- Whats up guys! In this video we install a M50 intake manifold on my 2001 330i E46 beater car! We got this swap kit from Pohlman Autosports and our tune from Chaos Calibrations. Do you guys think the swap is worth it on your E46? I will try to link all of the needed parts below. If you have any questions please leave a comment below and I will try to answer and help! - Jack

Your camera man needs to show what your talking about instead of your face when your showing details. The PS bracket, the gasket matching, the porting.. he goes closer when you go to show detail but then leaves your hands and the parts off screen.
Thank you for the feedback! We’ll work on that and try to get better camera angles for you next time!
L camera man
Seriously.
Also lighting need some improvement
1000% fumbled what should have been the one of the best vids on RUclips
Always a pleasure filming with my boy 🤙
You show is face to much 😅
Hi, nice video. It’s actually a CCV. Crank Case Ventilation valve
Thanks for the info
And what about oil catch can we have to install catch can?
Have you dont any further guides on this? Curious where the Oil Catch Can Exit is going to ?
Thanks a lot !
Not yet but will do an updated video going over some of the details we missed
What about purge valve .cancel or not?
Deleted it
Hey great video bro wish I’ve seen it when I did my swap.
What have you done with the purge valve that vaporized gas ,does you just keeping it open and letting it vent to the atmosphere, and the tune deleted the check engine light for it ? Or have you connected it back to the manifold? Thank you
Sorry for the late reply!
Our tuner was able to tune it out of the ECU functions and the delete the CEL as well. For me I wanted everything as simple as possible but if you wanted to keep the factory operation, you would need to tee in the purge valve to one of the intake vacuum ports.
Nice video! What fuel injectors are you running with ? Stock m54b30?
Yes stock injectors for now
@@jack_davis_did you ever upgrade injectors since this video? Because the stock ones have an opposite spray pattern as they’re installed backwards on the m50
What about the throttle body cable ? does anyone make a bracket for the ms42 style throttle body. I really don’t feel like ghetto rigging something out of the old one.
That’s a great question and I’m not sure on that honestly…. I would reach out to Pohlman Autosports or another company perhaps that offers these conversion kits! Wish I could help more!
Yo bro. Cool content
How did you run the idle valve line from underneath the intake into the induction. Which fittings did you use
I used a aftermarket fitting that came with my cold air intake
Why didn't you do a before and after dyno run for true results?
@@el_negrito465 because dyno time is very expensive
Can you go over the vacuum lines you installed separately? I wa shopping to see the connections you had in order to better understand why my install left my car running poorly.. A lot of videos are more close up with everything done but your set up is closest to mine! Please and thank you! I’ve watched this video maybe 30 times already trying to see how your vacuum lines are routed! Please!! And Thank you!!! (((:
Do you need a tune to get that power?
I’ve done the same things using your video that was very helpful for me. Unfortunally i haven’t done the ECU setup actually and car have problems at low rpms. It’s like the engine flooded at 1500/1700rpms and run very rough. Do you think that the problem could be the DISA valve not removed from ECU? Thank you 🙏🏼
Yes you will need a tune for the delete! Hit up Chaos Calibrations and he can get it fixed up for you
@@jack_davis_ Thanks mate i'll do. I've just another question: you have put the fuel pipe vacuum of pressure regulator directly on M50 intake port or between MAF and throttle like sotck M54 inlet? Thanks again for help.
@@lukko000000 yes correct I ran the “vacuum” line from the OEM fuel pressure regulator/filter to the OEM location on my aftermarket cold air intake
@@jack_davis_ thanks buddy, actually i’ve this pipe pugged in the M50 port, direcly in manifold. I don’t know if the problem that i have depends from this, that actually i don’t have this pipe between throttle and MAF like OEM setup.
@@lukko000000 the FPR small hose is not supposed to have full engine vacuum. You need to place it before the throttle body aka in non engine vacuum
What about the disa valve?
gets deleted and coded out with a tune
Yes correct
Bro i cant find m50b25 manifold i only find m50b20 manifold is it going to be ok to install on my m52tub28?
the m50b25 has bigger ports so its not gonna be the same with an m50b20. But yes, you can put a m50 intake on m52tun28 casue ive done that. But the kits the sell for m54 dosent macht, throttle plate is diffrent so you have to craft your own one, and also u need injector specers for the fuelrail.
I’m not sure how difficult or different they are to swap honestly
that means if you want to mount only the m50 intake manifold on the m52tub28, you can't get anything, but you also need other things?
@@jack_davis_ its a bit different but not so much harder. The only thing is that there is almost no tutorial or information how to do it on the m52tu so you have to figure out some stuff by yourself :)
@@petarbaleta5514 yea there is gonna be a problem with the throttlebody because they are diffrent boltpatterns, and the adapterplate they sell for m54 engines are not gonna work correctly for m52tu. And on the m52tu you have the fuel pressure regulator sits on the fuelrail which its not allowing you to get the fuelrail on correctly on the m50 intake. So you need to buy injetor specers to make it fit
do you have to port your head if you swap to m50 intake manifold or can you leave it untouched?
Better to make the ports match to the manifold for the best results. It can be done without porting but if you have it open than it can easily be done in under an hour.
Ive got a e46 325ci, i got the m50 intake already at home, is it worth it?
Yes
no. It is easily one of the most overrated manifold ever. Ive literally dynoed more horsepower with m54b25 manifold on m52tub28 engine then with m50b25 intake manifold. Tune was adjusted too. Its funny that a lot of those videos tell about gains, and yet no1 does maf logs or dynos to support the claim. Apart from great intake noise, for stock engines, dont do it. M54b25 manifold is great. No choke point for your engine even at 7000rpm.
Only if you opt for better cams, and 7000+rpm go m50 manifold.
@@TomoReso I totally understand what you’re saying however for our needs or a racer / mechanic / or just enthusiast I think the M50 and a tune simplifies the engine bay a ton and makes the car easier to work on when at the track. No more vacuum lines to break or fall off, no disa valve to break or start leaking, etc.
@@jack_davis_ That is very true, yes. If done correctly it simplifies things a lot.
Ah thanks for your expanded reply, so the only reason in my situation to do it would be for the noise then, id love some more intake noise so it feels more like a racecar. But im not sure if its quite worth all the hassle@@TomoReso

Appreciate the support 🤘
So you cut the brake booster and routed it under the throttle body any pics ''and what did you do with the purge/ evap valve exactly '' Also there's 2 vaccum lines on the f connector not sure if I missed it but what do you do with those 2? Thanks again I'm doing my swap soon
Yes I just cut the factory E46 booster hose and made it fit on the M50 manifold. I deleted the purge valve and tuned it out in the ECU via Chaos Calibrations. If you wanted to keep it all you would need to do is route it to one of the vacuum ports on the intake
your camera man needs to focus on the work more than dude doing it.... i mean damn man, cant see what he is doing when you are filming his face....
We’re taking that into consideration for the next video! Thanks for the feedback!
To much shaking and not enough light
Bro this sucks I don't see where you tap I don't see it's crazy you're you're cameraman is mostly filming you
