Late 80's you took off the seat and you had access to the battery. After 30 years of development we have come to this complicated way to do it. Perfect!
Excellent video and my hat is off to you. In regard to Kawasaki ZX14 engineering, absolutely absurd and beyond stupid. All I have to do is unscrew and lift the seat on my Busa.
Thanks for watching. An under the seat battery replacement would be nice future option oh the zx14r would be nice, a little patience and it won't take too long,
I own a ZX-14R and a 2007 Hayabusa. The "busa sure is a lot easier to replace the battery. What is going on with Kawasaki? The engineers must have obsessive-compulsive disorder or something similar. My Kawi has been a very good bike, however. No trouble at all and man is it fast!
@@DeepFryeFilms Yeah, I had my bike 3 years and had to change the battery 3 times, twice in the last 6 months, dam tracker was draining the battery, fitted an optimiser to it and disconnected the tracker.. So getting to the battery was a pain in the a$$😂 Great video 👍👍
Guess what I'm more concerned with is i ever needed to jump the bike? Coming from a GSXR the battery was under the seat and very easy to access as others have mentioned with the busa. Just picked up a 14 zx14r yesterday.
I definitely agree if you only have booster cables as that would be a total pain in the butt. I'd highly recommend having a wired quick connect to the battery so you can use a booster pack to save a bunch of time.
@@DeepFryeFilms It does have the quick connect for a tender but how would you jump a bike from that? Or are you talking about wiring something else up?
With NOCO, you can get an adapter which would allow for boosting as well that connects to the quick connect. Seems pretty convenient. Here is a link:fortnine.ca/media/catalog/product/cache/a2bf45e9635ff86c8c09fbc84b193941/catalogimages/noco/boost-x-connect-adapter-gbc007.jpg
@@optimo619 I thought you were joking about the fairing :). I know they are not cheap through the dealership and I am not sure about the quality of the ones on Amazon and Ebay. Maybe try Facebook Marketplace or one of the ZX14R forums and see if you can find someone parting one out of the same generation. Good luck, I hope you can find one. Awesome bike.
You can check your owners manual under specifications. For mine it is a sealed battery mode FTX14-BS 12V 12 Ah. I replaced mine with the stock one from Kawasaki which they had in stock. If you call your local Kawasaki dealership and ask for the parts department and let them know the year of your ZX14R, they will make sure you get the right one. There are after market batteries out there that can safe you a couple of pounds in weight, but I didn’t go that route. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Definitely a pain in the ass compared to just lifting the seat on other bikes I have owned. Good to do on a rainy day with a beer where there is no rush :) Sure beats paying labor to replace it at a bike shop as well.
Just one more reason not to buy a crappy zx14! Gotta remove all of that just to remove a damn battery?? My busa's battery is under the seat. 2 minute removel time. 🤣
Scared of a little battery removal!! 😂 your pathetic, plenty of places to hold your purse on your underpowered, fkn ugly as sin “Busa” so I’m sure that works out in your favor.
I've driven both. Both are a lot of fun, but for long ride comfort and smoothness, I'll take the ZX14R. I've never changed a battery on a Hayabusa. I assume it is a lot easier.

I use battery YUASA YTX14-BS that cost 90€ and not YUASA YTX14H-BS that costs 180€. Which model of battery are you using;
You have your bike kitted nicely for a long trip. The new battery I put in was the YTX14-BS. The old one in there before lasted quite a few years before needing to be replaced. I haven’t had any issues with it draining fast. I do keep it on trickle charge when not in use. Hopefully you will be able to get to the bottom of that. I don’t have any of those accessories that you have.

I need to remove my entire tank to access the battery lmao….

Excellent how-to video, in all aspects. Thanks

As a zx14r owner, my biggest fear are fairings. I never know the sequence to remove stuff.
Thanks for the step by step. 😎👍
No problem, glad it helped.
Great video. Much appreciated. Thank you. 👍🏼

Nicely done
Thanks!
Bloody he'll. I'm always taking the battery in and out on my gsxr 1k k4 and vfr750 and it's a 20 secon job.
This has been the most difficult one of any of the bikes I have owned to access the battery. Miss that convenience for sure.

One thing about the zzr1400 battery. It is a pain and fiddly to get to, is there a reason why it is built under the frame and not the seat?
Good question. I have no idea. Luckily this only has to be done every 5 years or so.
