I have a ls1 swapped s13. I live in south Florida. My car over heats after 3 laps, she will peg 250°. I'm doing this tomorrow. I feel so dumb for not thinking of this before. Thank you so much.
Michael Fabiano before you go too crazy with cutting and buying a new radiator and plumbing, make sure: 1) your thermostat works and actually opens at a low enough degree (around 80 Celsius would be good) 2) your circulation is good. No clogged interior heater, no almost dead water pump, no wrinkled up hoses, etc. 3) you don’t have direct heat sources heating up your radiator or hoses. Manifolds are the most common culprit here. 4) you have good airflow to the radiator and very important is that hot air also has a quick and easy escape (hood vents for example) 5) your oil cooler has big enough lines and sufficient air flow in and out. And of course, no air bubbles! Otherwise yeah, go for it 😃
could put a valve in the heater core line and then be able to switch between a 2nd rad (for hot weather) and a functioning heater core (for colder weather)
My Dad took the heater core out of my e30 and put a huge radiator on it, we also take my bonnet off if its really hot but we might go for 2 rads on my s15, great idea
I've had this idea before only much more involved as in with big piping and a secondary eletric pump. Also have an idea of using a dirt bike radiator and have a stand alone system for the turbo as well
I was just thinking about this for my LS but I didn't think the water pump would have enough flow to pump to the rear of the car like that... I will be doing this now
Decent idea, but I bet a better idea would be to install a heater core outside of the cabin with a fan on it or even an air dam. The beauty of that is if you want to "sometimes" drive it stock with an interior and a heater or what have you you can just swap some hoses real quick and you go from one setup to the other.
Well-informed interviewer and car owner seems like a cool laid-back dude! Just doing research on double radiator setups, didn't expect to run into such a fun video.
Was the second rad plumbed in series or parallel? I'm looking to do something similar myself on a custom build. Also, any upgrade on the waterpump? Thanks for the info!
Someone tell me if it's a bad idea. I want to basicly do this to my Patrol but in place of the in cab rubber lines! I want to do a stainless pipe with alloy fins so basicly a pipe radiator... they will also be on the outside.
If you're Fielding that ain't an option. Good setup for guys without a strong wall attraction.
I totally agree. If you like to drag walls then that rad is in a bad spot. Move it forward a foot and direct airflow

Please let me know how it works out, I am curious how this works if people implement it!

How did that work for you?
@@LoneStarDrift It works ok but gets hot during battles and cools down quite quickly. with 2 rads does it get hot during battles or just stay cool?
Max Cotton Drifter I ran a full comp with 6+ battles almost back to back and never broke 200 degrees
@@MTFEQUIPMENT Cool. sounds like a plan for my s15 :)
I watch all of your vlogs @@MaxCotton I can't believe you are a CHILD and you drive as you do. How old are you??

as in off the waterpump into the water cooled turbo, then into a dirt bike rad back to the return.

Doesn’t affect the water pump at all.
Ok that's just some next level stuff~!! Great idea for future mods!

This is pretty clever

How smart, replace the heater core with a radiator. I guess you bleed both at same time while filling and then it’s set.

This is actually so bad ass
Love it lmao
This is a thing for those who run OM606, i know 4 cars in norway that are doing this 😄

Aaron where did you get that shirt?!?!
That shirt came from Urban Outfitters a year or two ago, it is a really cool classic Star Wars shirt. Looks like Speed Racer though.
So rear mount radiator with front mount radiator.. Hm
