I just hemmed my husbands jeans and they look AMAZING but my question is what about the portion that is now tucked inside? I think I should place a few stitches around so they will remain up through washings. Anyone agree?

I think cut them off, then apply a denim patch over it so that it doesn’t fray and rip off over time.

Great idea and admire your creativity! But. This extra thickness will wear and narrow the leg opening considerably.Worth the extra time to cut and hand sew. Get the right color thread and take your time. Worth it :)

I do this trick on jeans very often but without any sewing. And this trick easly stand a whole day. Perosnally dont like hem jeans besaue the leg opening chanege and overall shape of the leg opening. Without hem you have more options like cuffing them or or adjust the length according to the shoes

You also need to hem the excess fabric sticking out, or else it will fall out as you wear it

I'm not sure...I think for a dress pants,it would be better if you cut off the excess("making sure to leave enough room to fold halfway to the desired hem length") and hand sew an invisible stitch.
