Daniel shows you how to do proper shrimp tempura at home. There are two key variables: the oil temperature and tempura flakes. Let me walk you through each of these steps. Have fun with it at home and thank me later ;)

You blew my mind when I saw you pour in the batter for the flakes
ME TOO! I have NEVER seen it done this way! AWESOME!! Can't wait to try!
RUclips has tempura videos from masters. Fry with cottonseed oil and sesame oil 1:10. Also.... add a pinch of salt and sugar to season the shrimp. A little goes a long way.
Literally 😂
What I like about a video like this is that it finally answers my question of how much oil I should be using. Most recipes seem to say "3 inches of oil" or around that mark for a deep-fry effect, but you've shown that you don't really need that tremendous an amount.
We'll see how my dinner ends up like tonight.
Edit: Looks like I had some difficulties. It took me awhile to get the hang of the 'flecks' method, and I feel like my batter had been way too thin; I wasn't getting anything on the shrimp (and my veggies) until, in a panic, I thickened the batter with extra flour. I also felt like I had to turn up the heat in order to get it to cook properly, instead of turning it down. It wasn't until I was halfway through my shrimp supply that I'd re-watched the video, and saw how significant it was to 'gather' the flecks and lay the food on top of it. Food was coming out much better towards the end when I realized this.
Did this recipe for the first time, and it turned out so well! I love how the crunch stays even after I cooked it hours ago!
Fried shrimp is one of the best delacasies a human can have
Amen to that!
LoudAndOne delicacies
Have you ever been to McDonalds?
I like fried garlic shrimps. Tamura, I stay away from. The flour absorb to many oil.
Sucks that im allergic
Thankyou! I literally shouted in joy when you showed how to make it flaky, with that initial drop of batter. Thankyou!
Hi i dont know ur name..but i tried ur recipe ..its truly amazing and most delicious i found. Thanks for making simplest & yummiest. God bless you.
Greetings Saida :) Thanks for the words ... And a warm welcome to the neighborhood! 😄
Future Neighbor is it necessary to pinch the shrimp? I’m just asking :)
He seen it on eddy's kitchen
@@bogdanrusu3669 As someone who made this last night I don't think it would be essential, but it does allow for an even cook and stops the shrimp curling, which makes it easier to eat/present.
When I pinched them it almost feels like cracking a knuckle in your finger so it's quite easy to do, although very fiddly considering all the prep work that shell on prawns require!
Of all the video instructions I have seen so far, your trick of frying the batter first to wrap around the prawns produces the best looking tempura in my book. Thank you !
Nice video! Concise but descriptive, and I like the summary of the entire process at the beginning.
Thanks Morgan ;) We are still learning with every video!
Best thing in existence. I adore this stuff, and it’s literally my favorite food.
Thank you so much for your cooking recipe and method. It worked. My kids are their friends really love it and they asked for second serving. Not only that they decide to stay for dinner as well when I told them I’m serving the same dish. Thank you so much...
This is the technique I've been looking for . Thanks for sharing.
All my husband wants for his birthday is tempura... so I've been looking at recepis and how to make tempura and all other videos are so extra, and just overwhelming but yours! You have made it seem easy and do able. Thank you!
Be gentle with him, nobody remember my birthday, make him happy with tempura.

Love how you made the instructions very clear! Thank you!
Thank you for the clear explaining.
use high heat so it doesnt soak too much oil. put the shrimp in the batter, pour some into the oil stir it with chopstic and immediately fry the shrimp.
Yes, I will try to make it today and thank you for the video. Great job, like the background music too.
Great timing! I just bought shrimp at my local Korean market.

When your body hates you and decides to develop a shrimp allergy after you’ve been eating shrimp most of your life
You can use different flesh to make tempura
God only talks in irony.
Me with flour. I love dumplings, cake etc. But my body now have gluten allergy 😭 so I have to buy more expensive stuff
@@Splatterpunk_OldNewYork god is an illusion shit just happens to good people

Always looking for a good tempura recipe
Your looks great can't wait to try it 👍
Also that would be great for crunchy rolls
Thanks Ted! I think you will enjoy dropping in the batter... makes a nice sizzzzle 🤤
I have watched several videos of shrimp tempura. Yours is very very interesting. Adding the batter to the oil then frying it onto the shrimps is a unique idea. I will be trying it. I've had trouble with the frying oil washing the wet batter off the shrimp when emerged in the oil. This looks like it will take care of that problem. Thanks😊
Dope ! Thanks for sharing !
You made it look sooo easy. mine doesn't look like that flaky stuff but its good! thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Looks delicious ima make it today!
Excellent !
Thank you it’s delicious I just made this now
Looks delicious 😋 thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Wow....delicious.... thanks for share
VERY INTERESTING. FIRST TIME SEEING TEMPURA BATTER LIKE THIS
Yes, I was quite intrigued the first time I saw it as well. The tempura flakes stays sticky (even as it is frying in the oil) so it it easy to wrap around things. Well, hope you get a chance to make it home :D
So I made this last night and it was fantastic! I used Panko breadcrumbs on half of them which made them even crunchier (the crunchier the better in my opinion).
Next time I do them I'm going to add a few spices to perk up the batter and maybe marinade the prawns in some soy sauce or something for a bit beforehand. I will definitely be cooking this more!
This looks amazing
Thank you for this video I’m starting to make Japanese food and going to try to make this for me and my friend one day I want to learn Japanese and go to Tokyo thankz
Wow, not mixing the clumps and cooking the flakes first and putting the shrimp on top of the flakes. O-M-G! You are incredible - thank you!
Simple and well explained! Will try it out! Thank you! ^_^
Wow, I didn't realize that the shrimp were so ligamenty. And this looks amazing.
I love this recipe especially the idea of pouring some batter in for the flakes. That was genius. I would put some club soda or some form of carbonation into the batter though because it makes it even lighter.
when watching this.. all I say is ahhh... ahhh.... ahhh.. i am amaze I am really leaning from you.. thanks you
Thanks for your very useful tutorial! I’m gonna make shrimp tempura for nabeyaki udon. Makes sense to flour the shrimp first before dipping them in batter. Last time I tried to make tempura, the batter didn’t stick onto the shrimp.
Wow just like the restaurants! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this. .most recipe videos uses tempura flour which something not available in our town
Thanks, bro - great video
Going to try this tonight looks DELICIOUS
Before I’ll even make this~, I thank you! 💜😂
Looks really good! One thing that I've seen a lot of folks making tempura batter do is use sparkling water to make the batter extra light.
I'd never thought about precooking some batter and rolling the shrimp around in it! That's a really good way to get layers of crisp.
Yea, the place I used to visit in Tokyo... the guy would actually use his bare hands to roll the shrimp around the flakes in the oil. I still havent figured out how he does that.. but good tip with the sparkling water. I will try that out. Thanks Nick ;)
Absolutely EXCELLENT video. Thanks so much. No need to add spices because the shrimp has its flavor all its own. Domay Arigato. Please please make another video on making Nigiri sushi (maguro, sake, ebi, hirami, and hamachi)
That is soooo easy and very tasty thanks for that easy video
Hello Future Neighbor you make great Tempura that it looks very delicious (^ ^!

I love your intro, and the recipe!
This is the first time I've seen tempura done! I learned so much and it looks so damn yummy!! Aaaaaaaaah ~
Yes! It's a good technique to learn. But maybe require a few tries to perfect :)
Came back to watch again. Though my shrimp was very tasty, it didn't quite turn out like yours. So I will by trying it again, but in a nonstick skillet this time. What I should have done in the first place. So I will continue to come back and watch this very informative video whenever I need to.
looks awesomely appetizing, daniel, enjoy!
Thanks clingman! Book tickets to Seoul yet :D

We just tried this recipe. Ours didn't turn out quite as pretty as yours, but pretty close. They were delicious though. Added a little more salt to the batter then fried some thinly sliced squash. They were great too. Thanks for the recipe. This is how we will be cooking our shrimp from now on.
I couldn't thankyou enough!! Thankyou for sharing and greatly appreciated. )))
