To correctly set up the filters on your FPV drone you have to know the noise frequencies aka noise profile of it. The best way to do it is to record a blackbox log of a flight analyze it with Blackbox explorer. It’s an extremely powerful tool that gives insights into what your flight controller is doing. And it works with Betaflight and INAV too.
Notice: this is re-edited version of a video from 2017. It might be old, but still has a lot of valuable information! Quite unique too. Comparing to the original, it was shortened by a few minutes to remove some boring and not really important parts.

Excellent! Thanks a bunch, Pawel! 😃
Really valuable information!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Dobra robota! Oby tak dalej 😀
Thank you for these videos. In the past I have paid for people to tune my filters, as I did not understand what all the lines in the graphs mean. Something about your presentation is really helping things to click in my brain.
Tank you for that. Truly appreciated.
Very welcome
Great tutorial.
Glad you liked it!

Have I changed that much?

What's the top thing to take away from this experiment ?
Do you have a video series or video for absolute beginners that shows everything from getting the right programs, capturing the BB data and so on? Right from the very start?
what are the disadvantages of adding filters? does it add more latency?
Yes, precisely. More filters smoother signal but more delay at the same time
Great explanation! Thanks! But why we ignore elephant in the room? Motors not rotate at the fixed frequency. If i hovering and if i going forward - it occures on different throttle level and motors rotating with different frequencies. So notch filter configured for 150Hz when hoverign will be passed with 200 Hz of going frequency. Is there Esc's that can feedback rotate frequency to flight controller, to enable it adjust notch and it's harmonics?
yes, it's called bidirectional dshot + RPM filter. Bidirectional dshot sends the noise position of all motors to the flight controller and the RPM filter puts notches over these positions to filter them out in realtime
