    Not entirely sure how your point on the league going from 4+ goals a game to around 3 now makes Gretzky goals more impressive than Ovis. That point is just horribly talked about and it actually quite the opposite as it was exponentially easier for Gretzky to score back then, both in goalie skill and goalie pad sizing.

      Agreed, it was an honest mistake. Another viewer mentioned the same to me. Thanks for the heads up tho.

    What’s your prediction? When do you think Ovechkin will break Gretzky’s goal record?

      @mihailrf7139 2 дня назад +1

      What are you saying? If average goals scored in time of Gretzky was more than in time of Ovechkin, then it means that Ovechkin's number of goals is more impressive. Because it is harder in times of Ovechkin to score. Not the other way around.

      @@mihailrf7139 Yes, Sorry for the confusion. Ovechkin is going to beat the record with less games played than Gretzky.

      @EngageGrow No problem. It's just caught my attention, and I felt the need to clarify it.

    AI getting crazy. I don't mind if the content is good, but I wouldn't want to see actual creators be out-spammed by AI channels

      @ Video is good, the AI hosts are really convincing. I just personally would not want to see a lot of channel like this pop up, because human content creators wouldn’t be able to compete with the output. No hate towards you, keep your grind up 👍

    He well never get close to 99s total stack of records, sure he might get one, but let's check the goals per season played. Ovechkin is just a dinosaur chasing a bone when 99 got the whole prey

      This is true but it is still an impressive accomplishment that ovechkin is about to get.

      Why do people keep bringing up that sort of thing? "oh what about assists" and stuff like that.
      Nobody is comparing that. It is simply about the goal record, which is a very important and impactful record in the sport. And I don't understand why there's the need to compare, or why every appraisal of him is viewed by some people as tarnishing Wayne Gretzky's legacy in some way.
      Alexander Ovechkin is the greatest goal scorer in NHL history. Nobody else can do what he does.

      @@quasimoto7662 You're absolutely right! Ovechkin's ability to score goals is unmatched, and that's what makes this record so special. Whether you're a fan of Ovi or not every hockey lover should appreciate the incredible feat he's accomplishing. Do you think Ovechkin will surpass Gretzky’s record this season or do you think it’ll take one more year?

  • @bradgavel9991
    @bradgavel9991 День назад +1

    Simple answer....no. he will have to play 1 or 2 more seasons at the pace he's at now and the fact the caps are actually playing like a team, and not a bunch of guys trying to get Ovi his goals. He probably should retire at tje end of this year or next, regardless if he's broken the record or not. No one wants to see a superstar of that caliber stick around too long and stain his career like that, or be a Ray Bourque who stuck around 240+ more games than he should have just to be ahead of Coffey all-time...no respect from me for that personally. Fedorov could have easily stuck around 1 more season and been the first Russian to reach 500 goals, but he knew he was done and didn't feel the need to overstay his welcome into his early 40's just to achieve an accolade.

    • @EngageGrow
      @EngageGrow  День назад +1

      If he stays healthy and keeps playing for 1-2 more years, I can see him hitting that mark-especially if the Caps remain competitive. But I agree, it’s a fine line. There's a risk of overstaying his welcome, and no one wants to see a legend tarnish their legacy. If he gets close I think he’ll push for it but he’ll have to make that call when the time is right.

    • @quasimoto7662
      @quasimoto7662 День назад +1

      That's pretty weak if you ask me. The guy is close enough, being 25 goals away from breaking the record, that there is a true shot that he can grab the record this year if he keeps to his historic pace of about 0.60 goals per game. Unlikely, but not outright impossible. Based on the numbers it wouldn't be shocking if he can achieve it in the last game or last few games of the season.
      Yet you're suggesting the idea "oh he should retire soon even if he doesn't have it"? Why is this even a discussion. Guy not only clearly still has it, but he's close enough away that any discussion of NHL retirement is completely off the table if he's close enough. Plus, this caps team is clearly good enough to be a potential contender, if he feels there's a chance for another cup why would he leave?
      Also, saying "ray bourque stained his career to be ahead of coffey" has to be the most braindead thing I've ever heard. The man stuck around as long as he did to win a cup, and of anything in his very long and fruitful career it's "after 22 years, Raymond Bourque" that people remember the most. Outright stupidity.

    • @bradgavel9991
      @bradgavel9991 День назад +1

      @@quasimoto7662 These are your opinions fella, you are quite obviously a Bourque super fan, so I won't argue with you that it wasn't just to land a "cup" that he stuck around and if you're saying no one remembers Paul Coffey, that is the most idiotic take ever!
      Last year and even the year before there were tons of people talking about should Crosby retire...and he's a way better player at this stage of their careers and age than Ovi is, so why not have that conversation about Ovi?? Ovi is one of my favorite players of all time, so I'm not here trying to crap on him, I'm just saying I don't think he will make it this year is all. Lastly, and I know you'll love this one, Paul Coffey was way better than Bourque, faster, offensively superior by far, and equally as good defensively. If Coffey had decided to stick around past his time looking for a cup or to insure he beat someone else's totals I'd say the same thing about him. You can say he didn't because he already had his cups, but he retired when he seen the decline happening instead, like a player should. I don't want to see Ovi finish his career on a 22 goal 40 point season either where he looks like a shell of himself just to beat a record...who does? Fedorov was one of my favorite players, I wanted him to hit that 500 goal mark badly, and he'd have only needed to play 20-25 more games to hit it, but I respected him even more for retiring when he felt it was time...I'd like to be able to say that about Ovi too, regardless if he breaks the goal record or not.

      @@quasimoto7662 Very well said with some good strong opinions. With all of this being said, how long do you realistically see Ovechkin playing? Are you a Caps fan?

    • @quasimoto7662
      @quasimoto7662 День назад

      @@bradgavel9991 I am a caps fan to clarify.
      But, I wasn't discrediting Paul Coffey's achievements, so I don't understand why you went into this. I'm just saying nobody really remembers any Bourque vs Coffey thing and I don't think anybody cares that he was over the hill for a few years because he accomplished something: he won a cup.
      A similar thing would happen to Ovechkin: breaking one of if not the most coveted record in hockey.
      i think it's silly to trivialize a player's career or accomplishments for the little bit of their twilight where maybe they're not the best, and you can't predict that. Like Ovi this year has 17 goals in 20 games or something, he clearly hasn't reached that stage this year, he's not at the end of his rope.
      is it really going to ruin Ovi's career if he's say 7 goals short and has a 25 goal season next year? Heck no. It's still important, it's still impactful, and he's had a good enough career where he's more than earned the benefit of the doubt.
