You won’t believe what happened while helping this family with their Overgrown Lawn.
A few weeks back we found what looked to be like a murder weapon buried in the Overgrown Grass. We stopped by back to finish the Overgrown property and the homeowner wanted us to trim a little area over near the corner of their yard. While we were over there, the Angry Neighbor next door came out and was trying to secretly video tape me while standing in his garage. I waved at him and shut down the machine and walked over near property line and confronted him. He was concerned that I was going to hit his barn with sticks and there was no way that was going to happen.
While mowing, our tractor broke down and our mechanic stopped by to pick it up and we ended up coming back with our Mini Skid Steer.
While I was finishing up the yard the Homeowner approached me and I asked if he had any updates on the weapon that was found, I was a bit shocked on what we found out. Even more concerning was the restraining order and the cats.

To answer your question,
It is legal for the old man to record his neighbors property.
1st Ammendment freedom of the press. We all have the right to record anything that we can see with our eyes in public.
He can stand on his private property and record.
It is sad that people feel that they must be hateful to their neighbors.
@OutdoorswithErik Yes its legal. You are not behind a privacy fence so he can record all he wants too. Anything you can see with your eyes can be recorded.
I'm not complaining now, I'm asking a question. Being in public is different that being on private property
Yes it is legal for the guy to 📸record you working. ✅The Law states that as long as the guy is standing in a place where he can legally be , the 1st amendment of the constitution gives him the right to 📸 record what ever his eyes 👀 can see. You cannot trespass the 👀 eyes.
The owner should've turn it in you don't need anymore bad luck keep your head up
It boggles my mind how neighbors think it’s their right to get involved in your process. I love that you don’t take any crap.
The more I see of the neighbor I am even more suspicious of his relationship to the weapon you found! And, I'm with you, the owner needs to turn the gun in to the sheriff. You do so much good and get into some of the craziest situations! LOL Thanks for sharing.

I've seen magnet fishers call the police when they find guns and other weapons. The way they talk... it's mandatory. I wouldn't want to be in possession of a weapon that might have been used in a crime. It was sawed off, isn't that illegal in itself. I'd turn it in.
That was a short barreled shotgun which is a felony charge if it's not registered with the Feds.
Holding onto a Sawn-off Shotgun, with the Serial Numbers taken off, could get you in a lot of Trouble.

A lot of ghost guns come that way. You just take it in and they give it a number and register it. That was what i was informed from Sheriff but saw off different matter unless it known as a stage coach design and manufactured that way.

It was on private property. He must get the permission of the property owner to record anything on someone’s property. Erik was physically on private property, it doesn’t matter if he can be seen from the adjacent property. The bottom line is, he was on private property.

And yes he can record, the only thing illegal about recording another private property and people is if it includes through a window or into a dwelling.

When I was a teenager (back in the early '70's), we had a neighbor who poisoned our cat. So, this kind of neighbor isn't necessarily a new thing. I think you sir do a great job cleaning up properties. I enjoy watching you work. thanks for sharing your videos.
you would think the tractor company would have did a skid plate to stop that from happening. may be even a cage for the filter. always doing a great job.

Thank you for everything you do to help others! We could sure use an kind, honest and decent service in California. We are full of swindlers taking advantage of the weak, and elderly. Sad to say, there is someone who is going to bitch, and carry-on for no reason, and this neighbor is obviously one crazy (hospital crazy) sick person. They have nothing better to do. I myself watch a few other lawn care channels and you certainly handle more heavy duty equipment which makes you different from the others but i do noticed that you get a lot of confrontation too with angry neighbours or Karens.
Now i’m not sure whether the other channels are just lucky or they cut out those confrontations but just want to say, be safe.
A job is important but you only have one life, do what you need to protect yourself
We record everything, probably part of it, some of the channels just want feel good content and filter it out because some of the brands don't want it in videos. We share what happens, regardless of what happens

Not for nothing, Eric. I watch at least 30 other mowing channels, and they never have any issues. They cut the lawn and go home. Every lawn you cut, you're being sued, gun shots, Karen's, you find guns 😊
I have seen Karen's on other channels. SB mowing seems to have a few interactions with police.

That neighbour videoing you on private property, that you have permission to be on, from private property could be an issue depending on the laws of the state this is taking place.

Videoing in the state of Michigan is legal anywhere you can be seen as long as you are not peeping in windows.

That skid steer with cutter is awesome !!!! Love both pieces of equipment. Wish I had those back when I was brush hogging.
It's the first time I've really cut some bigger stuff, did really well
I would use the brush cutter to cut the brush and trees, then use the mulching tractor to clean up the sticks and stumps. That would probably be the fastest method.

Erik, you do excellent work and you go above and beyond. But what is it with Michigan, especially in your neck of the woods, that there are too many people there with rotten personalities? Is it the climate or the location? Which? The Kubota may suck, but regarding that other mower--the machine is a beast! It mows down the brush like nobody’s business.

Mainly because they just put in a new one in recently, and I just want to know what is going on. I don't get involved with the person who is doing their job like your having.

I totally agree no one should hurt animals. There are other ways to handle the situation. However pet owners also need to be respectful and responsible and keep their pets off of others property.

If people are worried about their animals welfare they should confine them to their own properties. I have had issues with cats and dogs. I’ve had dogs break into my coop and kill all my chickens. A responsible pet owner would not let their animals roam free. That’s just asking for trouble.
We are talking about a cat on farm land! As long as it is fixed a cat is not going to do damage.

Cats are NOT the same as dogs. Cats roaming around looking for field mice are not going to eat chickens. People with dogs should keep them on their own property, but you can't tell a cat where it can and can't go.

Even though your on private property, he’s on his property recording for his safety and if anything happens, obviously if your a individual with well documented history like your videos your fine, because clearly nothing hit near his property. He’s just wants to act hard and tough to scare you. But you’re technically out in public so he has every right to film.
He is fine to worry about that, but, to secretly record it was just odd. The beef between these two had nothing to do with me, I was just helping with a job

Hi, Eric. I am watch an episode of M & D MOWING, and Mr. Martin strapped something like a blade on his shoe to loosen the stubborn grass on the sidewalks for edging. I see you struggle with lots of overgrown sidewalk growth. He is using it on an episode where he is helping one of his subscribers. Aired April 25, 2024.
