One of the best TV repair videos I've seen. Thank you
Its a pleasure to see a brother being involved in this field,Electronics Repairs i am 62+ years of age and am from South America ,the Caribbean , had studied with NTS of Los Angeles California in the early 1980,s whereby the school was defunct before i could have completed my studies, nevertheless i am still involved in repairs after a few years of absence in the field and the sudden change from Analog to Digital/TV,s,,respect brother and keep up the good works God Bless.
Yes, I did learn something. Your main board voltages, bottom voltages and test points, shorts. T con board, get the board. Saves a lot of hastle, time conumption. Great job man. Good work.
No problem. Thanks for watching Larry.
This guy has a great sense of humor. Thanks for the video!
Thanks. Sir, you are probably if not the best at carefully and meticulously explaining this to pros and amateurs.May God bless you and keep you strong.
Same to you my brotha. Thanks!
Thanks for this just fixed my TV using your testing procedure checking for voltages etc. Great video
Two things. If in PSU you wanna just swap the fuse, and not risk blowing it back again, you should connect it through the bulb. If short will be still there, the bulb will light up, if not short, a small blink will be seen and PSU will wake up, or, at least you can continue your diagnoses without worrying from now on.
2nd thing is that we should not just short capacitors IMHO. We should use something like a 3.3k ohm resistor to do it. Why is better? Google can answer if you're interested :). Yes, will be no spars, that's a good guess ;).
And, thank you for the video, as always, good job!
In series? With a filament bulb or the common type bulb?
@@sammygimnyigei filament, but keep the watts right
Just used your video as a "guide line" on my 65 inch 4k. voltage didn't match output but input matched just as you said. Thank you for the flow chart/love lol!
Thanks for watching Patrick!
thank you for sharing this knowledge. currently trying to fix my television and this was very helpful.
Great video man! Don't worry about trying to produce a professional video so much or that you need a remote control camera. You have a great way of teaching and excellent logic and that is all many of us want to watch.
Sorry I didnt see ur comment 2 months ago; LOL. But I greatly appreciate the excellent advice Spark. Thank U sir!
Just wanted to say thanks for this. Had a 60 inch Samsung that had no display but had sound. Watched this and ordered a T-con board replacement for it and its working like new. thank you so much!

No problem Sean.
Thanks for your advice bigdog. I had a blank screen and did your checks on the t-con board and was faulty. Bought a new one for £40 and problem solved. Saved me about £300 for a new tv👍🏻.
Glad I could help out. Appreciate U watching.

You truly are the Big Dog!
Great teaching video. I learn every time I watch one.
Subscribed. You had me when you said what T-con meant...! Very informative fuse checking info. I'm just learning for fun of it. Thanks.
It means timing controller
The T-con board was always a mystery to me but after seeing your video I am more confident now
I found it very useful. I have a TV with no picture and no backlight. Now I will follow your instructions to find the problem that I think it is the T con board.
I have an LG E480i-B2 that I'm ready to diagnose now after watching your video on the 40 inch model. I feel positive about the outcome because you're an awesome educator - I've learned a lot about LED TV from you and look forward to even more. I'll post my result on my 480. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your knowledge! God bless.
thank you sir that is very informative for us for a country like phillippines;who is poor in technology.god bless

See Your Skills Come From Back In The Day, When Learning The Trade Didn't Come Easy, I Watch A Lot Of Your Video's Cause At The End Of Day, You Know You Didn't Waste Your Time, Thank You So Much For Your Helping Hand, Look Forward To Your Up And Coming Video's, Peace Out You've Been Blessed .
Big Dog, I've fixed loads of tv's, mostly PSU faults, capacitors, diodes, fuses E.T.C. I got a Samsung UE55KU6000K in the last few days, turns on, with sound and backlights, but no picture. I have never had this issue before.. Normally completely dead or no backlights. This will really help me to determine whether its the main board (no TCON board on this model) or the lcd panel, too tired tonight but I'll test the voltages on the output to the screen tomorrow, thank you so much!
Your videos are of great content thank you for your time and effort.
Brilliant information here! Not just checking TV's but circuit boards in general!
A very special thanks for your time and excellent video, it is an invaluable contribution, thank you very much
I have a UN60Es8000 that has the same sound and backlight but no picture. I tried unplugging each of the 4 ribbon cables to the T Con board trying each by them selves, in pairs etc and I never got a picture. The T Con was receiving 12V and the fuse was good. I tested all of the output pins on the ribbon and one row all got 1.4V and the other 0.9V. On a whim, I replaced the T Con and ... It WORKED!!!. Save me from buying a +/- $4K QD-OLED. Thank you for posting your videos and giving me ways to check my TV. We still do 3D movie night and so this saved us from dropping that family event.
Great job. Just getting into TV repair. Subscribed 👍😎🤠
Because of this video, I happen to notice my T CONN board was on FIRE. I did find a fire extinguisher and put it... THANKS BIGDOG !!!!!

Great video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
well done, easy to follow as you went along. Just wanted to say I also have a scope that I found on ebay for $75 then you can see the signals at the T-con board. But you showed an easy way of doing it with a DMM.
Thanks Bro, That would be a Good video too.
Thanks big dog. Helped a lot.
Thanks for the help. Had half screen gray and black with audio on a LG 75". After closely looking at the T-Con board notice the bottom right ribbon connector was not latched properly. I simply pressed the ribbon latch back on, then plugged the TV in and turned on and bam it was back!
Cheers for the video. Was getting good input but max 200ma output.
Just ordered a new board. Thanks.
Great video. For technicians like me who think we know a lot. It makes you come down from your cloud. I'll go see the Norcal video. Thank you very much for sharing.

You are the first so far to kinda show testing the t con board. Now I'm at the step where my tv is working but the big chip on there is getting extremely hot. You didn't explain that more I'd like to know... and one know because I have sound and light but no actual picture
I am from Suriname /thumbs up for this video
Great Video. T-Conn board fixed my Samsung 60" led tv.
Brad where did you purchase the part ?
great video! thanks for taking the time to do these videos
I was a TV technician back in the days of CRT TV but LCD I have trouble figuring it out. So thanks for explaining things. By the way you did not have to show us actual meter reading it’s good enough you utter what the reading is we trust you. It is more helpful to show us where you are touching the probe
Very well done video on T Con troubleshooting. Thanks for making this.

Hi BigDog
Just wondering my friend, Are the tv screens (40”) and the inner connections the SAME between the “Samsung UE40MU6100KX” and the “Samsung UE40F5500AK” for a change over?..
Many thanks and blessings to you brother.
Great job bigdog!
Very good video learnt a lot , keep posting the videos please
Now that, was bloody helpful. id buy you a beer for that if i was in the same country.
Excellent Video. Best on RUclips.
Thanks, appreciate that.
Hey bigdog I'm a fan of your videos. I have a TV that power's on the back light flashes then shuts off.
Thanks for showing how to test everything before buying parts.
Thank you for posting these videos, I really appreciate it sir. 👍😉
thanks for the great video!
Nice informative vedio learn from it thank you very much
To find a short. With a good PS inject a volt or two into the short. Use a IR camera and find the hot spot which will be a bad semiconductor or cap. Keep current low. You can spray the board with cold frost spray and the shorted hot area will melt fast. Pick up a cheap IR camera on eBay and hook it to your PC. If you can't find the short turn up current to 5 amps and if no short found go higher. Keep voltage way below the circuit voltage that is usually there.
nice explained.....i learned a lot....i have 2 samsung tvs lined up for the garbage ....maybe ill try to test them to se if one get repaired,,,hope so....thanks...
Grateful for your work!
nice video bigdog..very informative...one thing i want to ask..regarding the TCON that you tested on the last part of the video with the power supply...you test the fuse for short...what if the short to ground is from the other side (in the input if may i say)..is that means the short is on the motherboard...or when the safe time to replace the fuse of the tcon in order not to blew up the motherboard. i hope you understand..thank you very much..God Bless..
Just unplug the Mother (mainboard) and recheck to see if the short goes away. Easy
Great video Big dog I have ordereda Tcon board today. ☺
you are grate trainer, Thank you very much. good job.
Might just be a poorly seated cable! I have a Samsung LN04051D. Got backlight. Hooked up a DVD player w/DVD for sound test; cycle through source til heard DVD. Checked for burned caps, etc. Disconnected and re-connected the tcon cable and voila! Works now! Yippie I got TV.
I suggest people start first with re-seating cables!
Checked fuses first too.
Thanks!
Thanks for your time and help
Hello! My fuse on the tcon reads 0.15 in the meter ( followed your test). It's not Dead zero yet not too significant number. I'm unsure whether the fuse is the problem or not. Thanks for any help!
God bless you Sir i like this electronic repairs videos
Very informative, thanks for the info, keep up the good work
Great video Bigdog8882! -I've acquired an LG that turns on fine, the screen lights up bright white like there's no problem with the back lighting, but it's making an electrical buzzing/sizzling sound...but not smoking or anything like that. It won't display the menu or any of the features, just the white screen. Do have any input or suggestions for troubleshooting this particular issue? It's a nice big TV my buddy was gonna just throw in the trash...I've never repaired an TV, but I'm pretty good at this kind of thing, and not afraid to jump right in to it. It would sure be nice to resurrect this puppy for cheap and I'd be one proud cat to have fixed it myself too....Thanks!
I had half good and half bad screen, so i put off the ribbon cable (side on bad screen) beetwen tcon and lcd panel, clean it with rubber before put it on. Unfortunately, the ribbon cable got burn (two pin of 30 pin) leave with black screen both side screen but audio and blacklight on. Where do you think the problem been spread, tcon or bad panel ? Thank you for your sharing with intuitive style
i llike your teaching
Thanks U! Happy New Years
Thank you ur video help out....
Just fixed my 13 year old Samsung lcd for $13........THANKS!!
Hello... I congratulate you for sharing your knowledge with those of us who are starting. Besides, I wanted to ask you a question. I have that same model of tv and what mine does is turn on and the logo appears with horizontal stripes but the screen looks perfect. After several minutes the leds turn off but the audio continues. If I turn it off and turn it on again, it looks good again, although a horizontal line is noticeable at the bottom but not as visible. What do you think might be causing this problem? Thank you so much.
Thank you for the video. I would like to know where I can find out what the voltages should be on the various test points on my Samsung LCD TV?
Should be a legend on the board next to the pins
I looked at the boards in my TV and there are no voltages shown anywhere that I can see. I only see test point identifications. I looked at the boards in your video and I can't see any legend for voltages either. Am I missing something?
very informative video...tnx mate...please upload a video about "TV IMAGE SOLARIZATION":..i want to learn a fix for that kind of TV issue. looking forward to it, thanks and goodluck! :)
Would it also be wise to connect an small, low voltage illumination lamp on the open fuse to trouble shoot the board as it’s powered on???? I think I saw a technician do that on a tube television, but with a household incandescent 💡.
What is the lowest voltage and max voltge of good t con board...if you test in the test point output of t con board
Just tested my t con board i have dc volts going down to the modules. And my fuses are good on my t con board. Could this then be my display panel itself. Power supply and t con is testing ok.
bigdog8882
thanks so much,,,,perfect discription
No problem, thanks for watching.
No problem, thanks for watching.
Thank you for this video
VERY GOOD!! MUITO BOM!! BRASIL.
thanks for sharing your knowledge and time.. I'm struggling to repair my 46W300A here, the t-com is good , I followed your advice and checked the voltage in and out of it, and found the same values you did ( although it's not a Samsung, but the idea is the same ) ... but the tv is not giving image at all. the back light is okay.. the power supply is okay.. I'm thinking it could be the flat cable. I don't know..
Disconnect the Ribbon cables going to the panel (screen) one at a time, their should be two. If you get half a display or picture on one side of the screen, then U have a bad LCD panel. Thanks for watching Karla
REPLY
it gets white when I disconnect the ribbon.. but no picture is displayed. by the way, it`s not karla watching.. it`s her boyfriend.. I have just started working as an electronic technician and I am already coming across some challenges here. I could find the repair and service manual for this sony bravia lcd tv, but it only helped on identifying the flash troubleshooting and the VCCs out of the PS.. back on the backlight.. sometimes it doesnt turn on... it seems like the main board is also malfunctioning.. as for the t-com, when I checked the fuse in it, I got the 12v and the other pins also have low voltages.. that`s why I think it`s not the t-com...
I don`t quite understand the concept of lcd panel... could it be cracked or you are talking about the board inside of it ?
Hey, what kind of voltages are U gettin on the output side of the T-con with the panel hooked up?
lol, I didnt check the output.. geez.. how stupid I am. I will try to check now... but like I said,.. the mainboard is also not very good. sometimes it doesnt turn the t con on.
That's the name of this game "Live and Learn" lol. What gives u the indication that the main is not turning the T-Con on?
followed your instructions, voltages above chip are 1.5V ish and voltages below chip to LCD is 25mV and below. would you say this is acceptable voltages or would you recommend replacing the T-con board? (backlights and sound working although no picture). thanks!
nice lecture...i fully understand
from india ..good points.. dude .. u taught me lot.. looking to fix my LG 4K 50 inch .. horizontal lines .. lg local service checked ..they say panel issue ...but don't believe it is panel issue... need replace panel cost 20k INR ..too costly i can buy new tv.. but don't want to give up existing tv ... so planning to check and replace T-CON if possible.. thumbs up
Believe it. T-con usually doesn't cause lines. Just a "whole picture" or "no picture" problems. Its usually the screen COF cables or IC inside the cables. Thanks for watching. Blessings!
VERY GOOD JOB THANKS 😃
Excellent video very helpful...I have one question I have a 40" samsung tv model un40ju6500f it does the same exact thing as the tv in your video I have backlights sound but no picture I get 6 red flashes when powering on from remote reciever ive replaced main board t con board and power board with no remedy what could be causing these your reply is very much appreciated as I'm stuck at the moment and dumped a lot of parts in it already by not knowing what to look for wish I saw your video sooner before buying parts
If the t-con and mainboard didnt cure the problem, U may have a bad lcd panel.
How do you check the LCD panel if I disconnected one ribbon cable on the bottom of the t con board to see if I get half of a picture but still nothing anything else you can recommend to test or try
You saved my screen, thanks for your help!
Glad I could help!
Thanks for your video. One question. with my loewe individual 46 i´m able to see for a second a message that says no tv signal right before the screen turns black. Do you have any idea on what can be the cause of this problem? power supply appears to be working since i can hear the hard disk working properly and i´m able to send commands with the remote. thanks in advance
Hi, thanks for the video, I have checked that, there is not signs at the T-con broad input, I checked before the input, there is 1v signs from at the control panel output, if the issue could be happen in the T-con board?
