Born and raised up in this city, it’s surprising to see anyone outside of China especially someone from this far put this city into their travel plan. Hope you soak up your moment in Nanning!
As others have said, Nanning's Wuxu airport is partly a military airport. There's usually a military guard stationed near the entrance to the main concourse. Nanning is beautiful! It has a very SE Asian vibe, many Vespas, pedestrian crossings are more like recommendations, so be careful :D. I was there in June and I'm going back next January. I recommend the glass bridge, the three streets two alleys area (三街两巷) and a Yong river cruise at night. Nanning is great for fresh fruit, both familiar and exotic. You'll find plenty of fruit vendors on the streets or at markets. I understand it might be hard, but try to pair up with some locals when you go to KTV. KTV is more fun in groups of 3-8 and the locals will show you how to order and have a great time.

You were landing at one of those dual-use airports. In China dual-use airports support both the PLAAF and civilian flights. Thus, taking off and landing at such airports require all blinders to be closed off as it is also part of an military base.
You can meet Gweilo 60 in Nanning. Hopefully its still pretty cheap food. From Nanning you can see Guilin and from there ferry trip to Yangshuo. The ferry trip was a highlight of my trips when I go to Guangxi province.

Nanning International is a dual use airport for both civil and military. Guangxi Province, the size of the UK and where Nanning is, doesn't have much flat land. So both the civil and military have to share the same airport. The reason for the closed window blinds.
Welcome back to China guys. Didn’t know you went to Thailand for two weeks. Anyway, glad to see you back. Nanning is a very beautiful city. There is so much to see. Food is delicious and cheap there. Hi, I am your subscriber and am very delighted that you are visiting Nanning! I am a Nanninger who lives in London now. TBH Nanning is not famous for its tourist attractions, maybe the view of Yongjiang river邕江 (the mother river near your hotel), Qingxiu Mountain青秀山, Nanhu park南湖 and some museums (e.g., Guangxi Museum of Nationalities广西名族博物馆). Many tourists take Nanning as a transfer station of many other natural attractions in Guangxi (so many! e.g., Detian Waterfalls德天瀑布). But the food here is the best in the world in my heart! From Laoyou rice noodle老友粉, Lemon Duck 柠檬鸭, rice noodle roll卷筒粉 to wide varieties of cheap tropical fruit (Durian, jacket fruit, lychee, mango). In fact there is a pub called Speakeasy whose boss is from England and many foreigners in Nanning like to go to, perhaps you can go and ask their advice for travelling in Nanning hahah (there are actually many Brits living in Nanning than you might think of)

@@antwangoI guess it’s because Guangxi is one of the poorest provinces in China, so is Nanjing as its city. So it might be more difficult to access cheese or any other western style food there. Not saying that they don’t have these products, just not as easily accessible as in other parts of China.
Glad to see more videos in China. I've been watching Gweilo 60 videos about Nanning for about 3 years, but I think he's on his way to the Phillpines while you're there.

Really really impressed by your spirit of exploration! Xiamen then Nanning. There are a few types of sleeper trains in China and they are the affordable way of going long distances over night and you can save a night of hotel expenses as well. Recently a new high speed sleeper train started to operate between Beijing-Hong Kong/Shanghai-Hong Kong that travels at 350kmph, making it the fastest sleeper train in the world, they even have cocktails on the train. You might get the chance to try that if you are going on the route.
@@OTWD_yt I've not seen the new high speed sleeper trains covered anywhere on RUclips yet. It's certainly worth trying. It's not the old sleeper bullet train that are green, it's the proper Fuxing train that goes from Beijing-Hong Kong(G897) or Shanghai-Hong Kong(G899) in under 12 hours. And of course you don't necessarily need to ride the entire journey, you can do the trip to Shenzheng on the same train. Usually if you are traveling for more than a couple stops on high speed trains you can order food to be delievered from upcoming stations to your seat. Also if you are traveling long distances like to Xinjiang, try business class on a flight, they are usually not very expensive. Also in Guangxi Province you can take cruise ships from Guilin and have beautiful views on board. In some places you can even take a raft down the river. Another "attraction" you may visit is the metro going through an apartment in Chongqing and there is also China's deepest metro station. A few tips: if you have alipay set up on both of your phones you can take the metro with transport QR Code on Alipay so no need to buy a physical ticket. Also, it's a good idea to also set up wechat in case alipay doesn't work, and try to add cards from different banks as backup on alipay because sometimes it's the bank's fraud detection kicking in. In addition, Apple Maps is usually better than google maps in China. Apart from esim, you might still want to get a Chinese sim card since you are staying for 60days just to have a local phone number which can sometimes be handy. Have a wonderful trip in China!
when i 1st heard u guys were on the short term transit visa again, i was actually disappointed. 60 days, now thats a proper visit to china. Have fun and look forward to exploring china alongside you.
✨ Many years ago, my children, in 1996, there was a series of horrific terrorist bombings in Pakistan and the Phillipines where the bombs' timers used a wrist watch. That's why security was so concerned that 2 people had 3 watches!
About the not allow to open window and have to wait on plane on arrival... Seems like you landed in a Mil/Civ dual airfield... So you will be told not to open window curtain, and the half hour wait for clearance indicates there are military planes using the field at that moment.
@@OTWD_yt Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, and Yangshuo, Guilin, then head west to Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village in Xijiang Town, Leishan County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, and then to Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province. Continuing westward to Yunnan Province, Kunming, Shangri La, Lijiang, Shaxi, and Dali. The scenery of these remote areas is completely different from that of Beijing, Shanghai, and Xiamen. One is a modern city made of steel and cement, and the other is a cultural small town that preserves its original scenery. Actually, it doesn't matter. It's also good to go to cities like Chengdu, Chongqing, and Xi'an, depending on personal preferences.
That watch, because China is not a duty free country, only the Hong Kong part is, so she checked it in case people smuggle in luxury goods without paying tax. No worry, usual stuff.
Awesome, so you can use the 6-day visa multiple times. I plan to visit a trade fair next year and live in BKK, so I can just coming back and going again. Also how was the 60-day visa process?
Yes you can use it multiple times. The process is pretty straightforward the visa office is about a 15 minute walk from nana bts. You need to apply online first. Are you a british passport holder?
Sleep trains always depart at evening, and arrive in the morning. Bullet trains always depart in the morning and arrived at evening. The are two type of bullet train in Chian: Fuxinghao has a speed to 350 km/hour, while Hexiehao can reach a speed of 250km, which is similar to the sleep train.
The inconsistency of the alipay could be due to your esim connections. It's better to get a physical temporary Sim card in China and It's very straightforward in all the major cities in China. Getting the physical s card, I mean.
10:15 maybe most smuggling commodities in China are luxurious watch. So she might mean if you didn't bring unopened and sealed watch, she wouldn't have to check it. Anyway, that's not a good experience
It’s likely because you have to pay tax on anything over a certain price. Most likely, if they think you may be selling in China, as foreign brand watches tend to be far less expensive abroad. I can’t remember the minimum price for them to require tax on the product though.
Actually there is a HSR station underneath the airport, every 1 hour there is a high speed train to take passengers back and forth to Nanning train station, at around 15 min trip. if your wechat is OK, there is DIDI menu to call DIDI taxi, price at around 60 RMB to reach Nanning city center, 30% cheaper than normal taxi. however, it is ok to get in the shuttle, it takes 30 to 40 min to reach there.
Hi Ben, you can contact "Gweilo 60" who is from Canadian and lived in Nanning for almost 20 years. he is also youtuber, you can drink beer with him, he is a nice guy and very familar with Nanning. LOL
Regarding the border management personnel asking about the watch, you only need to remember one thing, that is, they just want to confirm that you have not violated the purpose of travel. Because you are using a tourist visa, you are not allowed to engage in behavior other than tourism. For example purchasing on behalf of others.
also im not too sure what to expect yet of the video, it probably started differently or its in a different format!? im just 10 mins in... but i approve of the longer than 10 min video XDD ive been watching the hutchinsons recently
We’re gonna be doing longer video’s in this series. So hope you enjoy it. The only reason for the shorter videos previously was due to time restrictions being only on a 6 day visa now we have longer to get more content the videos will be longer
So glad you’re trying to say the currency properly. Perhaps this will help: try saying “you aren’t “ without the “t” on the end so you say, “you arn” and it’ll be just about perfect. 👌 Next step, you’re very polite and have plenty of thank yous which is great ie shay shay. But it’d sound a bit more authentic if you pronounce it “see air, see eh” very quickly. Love you guys, your vlogs and love your accents. Close enough to Pompey. Keep it up and catch up on your next vid.
By the way, that’s about the limit to my knowledge of the language. So if anyone can improve on my attempt to romanize the Mandarin, please feel welcome. 🙏👍
u got Aliy pay,u are don't need buy "tickets",there is a function, u find out justlike taffic or go out sth,i dont for sure in english, that will occura QR for u. and u need change that location, where u in different city.
As a Chinese American, if I wanted to stay in China Mainland for more than six months in the past, I would take advantage of being close to Hong Kong and Macau since my hometown is in Guangdong. I would simply go to Macau or Hong Kong to refresh my visa, and then I could head back to Mainland for another six months. I’m not sure if you can still do this nowadays-visiting Hong Kong or Macau to renew your Chinese visa before re-entering mainland China. It would be much more convenient than having to travel to another country. You might want to consult the relevant authorities about whether this is still an option.
You can get a two year multi entry visa easily from the uk? I’d never been before and took my application- was told the day it would be returned etc so much easier than having to keep applying
@@OTWD_yt so much easier you have to go face to face to the embassy - fill in all your stuff on line print it out and take it all with you with proof of hotels flights etc They check it in front of you take your payment and passport then tell you what date you will get it back They will stick the visa inside your passport Saves so much hassle !!
If you don't like the bubbles, jellies, any fillings in the drink, you can just ask them not to add it when you order. Anything can be customized in China.
Regarding the conversation about your three watches: That's the customs officer checking out for potential smugglers. It is not uncommon for people to buy luxury goods overseas and come into China without declaring to the customs, thus avoiding import tax. I think you were let off without any finds/taxation as it looked highly unlikely you were one of those smugglers.
there are not normal traveling cities for foreigners in China this time you visit, it's great. You would get quite different experience from other hot cities.
Where is Nannieng? Why do you always go to small cities like Xiomen and Nanieng? But your China videos are very interesting anyway!Recommended your channel to my friend,my friend is going to China soon.

new subscriber here! looking forward to your new videos from China!
Welcome aboard! ❤️
if you find Yuan difficult to say, you can also say "kuai", which is a more informal way to say yuan, just like quid or buck.
when i 1st heard u guys were on the short term transit visa again, i was actually disappointed. 60 days, now thats a proper visit to china. Have fun and look forward to exploring china alongside you.
We always had this planned Ito get a long term visa looking forward to sharing this series with everyone
34:20 the lady in the restaurant said that one in the jar is pickle, and you thought was oak Choi ,which is lost in translation 🤣
Oh haha
Omg! It’s the city of green!
Closing the windows of the plane may be due to the presence of military sensitive areas on the ground
Yes I understand
✨ Many years ago, my children, in 1996, there was a series of horrific terrorist bombings in Pakistan and the Phillipines where the bombs' timers used a wrist watch. That's why security was so concerned that 2 people had 3 watches!
Got ya.
About the not allow to open window and have to wait on plane on arrival... Seems like you landed in a Mil/Civ dual airfield... So you will be told not to open window curtain, and the half hour wait for clearance indicates there are military planes using the field at that moment.
Ah yes I see ❤️
ahhhh so thats where they keep the H20 and J20s!!!! XDDD wait wtf the military also use a fancy massive airport?? im confused
One like from me. Hope this video gets 1,000 likes soon👍。
Looks like it’s happening 😳😂
Hi There, welcome back to China, and welcome to my city Nanning. Hope you two have a great trip and have a lot of fun!
Thank you 😊
Hi Folks, what is the kanji character translation app your using?
Google translate works with a vpn
In remote areas of China, there are some small cities that have not suffered too much industrial pollution, making them a great place for travel.
Any suggestions?
Usual stuff.
我来当第一了
🔥
Love from India
❤️❤️❤️
Have family in Nanning, been there many times. Not 2 - 3 million people, more like 7-9 million population.
Yes I know I correct myself in the next video. Keep watching
Enjoy your time there!🎉
Thank you 😊
Hey guys you are both lucky that your still in asia
Nanning’s night market is very well-known in China.
Love you two on a travel day ❤
Oh yes 👍 cant beat a travel day 😊
Awesome, so you can use the 6-day visa multiple times.
@@OTWD_yt Yep, from the UK
Sleep trains always depart at evening, and arrive in the morning. Bullet trains always depart in the morning and arrived at evening. The are two type of bullet train in Chian: Fuxinghao has a speed to 350 km/hour, while Hexiehao can reach a speed of 250km, which is similar to the sleep train.
Since you guys love mixue so much, I'll try to help you to pronounce it correctly, it's mee-shoe-yea 😊
Like your videos btw, enjoy your adventures!
Thank you so much 😊
enjoy ur trip guys🥰
Thank you 😊
Let’s go and do some singing for us 😂😂
😂😂😳
The inconsistency of the alipay could be due to your esim connections. It's better to get a physical temporary Sim card in China and It's very straightforward in all the major cities in China. Getting the physical s card, I mean.
Yes that is true 👍
China is a country full of magic, and I have always wanted to travel.
Yes 💯💯❤️❤️
10:15 maybe most smuggling commodities in China are luxurious watch. So she might mean if you didn't bring unopened and sealed watch, she wouldn't have to check it. Anyway, that's not a good experience
I understand
欢迎你们🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 😊
It’s likely because you have to pay tax on anything over a certain price. Most likely, if they think you may be selling in China, as foreign brand watches tend to be far less expensive abroad. I can’t remember the minimum price for them to require tax on the product though.
Fair enough 😊
Actually there is a HSR station underneath the airport, every 1 hour there is a high speed train to take passengers back and forth to Nanning train station, at around 15 min trip. if your wechat is OK, there is DIDI menu to call DIDI taxi, price at around 60 RMB to reach Nanning city center, 30% cheaper than normal taxi. however, it is ok to get in the shuttle, it takes 30 to 40 min to reach there.
Thank you 🙏
Hi Ben, you can contact "Gweilo 60" who is from Canadian and lived in Nanning for almost 20 years. he is also youtuber, you can drink beer with him, he is a nice guy and very familar with Nanning. LOL
I don’t have a contract for him.
Regarding the border management personnel asking about the watch, you only need to remember one thing, that is, they just want to confirm that you have not violated the purpose of travel. Because you are using a tourist visa, you are not allowed to engage in behavior other than tourism. For example purchasing on behalf of others.
Yes I understand, they are just doing their job
Very interesting trip
Yes it was 😊
also im not too sure what to expect yet of the video, it probably started differently or its in a different format!? im just 10 mins in... but i approve of the longer than 10 min video XDD ive been watching the hutchinsons recently
We’re gonna be doing longer video’s in this series. So hope you enjoy it. The only reason for the shorter videos previously was due to time restrictions being only on a 6 day visa now we have longer to get more content the videos will be longer
@@OTWD_yt awesome stuff... jealous of you guys and the food!! and just everywhere being open like 24hrs!!!
Congrats getting your longer visa
Thanks! 😃
如果你们想要更实惠地吃东西,应该在餐厅吃,而不是带回旅店吃。因为如果你打包带走,碗筷是收钱的,大概每份要多加1至2块钱。而且一般来说,打包的分量没有在餐厅吃的分量足。❤
ah really ok thank you 😊
So glad you’re trying to say the currency properly.
Perhaps this will help: try saying “you aren’t “ without the “t” on the end so you say, “you arn” and it’ll be just about perfect. 👌
Next step, you’re very polite and have plenty of thank yous which is great ie shay shay.
Thank you by the way 😊
Great video
Thank you 😊
Karoke!!!!
It’s coming 🤣😳
You were fine. 20 yarns or yuans or yons.. 😁😁😁 we know what you were saying.
Haha il probably forget and switch back after 2 episodes 😂

@@OTWD_yt um.😂sorry that

@@OTWD_yt 😂
Amazing
Thanks ❤️
✨✨Nanning population is NINE million.
Yes I’ve corrected myself in the new video coming tomorrow 😊
@@OTWD_yt Was not correcting you, just wanted you to know it's really crowded! ✨
@@stevesenick got ya 👍
As a Chinese American, if I wanted to stay in China Mainland for more than six months in the past, I would take advantage of being close to Hong Kong and Macau since my hometown is in Guangdong. I would simply go to Macau or Hong Kong to refresh my visa, and then I could head back to Mainland for another six months. I’m not sure if you can still do this nowadays-visiting Hong Kong or Macau to renew your Chinese visa before re-entering mainland China. It would be much more convenient than having to travel to another country. You might want to consult the relevant authorities about whether this is still an option.
Depends on your visa we have a single entry
@ no wonder ..mine is multi
You can get a two year multi entry visa easily from the uk?
I’d never been before and took my application- was told the day it would be returned etc so much easier than having to keep applying
Happy days we will be getting than when we’re home at Christmas. What way the price roughly Nicole?
@@OTWD_yt around £200 with delivery back to your house but worth it as it’s 90 day multi entry for two years 👍
@@NicolaSmith-fi7oi amazing thank you 😊
@@OTWD_yt so much easier you have to go face to face to the embassy - fill in all your stuff on line print it out and take it all with you with proof of hotels flights etc
They check it in front of you take your payment and passport then tell you what date you will get it back
They will stick the visa inside your passport
Saves so much hassle !!
Look and Ben and his Ching-lish amazing. Thumbs up from me. Hope you get a 1000 likes. How about a RUclips short for your singing to avoid copywrites.
I believe this video had surpassed 1k likes now 😂😳
If you don't like the bubbles, jellies, any fillings in the drink, you can just ask them not to add it when you order. Anything can be customized in China.
Ah ok thank you 😊
@@OTWD_yt Yes, the service industry in China now values word-of-mouth and recommendation most.
Would you pay import tax on personal items though as a visitor?
@@OTWD_yt Gotta prove that it's for "personal consumption", though. I think it's just common practice everywhere.
@@FreddieWu maybe il just wear two watches next time haha
there are not normal traveling cities for foreigners in China this time you visit, it's great. You would get quite different experience from other hot cities.
Can’t wait 😛
I am here in Nanning,welcome to Nanning.😄
So nice 😊 thank you
Where is Nannieng? Why do you always go to small cities like Xiomen and Nanieng? But your China videos are very interesting anyway!Recommended your channel to my friend,my friend is going to China soon.

Xiaman is famous city,Nanning is capital of Guangxi 😅
