Couldn’t be more perfect timing. Jules is working on my kit for my 04 2.5 so I’ve been super excited to see you posting this specific build. Thank you a lot for taking the time explaining a lot of this stuff! Can’t wait to see the rest of it
I saved this from somewhere I forgot “One thing to realize is that the engineering principle at work is convection - that heat rises. For convection to work best, you connect one hose to the block drain, try to have it go uphill or flat to the bottom port on the turbo, and then connect the top port on the turbo to a location uphill such as the cyl head port or TB heat port. That way when the car is shut down the turbo "sucks" heat from the coolant jacket at the bottom of the block and sends it up to the top of the head and radiator inlet tank which is the hottest area.”
so i have a Turbo E36 right now, andddddd now ill be buying a cheap 325ci or something and turbocharging it following your exact build guide. working AC ???? all stock cooling ??? sign me up. turboing the E36 was a nightmare in comparison
Hey man. I have a question. Do you think a m54b30 aluminum block with forged internals ( and low compression like 8.5:1 for pump gas) could handle 700-800 hp reliably? I’m thinking of buying an e60 I 530i with the m54b30 which I’m planning to build. It will be my first build. The goal is to build a reliable daily driving capable, lower hp like 300 or 400hp for daily use and a max of 700 or 800 hp when needed. Theoretically the block should hold 30 psi of boost. After all all newer 6 cyl bmw engines are aluminium blocks and hold that boost pressure with ease. But some time ago I watched a RUclips video of a dude saying he bought an iron m50 or m52 block because the aluminum m54 can’t handle boost or smthing like that but I can’t find that video…So assuming everything is forged, arp studs and cut ring head gasket are used do you think the block would handle it. Also I would like it to be a 3 lt engine. Is the b30 crank a weak point?? Should I go with an aftermarket forged one from VAC or smthing??? Where I live swapping an engine is a hassle and almost illegal so I would like to build the crap out of the m54.
