator which supplies the heat into the vents behind the dash, I have read that if previous owners have not looked after the car that well, this can become corroded and full of rust causing poor hot coolent flow. Yer man is replacing this. :-(
Ah just packing for 4 days in malaga yippeeeer. Hows everything with you not working too hard i hope 😊😊😊. Hows that car pf your getting on any heat at all ??
As far as I know seats are heated electrically. It would take a while to get seat to warm up while starting car on a cold day and waiting for coolant to warm up :)
+Guillermo Cruz If it doesn't blow the air - something must be wrong with the blower motor, if it's not the fuse, here's the video about it: ruclips.net/video/D81_DI667NA/видео.html
+Guillermo Cruz Fuses are different in left and right hand drive cars. In my manual it points somewhere in the left side of dash panel. Anyway, because there is a fuse for AC controls ,too, I would recommend to check all fuses. There are only 3 places for them - both sides of dash panel + compartment in the boot. However more likely it will be blower motor itself, still worth checking fuses...
Normally with a time those bubbles come out. At least in my experience, after this or cambelt/water pump change - after a bit of driving air comes out, coolant level drops.. If not, there are some bleeding points, (don't remember where exactly, I don't have that car for about 5 years), but you also have to apply pressure to the system. I just never needed to do it.
HI, great videos by the way! I have a quick question. I have an A6 saloon 2010. There is no hot or cold air being blown into the car from the vents when i turn up the fan control. All electrical switches work fine, heated seats, heated rear windscreen. Only the air blower button is not responding. The button itself does respond on the readout and display. Would this be an issue with just the blower unit or something else also?
Hi, i have audi a6 c6 07 2.0tdi the heating working, when im pressing aircon button, all setting on MMI working except fan speed. No cold air no hot air, just seems like outside air.Shuld this steps help me? Compressor got gas and pressure.
If you can control temperature, but you can't go lower than temperature from outside - more likely you have a problem with compressor, even if AC system has gas. Can you hear it engaging and disengaging?
Once I had same problem - no horn and no steering wheel controls. I had to take middle bit with airbag out and I discovered that wires that power steering wheel electrics were jammed and had bad connection. I put it right and it all started working.
@@jas197 As far as i know flaps control air volume, but those valves coolant flow through heater matrix and therefore temperature. If cleaning doesn't help... I don't know.. It helped me. Faulty valve maybe?
Just made a clip of how I serviced mine and have a link. Hope this helps someone and saves them some money. Thanks to wheelsandmotors for his video to show me where the problem was. ruclips.net/video/BlreVXqA390/видео.html
Very interesting video , I hope you are still active lol . However my Audi 07 a6 is blowing out hot air , no ac what so ever . Would this work for me ?
Yeah, I'm still alive :)) If your actual AC isn't working then there could be problem with AC, but if it's blowing hot air only - more likely those valves are stuck. Have a look in this video description, there are few useful links how to sort it out. One guy even posted a video ho to clean them without taking whole unit out.
My 2009 Audi A6 originally was not blowing cold air with aircon on but now the fan isn't blowing at all through the vents (maybe ever so slightly) if I turn the heat up I can feel the air getting hotter just won't blow strongly. Any ideas?
Paul Malone oh yes. I had exactly same problem, before I discovered that pollen filter needs to be replaced. If AC doesn't cool the air - that can be another story. But blower barely blowing - 99% clogged up filter.
Hey. I like your video a lot. I have kind of the same problem, only mine is blowing COLD air all the time in one side. Is this the fix for my issue? I wouldnt mind not having to replace the entire unit :)
It's worth trying to clean it first. By the way, to do so - you don't have to take whole unit out. Check this link: wheelsandmotors.com/show_solution.php?id=4
Hello guys, I have an Audi A6 4F2 and i have problems with my radiator fans. The small one doesnt work and the big one runs in 2nd gear or something (runs too fast and loud)....If anyone know what is the problem pls answer. P.S. i checked the small one at a 12 v battery and works but at the car doesnt run.
What I know about these fans, that they don't run at constant speed. Depending on condition computer turns them on and off. Regarding the noisy one, maybe it's too loud because it's gear wearing off.. But these are only assumptions, I can only recommend to show it to mechanic, if concerned.
@@wawayltd good day i cleaned out my hvac unit and had my ac regassed... however the passenger side vent still blows hot air... what can i do next as another option to fix this problem?

Michal Olesiak You're welcome :) Thank you for nice words :)

Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to do this. I'm sincerely grateful. Just used the quick method.
You're very welcome :)

Oh yes. At least for me. Things do wear out, but it is way more simple to fix. 322.000 miles on a clock already.
Hi Guys,
Once you get this apart what would you recommend cleaning it with?
It is easy peasy :)
Sometimes, if you are swapping with second-hand unit, it also can be stuck, as it's a common problem. Cleaning helps.
You are great 👍 and I am thankful for such good job you did!!!

Thanks for these videos. They have saved me $$$$ on my '06 A6 4.2. One question I have on this is the fluid. I don't see any mention of refilling the fluid that leaks out when replacing the unit. Is there a need for this or is it just then normal engine coolant?
It's just a normal engine coolant. Sometimes there's even no need to take whole unit out, check this video:
ruclips.net/video/BlreVXqA390/видео.html
Same problem I'm having!!! Ty
You're welcome Jimmy, hope it helps 👍
Unless you are perfectionist and want to clean everything ;)
Shame I forgot to take photos or video.. next time maybe..
By the way, if you look bellow, there is a comment 5 months ago from someone called Rod - he has done the same.
WheelsAndMotors Well, sorry, I haven't gone through all the comments, thanks for your reply!
Will i see this on fault codes if one of those valves are stuck?
No. It took me time to figure out what was wrong.
I just broke a bolt when I tried to put it back. Do you think there is a problem if the system works without a bolt? Thanks!

Good job but if the AC screen and buttons function but no cold air is the same?
If it's not on full heat all the time, but just not cooling down the air, if lowest you can get is outside temperature - then there's a problem with AC system, more likely compressor.
Hi there I have the same problem only its blowing out cold are even at full temp !

Hi
Great video thanks, do you think this unit would cause the "01592 - Air Quality Sensor (G238)" fault on a Q7 ?

Sorry Yasir, I don't have experience with air quality sensor.. Not sure what can cause that fault.
mY 2014 A4 all road is acting strange sometimes the heat barley works and then nothing.

Hi
I want to ask you a question.

Ac is blowing only hot air
And the radiator fan not coming ON when AC is on.
What can you recommend
Thanks
Hi Ali. Radiator fan normally has mind of its own, I don't know when they come on and off, maybe it's just me though :)
As for temperature regulator - do you have it automatic, where you set certain temperature in degrees or manual one where you make warmer or cooler by yourself?
I just closed left nosle ;)
Then few months later other side started having a problem, and I had to go deeper into this..
Those two electric magnets (or solenoids), valves they don't get stuck simultaneously..
I don't know what it looks like on your A3, but I believe it can be quite likely you have the same problem. At least symptoms are the same, and car make is the same..
Good luck!

hereford bull nope :-(...I cleaned the valves, nothing...replaced the whole unite, nothing...took it to my garage and the diagnostic read everything fine...gas pressure etc. ok...they said it could be a dodgy compressor...I decide to wait to repair it (just spent a lot for my holidays lol) and I am regretting it everyday...annoying...the compressor starts, the vent works etc...the pipes close to the magnetic valves get really cold (iced condensation around them)...but no luck...
I have a C6 A6 with the 4.2l V8, Im having issues with the A/C blowing hot reguardless of what the temp is set at. Mechanic said it could be the Evap. Temperature Sensor.... Any help is appreciated !
Joshua.Kwon Hi, did you try to clean this heating control valve?
I have a a6 c7 -2016 with no heat coming out. Engine temp is normal. Can it be this kind of unit failing for me as well?
I don't know much about c7. My current Skoda has no heating on the right side. I know what's wrong. They have electric flap motor that can be accessed from under the dash. When I get to it, I'll make a video. Maybe they do them for Audis as well. Have a look for heater flap moror vw.

I don't know much about next generation A6. If you're talking about taking time to warm up in the cold morning, it's pretty normal because heater works of coolant flow
There's also auxiliary heater, but it's that reliable in VAGs. However, I don't know much about C7 A6.

+Mark Robinson its a Audi A6 C6 2005 2ltr saloon
+Mark Robinson If the air is not blowing, I think likely there's a problem with blower motor or its control unit.
defo not blower motor, i connected it to a 12 volt battery and it runs fine, what do you mean control unit??
+Mark Robinson By control unit I mean the one in this video - ruclips.net/video/D81_DI667NA/видео.html (Look at 7:47) Could be something else..
Right isn't the control unit there to control the speed, wouldn't the blower still spin even with a bad control unit
Does it help the heater to warm up more quickly in winter ?
Your heater warms up when your engine coolant warms up. It definitely won't make engine warm up faster :), however if your heater valves sticking in position 'closed', I suppose it may help.
i have issue with my heater. I think i have problem with same thing because when i drive over 2000 rpm that blow nice and warm but when i drive lower than 2000 it blows cold air.
That's strange, my problem didn't depend on rpm.. Anyway, cleaning is not that difficult. On my website (link in description), there's a post and RUclips link to one video, where someone takes valves apart without taking unit out.

Hi everyone
I think I have to clean my valves too , I just want to know should I bleed the air out of the system when I am done.
Does this problem also affects AC not doing cold enough? Or just heat?
This is just heating control. If it gets stuck you get full heat on. If AC is not going cold enough it's likely the issue with AC system pressure or compressor. AC recharging garages should be able to diagnose it.
You see, those valves control flow of coolant (90 degrees hot) through heater element, so they are really controlling heating only - the lowest it can get - is outside air temperature. What cools the air - is AC system, and if air coming from the vents is not cooler than air from the outside it's AC issue whichever component failing.
Hi
Im having the same problem on my audi a3 8L blows only hot air! Is fix the same for my car any thoughts?
It is a bit different - I believe, you don't have dual zone climate. Also climate control is not automatic. So it would be either switch or valve, which should look something like this:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-Audi-Seat-Skoda-Genuine-Coolant-Heater-Control-Valve-4a0819809-/121414509510?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c44de63c6
Unfortunately I don't know how to get to it.. :(
WheelsAndMotors thanks alot will check it out.
Hello i have nearly the same problem just on reverse its blowing on driver side just cold air is that could be the same problem?
Yes, I suppose so, because this is the unit that controls the air temperature. However, I think it's easier to be stuck in position open (hot) - this is its 'relaxed' position, when system is off, maybe it could stuck in position closed. But also, maybe it's your temperature control button problem...
Does it warm up or does it stay cold forever?
WheelsAndMotors if i turn the fan on low speed its start be a little warm but not the same as passenger side.
@@sapioras I have the same problem. Have you repaired your air conditioner
I have a problem. There was coming boiling water from my climate system (Audi A6 Avant 2001), what could be the problem?
Looks like you have a leak in coolant system (heater).
Also we have discussion at the website:
www.wheelsandmotors.com/show_thread.php?id=66
However, if it's boiling hot, i believe it's a coolant.
Is your coolant level dropping?
I have same problem with a4 b7. Climate control works fine until I put it on full heat for a while. After that valve stucks and it blows only hot air. Hi, I have an audi a4 with no heat. Garage has it for 2 weeks with no fix, flusher heater core, replaced water pump etc. Could this be the cause of no heat as well as heat up to the max ??
I suppose it could, is it's stuck in position 'closed' instead of 'open'. Is your heater valve same as A6?
Hi declan What year is the A4 and does the rad top hose get hot & does the engine temp gauge rise up and stay at 90c or does it stay cool all the tine ?
Hey Bren... WASSSUPP !!!!!
Does this control heated seats also ? my heated seats don't come on b7 audi a4

I have a 2010 Audi A6. My AC/Heat fuse keeps blowing and I have hot air coming from my vents even though my system has no power. Help!!!!
gymgm Did you try to clean those valves?
I have a 2003 A6 2.7T. The a/c doesn't blow air at all? What could be the problem with this??
+Guillermo Cruz If it doesn't blow the air - something must be wrong with the blower motor, if it's not the fuse, here's the video about it:
ruclips.net/video/D81_DI667NA/видео.html
+WheelsAndMotors I don't have the Manuel to the car. Where can I find out which fuse is which
+Guillermo Cruz Fuses are different in left and right hand drive cars. In my manual it points somewhere in the left side of dash panel. Anyway, because there is a fuse for AC controls ,too, I would recommend to check all fuses. There are only 3 places for them - both sides of dash panel + compartment in the boot. However more likely it will be blower motor itself, still worth checking fuses...
also you can just take off two of that pipes clean it inside and put back on :)
You mean two solenoids? Yes, in video description I have link to another video, where some guy made it, and it's so much easier.
exactly
How do you bleed the system?
I've got air in mine.
Do I understand that right - when you put AC on, you can't control fan speed... and the temperature?
No,basically i haven't cold air, except cold air blowing air from outside.
If you can control temperature, but you can't go lower than temperature from outside - more likely you have a problem with compressor, even if AC system has gas. Can you hear it engaging and disengaging?
yes i heard click sound under bonnet when pressings button AC
also tachometer arrow not moving when i press AC
I'm looking for info on repairing rear defrost and/or a/c cuz I don't get cold air and glad is fogging 🤘⚽✌
I don't have experience with rear defrost, but have a video about AC compressor..
on audi 05 lost horn and steering wheels control, change e relay and clock spring but did not solve problem
Once I had same problem - no horn and no steering wheel controls. I had to take middle bit with airbag out and I discovered that wires that power steering wheel electrics were jammed and had bad connection. I put it right and it all started working.
I have a problems with my heating, left side blows cold and right side hot as set to blow hot, can it be the same problem or?

Paul Malone oh yes. I had exactly same problem, before I discovered that pollen filter needs to be replaced. If AC doesn't cool the air - that can be another story. But blower barely blowing - 99% clogged up filter.
WheelsAndMotors cool thanks I'll try that 👍🏻
Changed pollen filter and still the same unfortunately. Garage saying it's fan motor as they got it to work for a few mins but it stopped again.
Where do I get the part I need done to my a8l
Dealership, or independent VW shop, breakers yards or eBay.
the 4.4 is a different set up, the compressor is facing the cabin, theres isnt a belt,
Wow.. How does it spin? electric motor?
Check this link:

Can you please tell me where the ac compressor relay is located for Audi a4 quattro with turbo 1.8 liter 2002 model
How i change the fog lights on 06 audi wagon a6

I still have same problem
If it's not cleaned properly, it may still be sticking. Also with my first valve cleaning didn't help - I had to get another one.
@@wawayltd good day i cleaned out my hvac unit and had my ac regassed... however the passenger side vent still blows hot air... what can i do next as another option to fix this problem?
If good cleaning doesn't help, you may need new (or second hand in working order) unit.
2004 to 2008...heh but nevermind the producers official data
Alright. Thanks 😉👍
I think in UK they started with 54 plate earliest.. Which is nearly 2005..
