Now I understand how a turbo works... That's honestly genius. And also learned where the "pfft-" noise comes from in racing games. Good episode, very much learneding today. :D

It is a brilliant invention! We'll be seeing more turbos on smaller and smaller engines as cars become more efficient. Imagine the TSUTUTUTU on soccer-Mum SUV's x)

1:59 ceramic is very heat durable, that's why Koenigsegg uses ceramic brakes in yellow since the yellow color leads to giving up heat the strongest letting the brakes cool down faster
but also the V8 still sounds tasty...
Wow, I never would have guessed that ceramic colouring mattered! :0 Those crazies at Koenigsegg are so good at finding new ways to be fast... gotta love 'em.

The game simulates it very well if you use a wheel. There's zero feedback when you're at the top followed by enormous shaking as you go back down. Freaks me out every time!
Talking about car stuff is something I enjoyed and you had a very good explanation for non car enthusiasts

I actually really enjoy hearing you talk about car engineering. As someone who works at a museum of transport and technology it's really useful to know this information when doing tours. If I'm correct the system in a car turbocharger is very similar to how it works for aircraft turbochargers but those are more effective at higher altitudes of course due to the mechanics of air at high altitude
Wow! That's really cool :D Of course there's more complexity to a turbo (oil + water channels, fuel adjustments as boost increases, wastegate etc.) but the basic concept that I talked about is as factual as I could make it. I'd hate to make a mistake in front of a Museum employee!
And I believe they are quite similar in a way! I've seen Colin Furze turn a car turbo into a jet engine before, but obviously a car turbo is designed to be an air compressor rather than a mass-ejector, so it didn't make much thrust at all, but mechanically they're similar :)
@@TheBatesee honestly mate, from my understanding of the mechanics you did a pretty good job explaining it, and the snail shell comparison is the kind of thing that I compare it to now when explaining it to kids and tour groups, we New Zealanders love our cars just as much as you guys XD
I really hope you'll be sticking around RUclips for awhile. Your content back then was amazing in Cry of fear and Dead space. Seeing you back is like revisiting a old friend who hasn't really changed much.

I have seen some development vids of the remake :) I'm a _little_ nervous about it as I _reeeeeally_ loved the first game, so I hope they don't turn it into something it wasn't... but at the same time, it'll be nice to see the little details they add to it!

@@TheBatesee Luckily he wasn't actually in the car, it was parked outside his place and yeah, the second one he did buy before covid. Right at the start of covid was actually a good time to buy a car if you could, people were selling them left and right. I bought my baby yaris during this time and my 'friends' have taken it upon themselves to think of everything they could do to it... and the current obsession is rotary swapping my poor car

Are there a lot of R32s in Austrailia? I saw some videos on youtube and a lot of them seemed to be in AU. I live in S. Korea and theres literally none although we are right next to japan ;(
Oh there's heaps here! Just about every Nissan/Datsun ever made can be found here (Nissan Australia even built some of the cars here, like the 510 to 910 Bluebirds and the R31 Skyline), so our market was very ready to welcome the magical R32. It annihilated our V8 Holden Commodores and Ford Falcons in racing!
That's a real pity you never had any in South Korea. I guess you could look at grey imports, but that's likely expensive :/

Yep! Using a dusty old Logitech G29 that only _sometimes_ forgets where to centre the wheel :)

well imo any turbo makes engine sound awfull, this is just whining not roaring, imo the best sounding engine is stock v8 8.2 cadillac eldorado engine
Goodness! That's an interesting choice... It would be fascinating to hear one of those El Dorado's with a straight exhaust. They don't rev very high but the _torque_ would be amazing!
