I was dating a girl in 1966 when this song came out. I married that girl in 1968. Raised two wonderful daughters. 😀 55.5 years later we are still married.
If only Andy Williams would have released this version of "Changes" with the Association backing him, it could have been a huge hit! Jules Alexander's guitar solo at 6:00 is quite amazing, along with the genius low-end bass guitar sound of Brian Cole.
I SO agree! I come to this RUclips post often to hear "Changes" often. My two favourite vocal recording entities. Along with, of course, Beatles, Beach Boys, the Who, Bacharach singers, Fifth Dimension, Phil Spector's gang, CSNY, Little River Band, aw what the hell, we are pig RICH with the voices of ANGELS!
The Association stands out for me from all the other great '60s bands for their unique vocal arrangements and clean, crisp instrumentation. Their lyrics spoke to a 12 year old me somehow.
So many memories, I was in the Army for a year training on my way to Vietnam. Cherish came out during that time in 66. I was blessed to return home in 68. Thanks Association for a great song & harmony.
I too am a big fan of these two acts. Andy Williams' voice cascades like rain & sunshine, and the Association, well.......six (really seven) lead singers, songwriters, musicians and comedians with a powerful sound and repertoire.
Although this was obviously lip-synced and mimed, the last song "Looking Glass" was from their second album, Renaissance. On the first album session musicians were used, other than lead guitar and Terry Kirkman on recorder, flugelhorn, harmonica and woodwinds. The second album, however, was completely performed by the band themselves, so they're miming to their own recorded performance.
Yes, this was when Gary "Jules" Alexander was in the band, before he went off to experience Eastern culture. Ironically, except for the occasional drop-in of Jim Yester, he is the only one regularly touring with the band this year.
Both Jim yester and Jules Alexander front the current touring group with the late brian coles son Jordan, the late Larry Ramos brother del,Bruce Pictor playing Ted bluechel jrs.drum kit and another guy doing the lead guitar playing.Russ giguire works as their behind the scenes guys and retired from performing as Ted bluechel Jr.did.
Andy wasn’t pandering he ran a music variety show and was showcasing the best talent in artists and singer songwriters . The Andy Williams show was a world wide phenomena and success . R.I.P. Andy you are greatly missed 🙏🏼⭐️🇦🇺💙

That's so good to hear .
I’m very happy for you. That’s called. True love … my father had that with my mother
You have us beat by 9 years. Congratulations
Quando ouvi está música eu estava no colégio com 15 anos.
This group had so many beautiful songs...
They did.
I didn't care for this song of theirs.
The late, great Terry Kirkman. The composer of Cherish and many other great songs.
Before Larry Ramos joined the band.

So amazingly harmonic and beautiful. It's no wonder Andy loved the Association.
Andy could pass as a member of the band, in this clip.
Please put these guys in the rock and roll hall of fame
60’s 70’s music was the BEST! HS GRADUATE 1975
Class of 1975 ? Me too ✋️
Pretty deep lyrics and beautiful harmonizing on this song. Love it
This version of Changes is better than the original. Andy Williams killed it on this
This is the best song Andy Williams ever sang, should have been a 45!

I agree. Jules is pitchy on the original. Andy Williams absolutely took it to a higher level.
@@shuroom57I completely agree , mate you have fantastic taste in music 🎵 🙏🏼🇦🇺💙
"Cherish" and "Never My Love" were the popular "slow" dances at Prom....Sweet memories.❤
Wow. This is a gem. Thank you!
This song stayed on the radio.

👍 Welcome home ...
Andy could sing with anyone . . .
The same can be said for Tom Jones.
Andy had a capacity and technique to perfectly blend in with any artists .
I would have liked to have seen the late, great Mr. Williams sing “Under Branches” and “You Hear Me Call Your Name” with The Association.
Andy elevated the Association with this performance. I suspect he did this with other guests. I would say the same thing about Tom Jones.
Andy was fantastic as he promoted and showcased new talent on this show . Andy was compulsory viewing every week in dads home .
as a big association fan & andy williams, this a great treat. thanks

Thanks for the info!
Amazing, 👍👍👍
Great stuff! I was all of 14 months old!!!
I LIKE IT
Probably the best song to get stuck in your head.
this was 1966... the Filipino guy, Larry Ramos hasn't joined the band yet... he came in on the second album (1967)
Larry was Hawaiian!
@@louisstephen7368 Hawaiian by citizenship only... parents are both pure Filipino by blood ☺
He came in on the 3rd album.
Which album had Along Comes Mary?
@@louisstephen7368 Filipinos like to think that they are Hawaiian because they suffer from an inferiority complex.
Are they in the Hall of Fame!!? 🎉🎉🎉❤
No, but they should have been long ago.
A lot of vocal work to sing this song. Not that easy to duplicate.
Un video muy valioso... Gracias por compartir.

4:14 the mischievous heart of the Association
This when before Larry Ramos replaced Jules?
Shamelessly lip syncing to the studio track...way too hard to do this justice live back then...great song, though!
Could they stand any further from those mics? 😕
I don't see Larry Ramos here.
He didn't join the band until early '67...

Even back then you could tell that Andy Williams, (about 40 at this time), was pandering to the youth trying to be "in the scene man"... lol
Andy wasn’t pandering he ran a music variety show and was showcasing the best talent in artists and singer songwriters . The Andy Williams show was a world wide phenomena and success . R.I.P. Andy you are greatly missed 🙏🏼⭐️🇦🇺💙
Singing their hit song or lip-syncing it?
😳❓️Bass player is Pat Sajack ...
Brian Cole…
Fake! Anybody pretend to sing with the record.
I always wondered how Russ got over his neuropathy...... or were most white performers still just that stiff and unlimber then?..🙄😁😁
I don't know, race-baiter; why don't you travel to the bottom of the ocean without an oxygen source and ask a fkn lobster about it.
comedy is hard.
the 2nd song is also quite good with Andy's smooth voice!
